What are tattoos called on the lower abdominal?

Are there any special names for them or are they just called lower abdominal tattoos? I am looking for a tribal one for my lower abdominal where the hips are sorta like a tribal tattoo. Any ideas or websites?
----------

Actually, the lower abdomen is not a tramp stamp.
It's the lower back that's the tramp stamp.

You can just say in between the hip bones.
Or just "Lower Abdomen".

If you go into a tattoo parlor, just show them where you want it.
You don't need to say, "I want it on my forearm."
It'd be easier for them if you just pointed where.  (+ info)

What is the best abdominal and pectoral muscle workout from home?

I just want a simple workout to do from home that helps your abdominal and pectoral muscles.
----------

abs: proper crunches, 3 sets every day, as many as you can. begin moderately, don't hurt yourself from the start. After you've done them for 1-2 weeks, you should do each set until exhaustion (failure to complete the last rep in a set).

pecs: military push ups (chin up, back straight and touch your chest to the floor), 3 sets every day, as many as you can, begin moderately, don't hurt yourself from the start. After you've done them for 1-2 weeks, you should do each set until exhaustion (failure to complete the last rep in the set).  (+ info)

What is the fastest way to loose abdominal fat?

I´ve heard that abdominal workouts (sit ups, etc) dont really make you loose fat since they focus mostly on growing muscle mass.
Is this true?

Are cardiovascular exercises (running, etc) better?

Is there something better to these 2 above? or is there something specifically good to loose abdominal fat?
----------

your right that things like sit ups don't help to lose weight as fast as you would like

to promote long term weight stability and quick weight lose
REDUCE STRESS as much as possible

things like "The Twist" believe it or not, help to burn fat very quickly

other dances and exercises like it will most likely help  (+ info)

What week do they start abdominal ultrasound vs vaginal?

I went at 5 wk 5 day and it was vaginal but the tech seemed kind of rough and it was painful. I go back at 7 wk 4 day. When do they switch to abdominal u/s's? I don't want her to do another vaginal one.
----------

They use vaginal scans early in pregnancy as your womb is still very low in your pelvis and if they used an abdominal untrasound the picture would either be very unclear or they wouldn't be able to see anything. From aroudn 11-12 weeks the womb begins to move up out of your pelvis and this is when they usually begin using abdominal scans.

I know that the vaginal ones are not pleasant but it does give them the best view of the baby (I had fertility treatment and therefore had to have early scans). I appreciate that vaginal scans can be uncomfortable and even a little sore as things are more tender down there and they do have to move around to get the pictures they need. You can ask for an abdominal scan but they may not be able to see what they need to.

When you go back in couple of weeks explain that you found it painful and ask if they can be more gentle. From experience, when I had my second vaginal scan although it still wasn't comfortable it didn't hurt as they didn't have to move around as much as everything had grown.

At the end of the day, whether you have a vaginal scan or abdominal one is entirely your choice and they should accommodate your wishes.

Good luck!

What is the most efficient abdominal work-out?

Hello I am a senior in high school and have fractured my neck in a football incident during a game last fall. Now, 8 months later, I am fully recovered and ready to regain my strength. However, I've gained weight and lost my six-pack. Does anyone out there have any good suggestions on efficient abdominal work-outs?

What abdominal exercises work best for a women who has had two c-sections?

I am looking for new ideas on exercising, the lower abdominal area! Especially After having two c-sections it is a trouble spot! Any ladies, who have had children by abdominal surgery(c-section) you know that pouch that is so hard to get rid of? It is quite frustrating! I wish I could just get plastic surgery to remove it. Unfortunately,I can not at this time. However, my second C-section was a disaster. It was an emergency section,(as well as the first) but the doctor really hacked my stomach the second time around, compared to my first incision. The second one was a much bigger incision and much to far up from the first. Anyhow, I would love to hear of any (lower) or regular abdominal exercises. Or any other tips, secrets,or advice any of you may have. Especially if any of you have had abdominal surgery(s) before. Thanks a bunch,in advance!

i don't know about having kids and stuff like that but i have cindy crawford's second workout video the one she did after having her baby and during the ab part she mentions if you have a split or something like that that you need to cross your forearms in front of your stomach and put each hand on opposite sides of your abdomen when u do crunches and stuff. be careful, yikes!!!!  (+ info)

What types of abdominal pain are associated with anxiety?

I've been having anxiety problems for a long time now, and the severity varies greatly.
But recently, I've been under a lot more stress due to school and other things.
I've been having abdominal pains the past few days and was wondering if it could be anxiety.

Are there certain types of abdominal pain that are more likely to be caused by anxiety?
----------

Kristin, sorry about your ongoing difficulties with anxiety. I have experienced a lot of that myself.

Here's a little info.

Your body is where emotions are felt. That means that you can feel physical sensations related to your emotions anywhere in your body.

And certain parts of our bodies are closely linked to our emotions. The digestive tract is one of those areas.

We even have lots of expressions that give evidence of this:
- butterflies in my stomach
- gut reaction
- go with your gut
- don't have the guts (to do something)
- feeling gutsy

Doctors are now saying that somewhere between 85 and 95% of all ailments are stress-related.

So I'd say, yep, the abdominal pains you're feeling could be caused by your anxiety. Your body is telling you that to be healthy, you need to calm your anxiety.

And I know you didn't ask for advice, but I just can't help myself here. Definitely go to a medical practitioner to have it checked out.

And, learn some calming methods - for your tummy's sake and the rest of you too.

I recommend the book Finding Serenity in the Age of Anxiety by Robert Gerson. And I recommend learning EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). Those two things have helped me enormously.  (+ info)
