Can a person with Hep-C use protein supplements?

Is anyone out there weight lifting and using protein powders, supplements energy bars and drinks etc with no adverse effects?
----------

As long as the Hepatits C is inactive, and there is no ongoing liver inflammation - like elevated liver enzyme tests or jaundice, and as long as the liver is functioning well, there is no reason that protein supplements cannot be used.
However, if there is active inflammation, with cirrhosis or liver failure, proteins in any forms should be restricted, as a failing liver cannot process the excess protein, excess ammonia is produced and this can cause hepatic coma, leading to death.  (+ info)

what is the effect of protein C and S on pergnancy?

existing higher amount than normal , and relative effects on pregnancy? abbortion ? solutions?
----------

Proteins C and S are normal physiological components of the protein complexes that regulate blood clotting, in particular they are endogenous anticoagulants.

Disorders of these proteins are usually hereditary defects and needless to say can lead to abnormalities in blood clotting.

Activated protein C deficiency is a problematic disorder leading to a prothrombotic tendency (ie you are more prone to clots: DVT or PE) and needs to be brought to the attention of your obstetrician.

Excess levels theoreticall will predispose to bleeding disorders, important of course in regard to placental separation and potentially a risk to the mother during child birth, or the baby if it leads to placental abruption.

I would suggest if you have been given this diagnosis you discuss the consequences with your obstetrician as it need not be a catastrophe for mother or child so long as your doctors are aware of its presence throughout your care.  (+ info)

what is the role of serratiopeptidase in raised c reactive protein?

Serratiopeptidase would be used as an anti-inflammatory, to treat systemic inflammation. Elevated c-peptide is thought to be a marker of increased inflammation in the body. It is also a marker for an increased risk of heart disease. So, serratiopeptidase in theory could lower inflammation in the body, decreasing both c-peptide levels and the risk for heart disease.

At least, this is my assumption.  (+ info)

Have you ever had an elevated CRP (c reactive protein) - what caused it?

Yes, yes, I know it can be caused by a variety of illnesses and I'm going to the dr next week. I just wanted to hear people who have had experience with this. Thanks!
----------

My CRP was elevated after a car accident because I had muscle injurys such as sprains, strains, etc..... most of the time it is nothing serious and not related to the heart or heart problems.  (+ info)
