1/6. Atlantoaxial subluxation associated with ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament of the cervical spine.STUDY DESIGN: Two case reports. OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate two rare cases of atlantoaxial subluxation associated with ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of the cervical spine, in which spastic quadriplegia developed. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: There are only two reports of an association of diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis with atlantoaxial subluxation. This condition often accompanies ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of the cervical spine, but there is nothing in the literature about the association of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament with atlantoaxial subluxation. methods: Clinical and radiographic findings of these two cases were demonstrated. In both cases laminoplasty of the cervical spine was performed with occipitoaxial arthrodesis. RESULTS: The spastic quadriplegia of these two patients caused by myelocompression improved after surgical intervention. Lunate migration following Darrach's procedure: a case report.We report a case of a 28-year-old female patient who underwent Darrach's procedure to her dominant right wrist affected by rheumatoid disease. She developed severe pain in the wrist 4 weeks postoperatively. Collapse of the scaphoid and proximal migration of the lunate was noted. Total wrist arthrodesis using the Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Osteosynthesefragen wrist arthrodesis plate was performed, which alleviated the pain. Darrach's procedure is described for conditions causing derangement of the distal radio-ulnar joint, the classical inflammatory cause being rheumatoid arthritis. It is however a potentially destabilising procedure. Prediction of angular deformity and leg-length discrepancy after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in skeletally immature patients.Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in young children and adolescents are becoming more common as more youngsters participate in organized sports. The dilemma for the orthopaedic surgeon is that untreated ACL ruptures may result in meniscal damage and joint degeneration, whereas surgical treatment may result in physeal arrest, with shortening and angular deformity. 4/6. Camptodactyly caused by abnormal insertion and origin of lumbrical muscle.A 12-year-old boy had camptodactyly of the little finger. Operative findings revealed an abnormal origin of the lumbrical muscle from the transverse carpal ligament, and abnormal insertion into the tendon sheath of the flexor digitorum superficialis tendon. Distalization of the patella during tibial callus distraction.Consecutive distalization of the patella is described in two patients undergoing segmental transportation after high tibial corticotomy. Revision surgery with loosening and proximal reattachment of a portion of the patellar ligament bridging the callus distraction zone could re-establish the correct patellar position.
