FAQ - Anemi, hypokrom
(Powered by Yahoo! Answers)

If I pull on my lower eyelid and the inside of it is not white, does that necessarily mean that I am not anemi?

That's the inside of my lower eyelid, not the inside of my eye.

I think I'm anemic because I'm often cold when other people are not, sometimes when I stand up I see spots or sometimes even complete blackness for a few seconds until (I guess this is what's happening) more blood goes to my head. Also, when I stand for a long time my feet turn red or purple. I'm not overweight or diabetic. I'm 5 feet, 9 inches and 135 pounds.

I have asthma and I don't take anything for it.

I was a vegetarian until recently, and I didn't worry about getting the right nutrients.
My friend says that if the inside of my lower eyelid is not white, I'm not anemic.
I'm 16 years old.

Not only by checking colour of lower eye lid, one must check the colour of the tongue, palms, nails also. Other signs and symptoms like hair loss, palpitation, heaviness overchest, irritation, weakness, brittleness of nails etc.should be considered. There is nothing wrong in taking iron tablet even if you are not anaemic.  (+ info)

Could this be Diabetes???

I am a 16 year old female. I am 5ft 4, and 41kg, though I doubt thats necessary.

It's not anemi - have been tested. If not diabetes, what else could it be?

I have been having annoying health problems for the past few months, which doctors have put down to labyrinthitis. Here are my symptoms:

1) Feeling quite woozy and lightheaded a lot of the day.

2) Feeling v. tired all the time, though I sleep 9-10hrs per night.

3) If I sit down for more than 5 minutes, some part of me always goes numb, but doubt this is a symptom.

4) I don't drink a lot, but go to the toilet at least 8 times a day ( again, this could be normal, I don't know, but its annoying!)

5) Memomy - my brain always seems in a cuffufle, like I'll read over something and not know what I just read. Or have a conversation and forget what I said in it.

6) Slightly itchy and uncomfortable down there.

Thanks, any answers welcome.
Thanks for answers so far.
Generally, yes, I do have a healthy diet. I actually feel I have been eating more junk recently, but if anything that should be making me gain weight?

As the doctor believes it is labyrinthitis, I am having no tests now. I have been told every 2 weeks for the past two months to come back in two weeks. That it is labyrinthitis and it will go away, though I feel its getting worse.

Thanks again.

Hi, well certainly a lot of the symptoms you describe are linked to diabetes. But surely you are still having tests? A simple urine test will tell your Dr. if you should have further blood tests for diabetes.
You do seem quite light for your height. It could be a combination of things that are causing your problems. Do you have a normal healthy diet?
My advice is to keep going back to your Dr. to get answers. If you need advice on healthy eating, I can help with that for sure.
But you need a proper diagnosis first.

Hope this helps.
