1/3. Benign abdominal multicystic mesothelioma.

    The benign abdominal multicystic mesothelioma is a rare disease. Usually a malignancy of the ovary is suspected prior to and during surgery. The histological diagnosis and the clinical course however are benign. Three cases are reported. diagnosis, treatment and follow up are discussed.

2/3. Madelung's disease (benign symmetric lipomatosis).

    Madelung's disease, benign symmetric lipomatosis, is a rare disease of undetermined cause characterized by symmetric deposits of diffuse adipose tissue on the cheeks, the neck, and the upper trunk. This article outlines our experience with four patients and presents a case report of a specifically remarkable affectation that agrees with previous data linking male alcoholics with this disease. The treatment in all cases was palliative surgical removal of excess fat from the neck and paracervical regions.

3/3. Burkitt-like lymphoma in a hemophilic boy with impaired cellular immunity.

    Burkitt-like lymphoma was seen in a hemophilic boy with impaired cell-mediated immunity, of the type described in healthy hemophiliacs. The coexistence of two rare diseases, hemophilia and Burkitt's lymphoma in an immunosuppressed patient is suggestive of a blood-borne agent transmitted with factor viii concentrates which might be an immune modifier and/or oncogenic at the same time.
