How soon after an abortion do you ovulate and how soon is it possible to get pregnant? Are you more likely or less likely to become pregnant a week after even with protection if it slipped but nothing came out that you know of? The person is on Birth Control as well they started after the abortion. Also would taking a Plan B pill mess their system up after just having been thru something like that?

I don't need no negative comments or anything like that just medical facts.
It is hard to say as it is different for everyone. Now mind you the likelihood of becoming pregnant within a week would be lower (most likely), as hcg levels are still elevated and the person will not be ovulating. That being the "likely" scenario anything could happen and people have been known to get prego in the 1st two weeks after the procedure. One thing to note though, you should be abstaining from sex within the 1st week as to avoid infection.
So they are on birth control? If they are, chances are much lower and they should be ok if it was started immediately.
Regarding Plan B, I assume it would be ok to take but I would read up on it or ask the pharmacist when you purchase.... if indeed that is what you decide to do.  (+ info)

I'd like to know from anyone's personal experiences how soon after an abortion or miscarriage the pregnancy symptoms disappear and the body returns to normal. I'd really appreciate if anyone could tell me how long it took for the following symptoms to disappear for them:

1. Swollen/tender breasts
2. Morning sickness
3. Abdominal pain/cramps

Hi. It really depends on how far along the pregnancy was and how high the hCG (the ¨pregnancy hormone¨ which causes the symptoms) levels were.

I had a miscarriage at about 5 weeks.

1. I didn´t have this to begin with
2. Only about a day or so, it was a very early pregnancy loss so my hormone levels were probably not that high to begin with and so didn´t take too long to get back down to normal.
3. I only had abdominal pain/cramping starting a few hours before, and then as long as I was actively bleeding. I bled very heavily, passed lots of large (50 cent piece-sized) clots, and had cramps for about 4-5 days. The bleeding was much heavier than my normal periods, and the cramping was similar to period cramping but again much more intense. When the bleeding stopped, so did the cramps.

I am against abortion because I believe an unborn child is still a life, but I think it would be harmful to society to completely illegalize abortion. Instead, I think that we should put more emphasis on social responsibility for both men and women, better sex education, and push for more adoptions in situations where a woman cannot keep her child. People deserve their rights, but they also must take personal responsibility. Do you think this is a reasonable viewpoint?

I am against abortion as well, but always on the fence about it being legal. I hate it that it is legal cause a lot of girl/women use abortion as birth control, but on the other hand, if it wasn't legal, a lot of women would be doing self-abortions, and that is dangerous as well.

I had an abortion. It's very depressing to think of it. I had a medical risk and didn't want to..from the bottom of my heart I BEGGED God to make it all a terrible dream. My risk was small, but a definite chance I couldn't fathom to take with my baby and I miss them everyday. I am EXTREMELY depressed about my abortion. I don't speak for anyone but myself.

It hurts me, honestly..even though it shouldn't. It REALLY hurts my feelings..I live in a silent shame...it's an unspoken problem that women suffer with daily.

I had the abortion on Wednesday. I've had virtually no bleeding, but I've been experiencing a slight fever and severe cramps. The cramps are what is bothering me most. I have taken advil and oxycodone regularly and nothing is helping!
You should call the clinic or hospital that performed your abortion and give them this information, they will advise you how to proceed. You don't mention the temperature of your fever, but if it is over 102, you should visit a doctor. Are you sure you're taking oxycodone? I agree with the comments that maybe you should buy the pregnancy test for her and take it together. If she is pregnant ensure that you are both 100% sure that you want to have an abortion as there will be no turning back.

I have known a couple of people who have had abortions and it is the mental/emotional pain rather than the physical pain which has affected them both afterwards.

If and/or when she has the abortion make sure that you are there with her and take care of her afterwards-- I'm sure that your relationship will be tested and strained after the operation so just listen to her and try to be as understanding as you can. I know that it is your child also but it will affect the both of you very differently and you will both be needing each other.  (+ info)

Guilt OR relief... but since you're asking for physical side effects, this is from what I can remember (I went through 2).

You can become infertile. You can get an infection. You can die. Those are very rare and extreme circumstances.

You can still be pregnant. You will be tired and groggy after taking the anesthesia. You can have an allergic reaction to the anesthesiaYou may have strange bleeding - anywhere from heavy to light. You can have no period for 2 months. You can have extremely heavy periods.

You can't take a bath or have sex for 2 weeks. You may get an infection from that. You can get pregnant again. (True, but said in a joking manner).

There's a lot of possible side effects - the same goes with any surgical procedure or with taking medication.  (+ info)
