1/6. Pacinian corpuscle neuroma of digital nerves.

Symptoms and incapacitation due to abnormal aggregations of pacinian corpuscles are uncommon. Indeed, only three reports have been found in the scientific literature. A case is presented in which the patient's chief complaint was pain and localized tenderness in the hand which interfered with normal activity. Surgical exploration of the palm showed abnormalities of pacinian corpuscles attached to the median digital nerve in the form of a grape-like cluster and a single enlarged corpuscle beneath the epineurium; the abnormality attached to the ulnar digital nerve appeared as an offshoot of hyperplastic corpuscles lying in tandem. The abnormal corpuscles were excised. The symptoms have not recurred to date. These abnormalities in size, position, and number of pacinian corpuscles are compared to the findings of the few other reports in the literature. The neuroma formation found attached to this ulnar nerve has not been cited previously.

2/6. pacinian corpuscles hyperplasia--an uncommon cause of digital pain.

The authors present two cases of hyperplasia of pacinian corpuscles, one in the hand and another in the foot. In the hand the corpuscles were located along the radial border of the pulp of the little finger and presented with localised sharp pain. In the foot, it presented as metatarsalgia in association with Morton's neuroma of the second web space. Both patients underwent exploration and excision of the lesion with complete resolution of symptoms.

3/6. Digital pacinian corpuscle neuroma eroding bone: a case report.

A case of digital pacinian corpuscle neuroma leading to erosive changes in the adjacent proximal phalanx is reported. Characteristics and previous reports of this relatively uncommon hand tumor are discussed.

4/6. Digital pacinian neuroma: a distinctive hyperplastic lesion.

Neural tumours composed solely of pacinian corpuscles or showing focal Pacinian differentiation are extremely rare and have only occasionally been reported in the literature. All such lesions to date have been benign. Three lesions are described herein which presented as painful digital masses in middle-aged adults and which were composed of abnormal aggregates of morphologically mature pacinian corpuscles and intervening small nerves. Only five similar cases have been previously recorded. Possible pathogenetic mechanisms of this unusual hyperplastic phenomenon are discussed.

5/6. Rudimentary polydactyly (cutaneous neuroma) case report with ultrastructural study.

A case of rudimentary polydactyly (cutaneous neuroma) on the ulnar aspect of the left fifth finger of a 38-year-old male was examined and the skin was studied by light and electron microscopy. In addition to a proliferation of nerve fibers and encapsulated corpuscles, normal merkel cells were often present in the basal portion of the epidermis. It is suggested that proliferation of various neural components is the essential feature of the affected skin.

6/6. Subepineural hyperplastic pacinian corpuscle: an unusual cause of digital pain.

A case is presented in which the patient's chief complaint was severe digital pain radiating to the arm. Even light touch was enough to produce unbearable pain, which prevented the patient from carrying out simple daily tasks. She had complete relief of her symptoms following removal of the hyperplastic pacinian corpuscle and returned to her normal life. A review of the literature revealed few reported cases of hypertrophied pacinian corpuscles in the hand. We believe that this diagnosis must be considered in the differential diagnosis of digital pain of unknown etiology.
