What does spots on adrenal gland mean?

Does anyone know what spots on a adrenal gland mean? I recently had a cat scan and they found several spots. My physician is sending the report out for a 2nd opinion to find out what to do. My blood work is steadily getting worse. My catecholine test showed a norepinephrine level of 1200 (normal is below 400). My sed rate was 44 (normal is under 20). My platelet count is 494K (normal is 150-400K), this has gone up from 430K over the last 2 yrs on my bloodwork. Plus I have some other blood work elevated. Anyway, just worried in between the time I am waiting to hear back from the dr.

Spots on Adrenal Gland means adrenal Gland cancer. Adrenal gland cancers are rare cancers occuring in the endocrine tissue of the adrenals. They are characterized by overproduction of adrenal gland hormones.

Cancers of the adrenal gland are very rare. The adrenal gland is a hormone producing endocrine gland with two main parts, the cortex and the medulla. The main hormone of the adrenal cortex is cortisol and the main hormone of the adrenal medulla is epinephrine. When tumors develop in the adrenal gland, they secrete excess amounts of these hormones. A cancer that arises in the adrenal cortex is called an adrenocortical carcinoma and can produce high blood pressure, weight gain, excess body hair, weakening of the bones and diabetes. A cancer in the adrenal medulla is called a pheochromocytoma and can cause high blood pressure, headache, palpitations, and excessive perspiration. Although these cancers can happen at any age, most occur in young adults.-  (+ info)

Ferret with insolinoma and adrenal gland disease, Is it safe for a ferret to be on prednisone and lupron?

It is safe for a ferret to be on these medications, as long as taken as directed an not beyond the time needed. Remember that there is a 50/50 response on whether or not the disease is contagious to other ferrets. keep this in mind when deciding whether to keep them around others or acquiring a new one in the near future. Though they will not cure the disease, supplements or vitamins can Help now with the medications uses...you can ask the doc or look online for better prices. Remember that your ferrets best chance at health is you...alot of furry love, time, and patient care will get him/her through this and you as well. Also know that many ferrets )some say as many as 1/3( get the disease so in case you had guilt....its not you mr/ms owner.....its the lovely aspect of ferret life.

Good luck and thank GOD for a responsible Ferret owner...they are actually harder to find than your would think.
I run a foster and place ferret rescue and have had ferrets with the disorder if ya need some more help or info please feel free to email me ([email protected])  (+ info)

I just found out that they found a mass on my Moms Adrenal Gland.?

Ive read some of the articles on the adrenal gland but to be honest its not sinking in. I dont know if its because I am just scared and thats why its not sinking in but anyways does anyone have any info from their own words or has anyone ever had a mass or know anyone who had a mass on their adrenal gland. Thanks everyone.
----------

most masses in the adrenal gland are incidentalomas - an incidental finding.

functional adrenal masses can cause severe hypertension, in which case your mom would be admitted in the intensive care unit. some adrenal masses are metastases from a cancer somewhere in the body.  (+ info)
