Had bad reaction to Lexapro, been off it for 11 days, still having weird symptoms, any ideas?

Just when I though my reaction to this stuff couldn't get any worse this happened: Last night when I went to bed the ligaments, tendons, etc. in my arms and legs went completely stiff and my left arm is still stiff today. I dug really deep and could not find anything like this related to Lexapro. The closest thing I found was arthralgia. The stiffness started the day I took the stuff, but then got better, now got worse. My doctor said I must have metabolized it very slowly. I am also still having palpitations and my blood pressure is fluctuating all over, not to dangerous levels, but between 90/60 and 140/90. If it helps I was recently diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome. My doctor reviewed all of this with me yesterday and thinks it will clear up, but that's easy to say when you're not experiencing it. Any info from anyone who went through anything like this with an SSRI would be great. Not really anything I can do about this, but knowledge is still a good thing.
oh yeah, my lymph nodes and tonsils are swollen too, doctor has seen this, so i'm pretty much out of options. I suppose the damage is done, I'll see if my body can recover from this one.
----------

Lexapro was freakin horrbile with me. I just had bad anxiety...untill my doc threw me on Lexapro...then I was suicidal and depressed.

Anyhooters....I wouldn't say "the damage has been done" it was just an allergic reaction. You will recover. Don't sweat it.  (+ info)

Nurses: please help me with diagnoses?

I dont know what diagnoses to do.
client had severe edema in legs so I wanted to do a diagnosis of "fluid overload." but he was severely hypotensive and getting fluid so i cant do that diagnosis.
He had severe pain with the leg movement yet i cant diagnose him with "acute pain" because he was already getting opoids.
I dont know what to diagnose this person. His main problem is arthralgia from the edema.
----------

Get rid of the Fluid Volume Overload, since pt has enough fluid but it is in the wrong location right now. I would go with 'Imbalanced Fluid Volume', related to electrolytes or else r/t malnutrition could be a reason, or is this is side effect of the meds he is on?
Now about the pain: he is obviously not treated with right dose or right meds since he should not have to experience severe pain. This will interfere with his willingness to get out of bed and he even is at risk for pressure ulcers and definitely DVT r/t prolonged immobility.
Go with " Ineffective Therapeutic Regimen Management " since that is actually the case right now.

Hope this helps!

All the best,

WHAT IS chikungunia fever &its symptoms?

----------

Chikungunya is a relatively rare form of viral fever caused by an alphavirus that is spread by mosquito bites from Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, though recent research by the Pasteur Institute in Paris claims the virus has suffered a mutation that enables it to be transmitted by Aedes albopictus (Tiger mosquito).[1] This was the cause of the plague in the Indian Ocean and a threat to the Mediterranean coast at present, requiring urgent meetings of health officials in the region.

Arthralgia (from Greek arthro-, joint + -algos, pain) literally means joint pain; it is a symptom of injury, infection, illnesses -- in particular arthritis-- or an allergic reaction to medication.

Arthritis (from Greek arthro-, joint + -itis, inflammation; plural: arthritides) is a group of conditions where there is damage caused to the joints of the body. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in people over the age of 55.

There are many different forms of arthritis, each of which has a different cause. The most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease) occurs following trauma to the joint, following an infection of the joint or simply as a result of aging. Furthermore, there is emerging evidence that abnormal anatomy may contribute to early development of osteoarthritis. Other forms of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, which are autoimmune diseases in which the body is attacking itself. Septic arthritis is caused by joint infection. Gouty arthritis is caused by deposition of uric acid crystals in the joint that results in subsequent inflammation. Additionally, there is a less common form of gout that is caused by the formation of rhomboidal shaped crystals of calcium pyrophosphate. This form of gout is known as pseudogout  (+ info)

im on weight watchers following religiously but cant shift any more weight, why?

I am 5'2, 11st 4lb and 20 yrs old. I do an hours walking a day but my arthralgia makes higher intensity exercise hard and painful. I take medications including Olanzapine, Quetiapine, Burspiron and Microgynon and the doctor told me it may increase my appetite and reduce my metabolism, could this be a factor? I want to do swimming and dance again but need my pain to ease before i can. My natural mother was curvy but slimmer. I have an overactive thyroid too. Im not just fat and gorging my face off before you lecture me and judge.
----------

I haven't ever done weight watchers but my roomate does, and I noticed it is about quality not quantity of calories of food, which is great but might be the problem when trying to lose more weight. Weight watchers looks like it doesn't really pay attention to actual input of calories-- I mean, veggies are 0 points if I remember correctly-- but if you eat 3 buckets of broccoli a day it surely isn't just disappearing. At the end of the day all that matters is calories in and calories out, so maybe you might need to incorporate some other plan to supplement your WW... Again I don't really know because I've never done WW but maybe you should lower your points or at least pay attention to calories from everything you put in your body-- including fruits and veggies that usually count as 0.

Also, yeah like the person said above... it seems like you have a few things that you might want to talk to your doctor about first before trying something that might be bad for you and your situation.  (+ info)

----------

SWIM. It is the best form of an entire body workout, and if you swim for an hour a day you will burn around 500 calories. That with your current workout would make you see tremendous changes in your body. Join a gym with an indoor pool during the cold months and swim in a lake during the summer. Good luck! =]  (+ info)

The worst joint pain I have ever had...what can I do?

I have auto-immune related arthralgia that comes in boughts and whenever the pain gets too unbearable I pop a Celebrex (or two if its bad enough), but on friday I started getting really, really bad joint pain so bad I can barely walk for more than five minutes. Ive taken 200mg of Celebrex AND 1000mg of Tylenol but still I cant control the pain. Im at my wits end and I dont know what else to do...does anyone know anything else I could do to help relieve at least some of the pain?
I'm supposed to take the 100mg (one) Celebrex every twelve hours but I've been taking two and it is still not helping. I dont think i should take any more NSAIDS b/c im already at the mas dose for one, and Tylenol doesnt seem to do one thing.
----------

I have arthritis in my lower back and it travels down my leg. It's a good thing you have medicine for it, because I don't and I'm in pain 24/7, however have you tried this medicine called "Ultracet"? I used to take it in conjunction with Celebrex, the medicine really helped me feel less pain or no pain at all. Lately I've been taking Aleve, see if that works for you  (+ info)

Joint PAIN???!!!?

Ok, this is actually about my mom.
She has been experiencing joint pain in her lower arms, and hands for a couple of month. Starting with muscle pain in the area, and now in her feet and toes, arms and hands with severe pain and some swelling.
She went to the ER couple days ago, she was diagnosed with Arthralgia and referred to a Rheumatologist. Her appointment it's in 2 weeks, but the pain gets worst sometimes. She says on a scale 1 to 10 its like an 8.

She read somewhere that some medications that she takes may be related to the pains, Lipitor and Premarim. So I will like to know if anybody knows anything about that.

Im just really worried and concerned about what it could be.
So any information will be appreciated.
THANK YOU!!!!..=)
----------

My doc just put me on Lipitor, and he said to watch out for body aches & pains.

BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR MOM!!!

Keep the appointmen, please, a rhuematologist is a very good doc for her to see to figure this out.  (+ info)
