1/3. Co-existence of pemphigus vulgaris and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

We report a case of pemphigus vulgaris (PV) associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Direct immunofluorescent studies revealed intercellular deposits of IgG and C3. Both anti-desmoglein (Dsg) 1 and Dsg 3 antibodies were positive in the patient's serum by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. HLA genotyping was performed from the patient's peripheral blood leukocytes by polymerase chain reaction. HLA-A*02011, -A*2402101, -DQA1*0104, -DQB1*05031 and -DRB1*1405 alleles, which confer strong susceptibility to Japanese patients with PV, were found. HLA-DQA1*0303 which is strongly associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in the Japanese population was also determined.

2/3. Development of pemphigus vulgaris in a patient with vitiligo and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

pemphigus vulgaris is an autoimmune blistering disease. An association of pemphigus vulgaris with vitiligo or Hashimoto's thyroiditis has not been reported before. We reported a 38 yr-old female patient with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and vitiligo who eventually developed pemphigus vulgaris on vitiliginous lesions. A genetic predisposition or a local event on vitiliginous skin may be responsible for the development of pemphigus in this patient.

3/3. The coexistence of psoriasis vulgaris, sjogren's syndrome, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

A 52-year-old woman presented with psoriasis vulgaris, sjogren's syndrome, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis with a 5-year history. She had a number of immunological abnormalities and typical psoriatic plaques over her entire body. The relationship between psoriasis, sjogren's syndrome, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis is discussed from the viewpoint of immunology, and similar cases in the literature are reviewed. This is the first report of a coexistence of psoriasis vulgaris, sjogren's syndrome, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
