Primary smooth muscle tumor of the liver encasing hepatobiliary cystadenoma without mesenchymal stroma.We describe a 59-year-old Japanese woman with a large mass of her liver encasing cystic components. Radiologic imaging showed the mass to be hypervascular, and surgical resection disclosed a white tumor. The solid portion was immunohistochemically characterized as a smooth muscle tumor. The cystic components were multilocular and lined with columnar epithelium, consistent with a hepatobiliary cystadenoma. The epithelium strongly stained for CA19-9. The subepithelial space was occupied by collagenous connective tissue interspersed with a small number of spindle-shaped cells. The cystic lesions lacked the mesenchymal stroma between the epithelium and connective tissue layer. There have been no previous reports of a hepatic smooth muscle tumor encasing a hepatobiliary cystadenoma. Apocrine acrosyringeal keratosis in association with syringocystoadenoma papilliferum.We report the clinical and histopathological features of a keratosis that developed in association with syringocystadenoma papilliferum. This tumour shows a pinkish, pedunculated, spherical nodule with a cerebriform surface and visible keratinous plugs. In addition to the typical features of syringocystadenoma papilliferum, the tumour shows many hyperkeratotic columns surrounded by acanthotic epidermis with the characteristics of trichilemmal keratinization and keratohyalin granules. This keratosis seems to be derived from the middle to lower portion of the apocrine acrosyringium, based on the distribution of keratohyalin granules and the direct connection with the apocrine acrosyringium in an early lesion. Synchronous mucinous tumors of the ovary and the appendix associated with pseudomyxoma peritonei: CT findings.BACKGROUND: To present the computed tomographic (CT) findings of synchronous mucinous tumors of the ovary and the appendix associated with pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP). methods: Imaging studies, mainly abdominal CT scans, of three women aged 49-75 years were reviewed. attention was directed to the ovarian masses, peritoneal seeding, and the presence of an appendiceal mucocele. RESULTS: The ovarian tumors and the appendiceal mucocele were clearly demonstrated in two cases, and they were part of the extensive PMP in the third patient. ascites was found in all cases, with internal septation in one. Associated scalloping of the liver margins and hypodense peritoneal implants, with extensive bowel involvement, were seen in another one. Pathologically, there was one case of right ovarian mucinous cystadenoma and villous adenoma of the appendix, one case of right ovarian and appendiceal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, and one case of bilateral metastatic ovarian implants of appendiceal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma. PMP was found in all. In the case with benign tumors of the ovary and the appendix, the PMP was classified as a benign mucinous spillage. This patient returned 33 months after surgery with PMP, in which epithelial cells were found. CONCLUSIONS: Radiologists should be familiar with the clinical occurrence of synchronous mucinous tumors of the ovary and the appendix associated with PMP and with the typical CT findings of the latter two entities. Coexistence of an endocrine tumour in a serous cystadenoma (microcystic adenoma) of the pancreas, an unusual association.A pancreatic endocrine tumour arising within a serous cystadenoma is reported. A 49 year old woman was admitted with a history of epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss of two months duration. She had been diabetic for 12 years. An epigastric mass was palpated in the physical examination, and computed tomography revealed a multiloculated cystic lesion in the pancreas. Pathological examination of the pancreatic tumour revealed the coexistence of a serous cystadenoma and an endocrine tumour. The endocrine tumour, which was located inside the serous cystadenoma, was 1 cm in diameter. The first case of a serous cystadenoma of the pancreas containing a pancreatic endocrine tumour was reported in the literature recently. Simultaneous mucinous cystadenoma of ovary and mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of pancreas.Mucinous cystic tumors were discovered synchronously in the tail of the pancreas and in the right ovary of an adult female. Both tumors were amenable to surgical resection. The pancreatic tumor was a noninvasive mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and the ovarian tumor was a mucinous cystadenoma. 6/82. Clear cell carcinoma of the ovary arising in a mucinous cystadenoma.A 57 year old woman presented complaining of increasing abdominal swelling of six months duration. A mixed solid cystic left ovarian tumour measuring 24 cm in diameter was excised. histology showed numerous cysts lined by benign mucinous epithelium blending imperceptibly into borderline clear cell and mucinous areas that in turn merged with an invasive clear cell carcinoma. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of clear cell carcinoma arising in a mucinous cystadenoma. 7/82. choriocarcinoma of the ovary associated with mucinous cystadenoma.We report choriocarcinoma of the ovary associated with mucinous cystadenoma in a 54-year-old postmenopausal woman, the first reported case of this condition. Doppler ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging showed hypervascularity of the tumor that corresponded to the area of choriocarcinoma within the multilocular cyst. Four distinct head and neck tumors.The case history of a 70-year-old woman with the simultaneous occurrence of mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the parotid gland, thyroid carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity, and a Warthin tumor is described. The simultaneous occurrence of three histologically distinct malignant tumors is a rare event amounting to approximately 1% of cases of multiple primary tumors. This case is unusual in that the tumors occurred in three separate organs and in association with a papillary cystadenoma lymphomatosum. 9/82. fibroadenoma of the eyelid.Extramammary fibroadenomas have been previously reported to mainly occur in the anogenital region, arising from mammary-like glands. The present report describes a 45-year-old woman who presented with a fibroadenoma of her eyelid that was associated with a cystadenoma. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of a fibroadenoma of the eyelid. 10/82. Urachal adenocarcinoma in situ with pseudomyxoma peritonei: a case report.A 54 year old man presented with a six month history of abdominal pain. A computerised tomography scan showed a well defined intra-abdominal unilocular mass with a calcified wall just superior to the bladder. At laparotomy, pseudomyxoma peritonei was discovered, together with a midline abdominal mass adherent to the anterior abdominal wall originating from the fundus of the bladder. The specimen consisted of a cystic mass measuring 14 x 9.5 x 7 cm overall, which contained mucoid material. Histological examination revealed that the cyst was lined by mucinous epithelium, which in areas varied from having bland morphology to showing pronounced nuclear and architectural atypia. There was abundant extracellular mucin. The specimen was extensively sampled but there was no evidence of invasion.
