1/5. An unusual case of a prenatally detected large mullerian duct remnant.

Mullerian duct remnants presenting in childhood are often diagnosed incidentally and when symptomatic, typically present with recurrent infection and/or voiding disturbances. We present a rare unusual case of a male neonate who presented with a prenatally detected large pelvic cyst that turned out to be a giant prostatic utriculus.

2/5. Idiopathic prostatic giant calculi in a young male patient.

We report a case of 41-year-old man with idiopathic prostatic giant calculi presenting with voiding difficulty. To our knowledge this is the youngest case with idiopathic prostatic giant calculi reported in the literature. The etiopathogenesis of prostatic calculi are also discussed.

3/5. Giant prostatic urethral calculus associated with urethrocutaneous fistula.

Urethral stones in men are rare clinical entity and most of them migrate from the urinary bladder. Urethral stones are rarely formed primarily in the urethra and are usually associated with urethral strictures or diverticula. We report a 41-year-old man with giant prostatic urethral stone (5.9x3.2x2.8 cm) associated with a urethrocutaneous fistula. The etiological factors, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, complications and management of giant urethral calculi are reviewed.

4/5. Extramedullary hematopoiesis in the prostate.

A case of bone marrow myelofibrosis with extramedullary hematopoiesis in the prostate gland is described. This 75-year-old man had an 8-year history of myelofibrosis, massive hepatosplenomegaly, and progressive anemia and a 5-year history of bladder outlet obstruction symptomatology. Transurethral resection of prostate was performed, and light microscopic examination of the prostatic chips revealed a diffuse distribution of atypical megakaryocytes, immature granulocytes, and normoblasts in the prostatic stroma. The prostatic glandular epithelium was uninvolved. Immunostaining for hemoglobin in erythroid precursors and a chloroacetate esterase stain for granulocytic precursors were useful in confirming the diagnosis and in defining the extent of prostatic involvement. Extramedullary hematopoiesis is a rare process in the prostate gland, but it should be included in the differential diagnosis of cellular prostatic stromal lesions, particularly when atypical giant cells are observed.

5/5. Giant megalo-ureter and duplex kidney in an asymptomatic adult.

An abdominal mass was palpated in an asymptomatic adult during a routine medical check-up. ultrasonography and computed tomography scan diagnosed a simple renal cyst, a mesenteric cyst and a seminal vesicle cyst. At laparotomy a complete ureteral duplication and a giant ectopic megalo-ureter were diagnosed. Other complications were ruled out in the follow-up. Ureterectomy without heminephrectomy was performed and the patient remains asymptomatic 5 years after surgery.
