1/18. An 8-year-old girl with unilateral facial and ear pain and isolated frontal headaches.

An 8 1/2-year-old with chronic but fluctuating unilateral facial pain, earache, frontal headache and facial swelling is presented. Her journey through the health care system provides an instructional lesson for all who deal with patients with unusual or difficult to recognize conditions. ( info)

2/18. cheilitis granulomatosa (melkersson-rosenthal syndrome).

An oligosymptomatic manifestation of the melkersson-rosenthal syndrome is described. The importance of serial sections of the tissue specimen is emphasized. Satisfactory postoperative results are obtained. ( info)

3/18. Oral lesions in patients with psoriasis: clinical presentation and management.

psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that rarely involves the oral cavity. In this report we describe 2 cases, initially diagnosed with cutaneous psoriasis, that present with oral lesions on the attached gingiva. The clinical appearance and differential diagnosis are presented and discussed. Case 1 describes the non-surgical management of intraoral psoriasiform lesions and the use of a free gingival graft to restore an area of gingival recession resulting from an oral lesion. The second case outlines the use of topical corticosteroid therapy as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal therapy. Although patients with cutaneous psoriasis rarely present with oral involvement, the clinician should be aware that oral lesions may occur. Accurate diagnosis is dependent on a thorough clinical examination, a biopsy of the oral lesions, and a history of cutaneous psoriasis. ( info)

4/18. Tassier cleft no 30 (median cleft from lower lip to manubrium).

One-year-old female presented with cleft of lower lip, mandible, fissured tongue, absent hyoid bone, cleft of manubrium sterni, later is detected clinically by suprasternal bulge at suprasternal region while crying. It is radiologically detected by wide apart medial end of clavicle. This is extremely rare anomaly known as Tassier Cleft no 30. ( info)

5/18. A case of melkersson-rosenthal syndrome associated with ehlers-danlos syndrome.

melkersson-rosenthal syndrome (MRS) is characterized by the triad of recurrent facial palsy, lingua plicata, and facial edema. Herein, we report a case of MRS associated with ehlers-danlos syndrome due to rare presentation. To the best of our knowledge only one case of MRS associated with ehlers-danlos syndrome has been reported in the literature until now. ( info)

6/18. The syndrome of Coffin, Siris and Wegienka: report of a case.

A severely subnormal male with the syndrome of Coffin, Siris and Wegienka is described and compared with previously reported cases. The possible aetiology is discussed. ( info)

7/18. melkersson-rosenthal syndrome. review of literature and case report.

A case of melkersson-rosenthal syndrome with the classic triad of symptoms is presented. The literature is reviewed with respect to clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, pathogenesis, and management of this syndrome. ( info)

8/18. Granulomatous cheilitis. A review and report of a case.

The melkersson-rosenthal syndrome (MRS) is a rare triad of unilateral facial paralysis, facial swelling, and fissured tongue; often only two of the components are manifest. The occurrence of swollen lips together with the characteristic microscopic appearance is called granulomatous cheilitis, which many believe is the oligosymptomatic form of MRS. This article reviews the literature on granulomatous cheilitis associated with MRS. An unusual case of a swollen upper lip together with a fissured tongue, strongly indicating the oligosymptomatic manifestations of MRS, is presented. ( info)

9/18. Chondroectodermal dysplasia (ellis-van creveld syndrome): report of two cases.

Our two patients with chondroectodermal dysplasia had most of the classic manifestations of the syndrome. The simultaneous occurrence of partial anodontia and embedded supernumerary and second premolars in the mandible in one patient was interesting. The inverted impaction of the left maxillary lateral incisor is also a unique finding. The median fissure on the tongue may be an associated developmental anomaly of the syndrome. ( info)

10/18. pemphigus vegetans presenting as scrotal tongue.

A case of scrotal tongue is described. Histological and immunofluorescent findings revealed that this case was pemphigus vegetans, which should therefore be added to the differential diagnosis of scrotal tongue. ( info)
