Can someone suffer from a brain aneurysm and have scheduled surgery days later?

What I mean is.....is it possible for someone to have a double brain aneurysm and then be fine and have surgery for it days later. Wouldn't the surgery have to be right away? And wouldn't a double one be more dangerous and fatal than a single one?

If i have an unruptured brain aneurysm, is it alright for me to do high intensity sports like rowing?

For any of you who don't know, Rowing is very intense and i know a lot of people who have passed out because of the over exertion that is inevitable because of the workouts.
I was recently Diagnosed with an un ruptured brain Aneurysm and i am worried that it could be a fatal mistake to continue rowing.

Funmi is right... you should be talking to your doctor about this. That said, any activity that substantially raises your blood pressure (includes vigorous exercise) could increase your risk of a rupture. Is your doctor recommending treatment? It is very important to look at the different treatment options. Depending on the type of doctor that you see, you may get different answers. You should talk with both a neurosurgeon (who generally does open brain surgery) and an interventional neuroradiologist (who does less invasive catheter based techniques). Depending on many factors (location, size, etc.) there may be more than one viable treatment approach with considerably different risks. Also, I strongly urge you to seek out a medical center that treats a substantial number (more than 50 per year). If you want to msg me, I can tell you some very experienced doctors in your area.  (+ info)

Are there ways to preventing brain aneurysm?

My mother died at a young age from a brain aneurysm. I know that genetics play a significant role in this. She was adopted, though there has been speculation in the family that my grandpa was her biological father. He suffers from many headaches and other head issues. My uncle suffers from severe migraines and head issues as well. (Whether or not they are related biologically, I have no idea)

Anyways, I'm very afraid of this happening to me. I was simply wondering if there was any way possible to avoid this happening to me.

Thank you.

Aneurysms occur when there is a weakness in the blood vessel wall & it ruptures. Almost all are born with them. the only way to treat this is to get a test done that visualizes them and then have them clipped or embolized (essentially removed from circulation). Talk to a neurologist./neurosurgeon about this.  (+ info)

My best just had an aneurysm rupture, how long does she have? Will she be able to recover?

My best friend suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and is currently in the hospital hooked up to a ventilator. The doctors say they can't go in and operate because the rupture is so severe and she's completely unresponsive. Does anyone know anything about aneurysms, can she recover from something like this? How long does she have to live?

She lives in London and I am completely heartbroken because I can't get to her. I feel totally helpless. Any information would be so appreciated.
----------

Sorry about your friend. She had a hemorrhagic (bleed) stroke. It is impossible to know if or how she might recover. Much depends on how quickly she was treated, how much of the brain was damaged, her age, and general health. Some people have recovered from severe strokes so it is possible. Best wishes to you and your friend.

I would write her a long letter. She will enjoy reading it when she is able. In any event, you might feel better having sent it.  (+ info)

How can you tell if you're having a brain aneurysm?

I'm 22 years old and for years I've been terrified of having an aneurysm. Whenever I have a headache or a slight pain in my head, I begin to panic and think that I'm developing an aneurysm.
----------

A brain aneurysm is a bulge in an artery in your brain. The most common type of brain aneurysm looks like a round berry — attached to your artery by a tiny neck. As long as the aneurysm is small and doesn't rupture, it poses little risk to your health. Such aneurysms may go undetected indefinitely and produce no signs or symptoms.

But some brain aneurysms are large enough to put pressure on surrounding brain tissue. Others may rupture at a weak spot in the artery wall, flooding an area of your brain with blood. A ruptured aneurysm may quickly become life-threatening and requires prompt medical attention.

An unruptured brain aneurysm may produce no symptoms, particularly if it's small. However, a large aneurysm may press on brain tissues and nerves, possibly causing:

Pain above and behind the eye
Numbness, weakness or paralysis of one side of the face
A dilated pupil
Vision changes, including double vision
Drooping of an eyelid

If an aneurysm ruptures, signs and symptoms may include:

Sudden, extremely severe headache
Nausea and vomiting
Stiff neck
Double vision
Loss of consciousness  (+ info)

What is the risk of a less than 2mm cerebral aneurysm?

I had an MRA and they found a tiny saccular aneurysm measuring less than 2mm maximum diameter directed posteriorly at the origin of left A1 segment of anterior cerebral artery. I am 29 years old. Any general information about aneurysms and the danger of the location would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like there is a 1% chance each year that it could rupture. Maybe that's similar to the sum of other risks of great bodily injury like driving, going into a convenience store or going to a pizzaria in NY.

But you should find out what kinds of activities might be more dangerous and make sure your blood pressure stays good! Since, you've been to a doctor, you have probaly heard this by now.

Good luck.  (+ info)

What is myotic aneurysm from pancreas transplant artery anastomosis?

A double transplant (pancreas and kidney) has been done and now docs are saying there is a myotic aneurysm from pancreas transplant artery anastomosis.
Please help me understand what this is.
----------

Nic !
Incomplete eradication of the infection will result in progression to sepsis and multiple organ system failure. Peripancreatic infections can result in development of a mycotic aneurysm at the arterial anastomosis that could cause arterial rupture. Transplantation pancreatectomy is indicated if mycotic aneurysm is diagnosed.
