Arthralgia?

I have just been diagnosed with Arthralgia and I have no idea what to do :( I know its joint pain and all that, but I'm so scared of whats causing it...has anyone else got it for no reason, injury, wear and tear ect????
Ok so I went to the physiotherapist the day after I posted that, and I also found out that the blood tests the doctor wants me to have are for reumatoid arthritis :S so it looks like I may have that...I have had joint pain in my knees and legs for ages, especially muscle pain, and I get stiff when I wake up like normal, yet it takes ages for it to loosen up :( I'm an active mum of 3 boys, so am always on the go, climbing stairs, doing school runs, riding to the school with my kids on abike ETC, so I doubt it can be weak muscles like the physio says lol only reason I cudnt push against her hand was because it hurt so much...I will come back and let everyone know how I got on :)

Arthralgia is a temporizing diagnosis. If you are developing arthritis, it may take several weeks or months to develop enough signs and symptoms to be able to make the diagnosis. But in many cases, the pain will subside on its own. This is the case, for instance, with some viruses, which can cause a temporary flare up of arthritis. You should be taking Naproxen or Ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation. Take it as directed, steadily for two weeks. If this is the type of arthritis that will settle down on its own, then that's a long enough trial. If not, go back to your doctor to see if there are other signs or symptoms that may point to a more definite diagnosis.  (+ info)

How do you get rid of Patello-femoral arthralgia and what are some warm ups to do before working out to help?

I have Patello-femoral arthralgia and I workout alot and want to keep working out but got it from working out...but what exercises or things can i do to keep the pain down and from hurting my knees even more..can this be cured..ive had this for a while now over a year..:[
----------

I have it too and I was told there is no sure way to treat it. My physiotherapist said that when working out do low impact exercises such as cycling and swimming. Try not to run as it will just make it worse. I usually run no more than 20 minutes (on a treadmill) and it is ok. Running on soft grass you could probably go longer.
Just try to avoid high impact stuff.

Hope that helps.  (+ info)

What causes arthralgia and myalgia in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever?

Your muscles and joints ache because your body is using all of its energy to fight off infection, not to take care of your muscles and joints. It is like when you have the flu and your body aches, it because your body is trying to fight the infection using all the resources it can.  (+ info)

what is the cause of arthralgia in itramuscular iron therapy?

There is no for-sure answer, but theoretically, any injected material that cannot be broken down can cause irritation because it just ends up sitting in tissue. Theoretically, any injected material can end up in skeletal joints, because the joint capsule does not have a barrier to substances in the blood unlike most other parts of the body. Put it together, and it makes sense that injected iron can cause some arthralgias.

For anemia, oral iron supplementation usually makes sense unless its not tolerated or insufficient.  (+ info)

what is the chloroquine dose in arthralgia due to chikunguniya?

Treatment

There is no specific treatment for Chikungunya. The illness is usually self-limiting and will resolve with time. Symptomatic treatment is recommended after excluding other more dangerous diseases. Vaccine trials were carried out in 2000, but funding for the project was discontinued [4] and there is no vaccine currently available.

A serological test for Chikungunya is available from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Possible role for chloroquine in the treatment of Chikungunya: There is an interesting dialogue, mostly in French, about the possible use of chloroquine in the treatment of the arthralgia associated with Chikungunya.

1. A paper published in South Africa in 1984 concerning 10 cases of Chikungunya showed some effect of CQ in treating the symptoms of arthritis. Brighton SW. Chloroquine phosphate treatment of chronic Chikungunya arthritis. An open pilot study. S Afr Med J 1984 Aug 11;66(6):217-8.

The abstract of the paper: "Over 12% of patients who contract Chikungunya virus infection develop chronic joint symptoms. These symptoms respond only partially to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. An open pilot study on the efficacy of chloroquine phosphate was carried out and 10 patients completed 20 weeks of therapy. Both the Ritchie articular index and morning stiffness improved significantly. In the patient's assessment, 7 out of 10 considered their conditions to have improved. On the basis of the doctor's assessment, 5 of the 10 had improved. These results justify further controlled blind trials of chloroquine in chronic Chikungunya arthritis."  (+ info)

what will happen if Arthralgia occur and i don't bother to cure it?

I think i got Arthralgia (pain in joint with no sign of swelling) because i am taking Cabimazole(5mg) to diagnose Thyroid(T4)...i have been asking why my joints and bones were pain and the doctors don't care about it......what will happen if i diagnose it..??
will my bone easy to get fracture??
----------

Considering joint pain is a common side effect of Cabimazole, I really doubt you got Arthralgia.

As far as your Doctor ignoring your joint pain complaint, demand a proper response from them or get another Doctor.

Doctor are not Gods even though some think they are. There are a lot of quacks out there. Find another Doctor!

GOOD LUCK!  (+ info)

what else could cause arthralgia?

probably since i was 15 years old i have been experiencing some sort of joint pain on and off, but about two years ago it got really bad. the pain was daily and would just not go away. i ended up going to the doctor because around the same time my hair started falling out, i was always tired and getting really sick often.i was diagnosed with arthralgia and referred to a rheumatologist because i had a high ANA titer. i had blood test for a year every three months to check for lupus but since i didnt show any other major symptoms i wasnt officially diagnosed with lupus and was released by my rheumatologist. the pain is now back and my body has been aching(i feels like if i have the flu without the other symptoms) for about a week. Is there anything else besides lupus that can cause these symptoms?
----------

There is a chance that you have a diagnosis I've read about called TMS. Dr. Sarco has written a book called "Healing Back Pain" which you can get used off of Amazon for about nothing. Take a look at that.

Pain like this - of unknown origin - not quite sure what it is.... It's a mystery which Dr. Sarco deals with. But it isn't only back pain - the book is about pain anywhere in the body.

Goot luck with that.  (+ info)

I am a 22 y/o male medically free and complaining of fever and chills of 8 hours duration, what to do?

besides fever I have headache with generalized myalgia and arthralgia
no sore throat or gastric upset, I took Revanin 500mg and Diclofenac sodium and it seems that the fever is going down.....come on doctors is it swine flu?
----------

You can check if you have swine flu through the online tool developed by Microsoft:
http://www.knowabouthealth.com/microsoft-online-tool-for-screening-of-h1n1-symptoms/

It should not be considered as medical advice. If you find that tool suggests you to see a doctor, call a nurse hotline number to confirm this assessment or visit a doctor.  (+ info)

Is arthritis a menopause symptom?

I am over 50 and still not menopause yet. But lately I have morning stiffness and arthralgia in my small distant interphalangeal joints of both hands. Is this a premenopausal signs or is it a osteoporosis sign?
----------

Hello,Dear lady,I can definitely say that one of the first occuring symptoms after the obvious hormonal changes( mood change, hot waves, ceasing of the cycle etc.) cause the actual "felt" discomfort in the menopause. It's a very good sign that you are over 50 years old and you are still in premenopausa..Well,it could be count both as a symptom of first premenopausal signs( not very probable) or a sign of osteoporosis..The latter is more probable and all you have to do is to refer to your GP and He/She will appoint you to visit another specialist(better endocrcinologyst) for examining your bone thickness..Best of luck!!  (+ info)
