5/12. Giant urethral diverticulum: unusual complication following ventral buccal mucosa onlay graft urethroplasty.

During the past 10 years, buccal mucosa grafting for urethroplasty has gained widespread acceptance. In general the reported success rates are 80% and higher. Typical complications are recurrent strictures, fistula, and, especially when the technique of ventral onlay urethroplasty has been used, sacculations that are of little clinical significance in most cases. The development of large diverticula has not been described yet. We report on the case of a 63-year-old man who developed a giant diverticulum of the urethra 1 year after a ventral buccal mucosa onlay graft urethroplasty for recurrent bulbar urethral strictures had been worked out.

8/12. Giant fibroepithelial polyps of the female urethra: two case reports and review of the literature.

Fibroepithelial polyps are one of the less common obstructive lesions of the female urethra. The authors describe two cases of giant fibroepithelial polyps in paraplegic women. Both patients had a history of long-term indwelling catheterization to manage neurogenic bladder. The chronic irritation caused by the catheters was thought to be responsible for the development of the polyps. Resection is required in these cases to relieve the urethral obstruction and eliminate the possibility of malignant disease.

9/12. Congenital giant diverticulum of the posterior urethra in a 4-year-old boy.

A congenital giant diverticulum of the posterior urethra in a 4-year-old boy is reported. The theories on development of congenital urethral diverticula are considered and the importance of the clinical, radiological, endoscopical and histological examination for the differential diagnosis of the acquired diverticula and enlarged utricle is emphasised. In the majority of diverticula transurethral unroofing is most appropriate. The larger and symptomatic diverticula require open excision and eventually urethral reconstruction. Small asymptomatic diverticula may not require any treatment.

10/12. Primary giant calculus in urethral diverticulum.

Urethral stone is a rare clinical entity and usually encountered in men with urethral stricture or diverticulum. They are exceedingly rare in females secondary to the low incidence of vesical calculi and short urethra. We report a very rare case of a primary giant calculus in a urethral diverticulum of a female.
