2/3. Xanthomatous endometritis.A further case of xanthomatous endometritis, characterized by the presence of histiocytic cells in the endometrium, in the absence of carcinoma is described. This lesion seems to be a rare complication of hematometra with cervical occlusion. The foam cells would appear to be macrophages, components of a nonspecific inflammatory reaction, which have phagocytosed breakdown elements of retained endometrial hemorrhage.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = endometritis (Clic here for more details about this article) |
3/3. Histiocytic endometritis. Two cases of histiocytic endometritis are described, both characterized by total replacement of the endometrium with sheets of lipid-containing histiocytic cells. This condition appears to be a rare complication of cervical occlusion and it is suggested that the histiocytic reaction occurs as a response to a haematometra.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = endometritis (Clic here for more details about this article) |
