1/5. Pseudoaneurysm of the lateral malleolar artery after an ankle sprain: case report and review of the literature.

A pseudoaneurysm of the peroneal artery or one of its branches is rare after trauma. The diagnosis is frequently delayed, resulting in substantial morbidity to the patient. The infrequent occurrence of this condition has resulted in a lack of diagnostic and treatment guidelines. However, when recognized, prompt attention involving either surgical ligation or embolization of the injured arterial branch is the most reliable method of treatment. Presented is a report of a patient who developed a lateral malleolar arterial pseudoaneurysm after an ankle sprain, which was treated successfully with aneurysmal excision and surgical ligation of the injured arterial branch. A review of the literature and treatment recommendations follow.

2/5. Pseudoaneurysm as a complication of ankle arthroscopy.

We describe a case of pseudoaneurysm of the anterior tibial artery as a complication after arthroscopic ankle synovectomy, in which standard anterolateral and anteromedial portals were used. Pseudoaneurysm has been previously reported as a complication in ankle arthroscopy with the use of the anterocentral portal. Previously described anatomic variations of the tibial artery and its close relationship with the anterior ankle capsule may complicate arthroscopic surgery, especially when aggressive synovectomy is performed. Anterior tibial artery aneurysm is a rare complication of ankle arthroscopy, but its potential catastrophic sequelae must not be underestimated.

3/5. Pseudoaneurysm of the anterior tibial artery after ankle arthroscopy.

ankle arthroscopy is believed to have the least vascular complications compared with other types of arthroscopies. We present a case of traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the anterior tibial artery after ankle arthroscopy, an extremely rare complication that was treated surgically and had an uneventful recovery.

4/5. Sporting 'groin strains': not always muscular!

A gluteal artery pseudoaneurysm presenting as a 'groin strain' following minor trauma is reported. diagnosis was made by CT scan and arteriography. Treatment was with superselective catheterization and microcoil embolization.

5/5. Peripheral arterial pseudoaneurysm treated by ultrasound-guided compression.

Ultrasound-guided compression repair of a pseudoaneurysm is a simple, safe and effective therapy, and has been proposed as a first-line treatment for pseudoaneurysms caused by catheterization. Herein, we report a case of a pseudoaneurysm arising from a sport injury which was treated by this method. Obliteration of the track of the pseudoaneurysm induced manual thrombosis and successfully converted the pseudoaneurysm to haematoma. Understanding the mechanism and the procedure is the basis of success in the use of this treatment.
