1/5. Seborrheic keratosis with focal acantholysis.

A case of a 70-year-old man with several dome-shaped tumors with acantholysis was reported. The histopathological findings of these black-brownish colored tumors on the back were compatible with seborrheic keratosis, consisting of basaloid and squamoid cells. Although three cases reported by Tagami et al. (1978) and Uchiyama et al. (1986) showed intraepidermal epithelioma-like tumor nests in the acanthotic lesions, our case was thought to correspond to another variant of seborrheic keratosis with acantholysis.

2/5. Seborrheic keratoses of penis.

A case is reported of a forty-nine-year-old black man in whom numerous skin-colored papules and verrucoid plaques had developed on his penis over the course of fifteen years. He did not seek medical attention, and some of the lesions had become quite large. The initial clinical impression was condyloma acuminatum, and prior to therapeutic intervention histologic evaluation revealed findings diagnostic of seborrheic keratosis. Seborrheic keratoses should be considered in the differential diagnosis of penile lesions especially because of clinical similarities to condylomata acuminata.

3/5. Pigmentatio reticularis faciei et colli with multiple epithelial cysts.

Brown-black reticular pigmentation developed on the face and neck of a man. This was associated with severe seborrhea and the formation of multiple epithelial cysts on the trunk. We propose the term pigmentatio reticularis faciei et colli with multiple epithelial cysts as a suitable title for this disorder, and we hypothesize that these skin changes in this disorder are of nevoid origin. One similar case has been reported as "lentiginosis senilis" in the Japanese literature.

4/5. Annular facial dermatoses in blacks.

Annular facial dermatoses in blacks are common. Although the diagnosis of these dermatoses is usually made without difficulty, occasionally problems are encountered. A patient with annular seborrheic dermatitis that closely resembled the annular lesions of secondary syphilis is presented. The differential diagnosis of annular facial lesions in the black patient is then briefly reviewed.

5/5. Leser-Trelat sign in mother and daughter with breast cancer.

The Leser-Trelat sign is the sudden appearance and rapid increase in size and number of seborrhoeic keratoses in association with cancer. Twenty cases of this unusual phenomenon have so far been reported in the world literature. More than half involve adenocarcinomas and none was shown to be familial. We report a unique example of a 41-year-old black female and her 74-year-old black mother, both of whom have demonstrated classical clinical-pathological evidence of the Leser-Trelat sign and adenocarcinoma of the breast. The remainder of the family history was negative for cutaneous lesions and cancer. The aetiological and pathogenetic significance of the Leser-Trelat sign in association with carcinoma of the breast in this mother and daughter remains obscure.
