1/5. Unicornuate uterus and unilateral ovarian agenesis associated with pelvic kidney.

In this report, we present a case of unilateral mullerian and ovarian agenesis associated with pelvic kidney. The patient was a 27-year-old woman who complained of an inability to conceive. We performed a hysterosalpingogram, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and an excretory urogram (IVP). At laparoscopy, we found an unicornuate uterus without a rudimentary horn. The right round ligament, fallopian tube, and ovary were present, but they were absent at the left side. Postoperative IVP revealed a pelvic kidney. Ultimately, her infertility was found to be due to a male factor: the abnormal semen of her partner. The couple was referred to our in vitro fertilization (IVF) unit. Because of the close embryologic association between the genital and urinary tracts, evaluation of the urinary tract in any patient with a genital or gonadal anomaly is necessary.

2/5. Laparoscopic management of teratoma of the round ligament.

This paper describes the case of an asymptomatic woman who underwent laparoscopy as part of a work-up for infertility. A previous transvaginal ultrasound had shown an echogenic adnexal mass, independent of the ovary. The intraoperative finding was a tumor of the round ligament that was resected and determined to be a mature teratoma. The case is reported due to the unusual location for that type of tumor; and in addition, it is the first description of a teratoma in the round ligament managed by laparoscopy.

3/5. Uterine devascularization and subsequent major intrauterine synechiae and ovarian failure.

OBJECTIVE: To report a case of major intrauterine synechiae associated with ovarian function failure secondary to uterine devascularization. DESIGN: Case report. SETTING: Departments of gynecology and obstetrics in two hospitals in france. PATIENT(S): A 29-year-old woman, para 1, presenting severe postpartum hemorrhage. INTERVENTION(S): Bilateral uterine, round ligament, utero-ovarian, and ovarian arteries ligation. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Clinical and hormonal status, computed tomography scan, hysterosalpingography, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and histological examination. RESULT(S): Twelve months after uterine devascularization, the patient presented major intrauterine synechiae, absence of endometrium, and ovarian function failure. CONCLUSION(S): Uterine devascularization may be responsible for infertility as a result of intrauterine synechiae and ovarian function failure.

4/5. female genital tuberculosis and consequent infertility.

During the years 1971-1980, genital tuberculosis was found in seven patients examined for infertility at the Department of obstetrics and Gynaecology, Turku University Central Hospital. None of these patients had a previous history of tuberculosis manifestations. Chest X-ray examinations were normal for all patients. Six of the patients had tuberculous endometritis. infertility was the only one had tuberculous endometritis. infertility was the only symptom for these patients. The findings for the hysterosalpingogram were varied and generally not typical of genital tuberculosis described in the literature. All diagnoses were confirmed histologically. Two cases of full-term pregnancy after treatment of genital tuberculosis are described. In one case there was a purulent tuberculous salpingo-oophoritis and in the other case there were tuberculous implants at the surfaces of the uterus and ligamentum latum. In addition two cases of extrauterine pregnancy are described.

5/5. Ovarian transposition with subsequent intrauterine pregnancy.

A 28-year-old married, Korean woman was diagnosed with a right unicornuate uterus, a left hypoplastic tube, and a right ovarian necrotic corpus luteal cyst. We performed a right oophorectomy and an excision of the left hypoplastic tube and then transferred the left ovary to the right broad ligament with intact vascular pedicles. Thus the remaining left ovary and right fallopian tube were placed in proximity. The patient conceived 2 months after the operation and delivered a living male infant.
