1/6. Carcinoma in diverticulum of female urethra.

A case of female urethral diverticulum is reported by the authors. It is a rare disease and about 31 cases have previously been described. An analysis is made in relation to the diverticulum of the urethra and to female urethral carcinoma. Emphasis is given on the semiology and the recently acquired diagnostic procedures, as these have led to an increased number of recognized cases. In the case presented, an extended resection and a definitive urinary derivation was performed, together with chemo- and radiotherapy. A follow-up of 2.5 years showed no signs of recurrence or metastases.

Primary localized genitourinary amyloid deposition is a rare disease that can be confused with cancer. Amyloid tumours of the urethra are exceptionally rare, with only 40 cases having been reported in the literature since 1909. A case is presented herein, with a full review of the presenting features, coexisting conditions and pathology and recommendations for treatment, based on the findings in previously reported cases.

5/6. Primary amyloidosis of urethra.

Primary amyloidosis is a rare disease. Only 10 cases of amyloid tumor of the urethra have been reported previously, with this being the eleventh case. Because of its rarity and because it stimulates carcinoma, biopsy is essential for definitive diagnosis and treatment. The literature is reviewed, and symptomatology, pathology, and management are discussed.

6/6. A case of primary localized amyloidosis of urethra.

amyloidosis of the urethra is a rare disease. The clinical appearance resembles carcinoma of the urethra, so that biopsy is required to make the appropriate diagnosis. Once primary localized amyloidosis of the urethra has been diagnosed, selection of the appropriate treatment for each case becomes important. We report a case of primary localized amyloidosis in the male anterior urethra. This case was treated successfully with urethral dilatation.
