Teeth pain 3 years after cavity filling.. Infection causing Reactive Arthritis?

I had a few cavities filled in late 2007 and have had pain, sensitivity to cold, etc on those teeth since then. I even have to chew on the other side. I've been to the dentist and he said it was 'probably fine'.
In 2009 I starting having symptoms of reactive arthritis. In other words, a reaction to an infection. The infection has never been found that would cause ReA.
Is it possible have a tooth that is infected after a cavity filling is sealed or harboring bacteria/other pathogens? I've heard of Dr. Weston Price research, claiming the possibility is real.
Any other ideas stories or on occult infections that could be causing this (i.e Lyme, yeast, parasites, etc) is Greatly appreciated!

Why would a dr. who hasn't ever seen my 12 year old son determine he has reactive arthritis?

Results from bloodwork showed a positive ANA. I was told this is an umbrella test for many things. My 12 year olds symtoms include red dots only on joints, such as elbows, knees, and tops of his hands. The red dots are about dime size, or a little smaller. They kind of resemble hives. His knees and elbows are swollen. He has a lot of pain in his joints. He had a high fever for two weeks straight. Then for the past week he has had a low grade fever. This past week the rash finally seems to have gone away, although there was a small amount of bruising where the rash was. He is still in a lot of pain in his joints. I was reading about reactive arthritis, and many of the symtoms do not match. He does not have the frequent urination, or pain when urinating. He does not have dots or peeling on his hands or feet. There isn't any swelling on his genitals, or lesions. He does not have anything going on with his eyes either, like redness or pink eye. What does this sound like to you?

I think the doctor is most likely correct. We had a little girl at our clinic withthe same symptoms and it was the same thing. She is better now but had to do a lot of tests. Get a second opinion if you are not sure,  (+ info)

Chlamydia with reactive arthritis (rheiter's) recurrence...?

So about two months ago I tested positive for Chlamydia and received the standard 1 week antibiotic treatment. It was a little nerve wracking because I also had manifestations of rheiter's (some painless, but disturbing sores on my penis). The sores started to go away, but recently a few more have developed. Is it possible that I still have Chlamydia, or is it just lingering effects?
----------

It's possible that the 1 week of antibiotics wasn't enough. It's been two months so I'd have it checked out again. Reiter's is an autoimmune reaction triggered by chlamydia so it's possible you no longer have the infection but it makes sense to go back to the doctor anyway to be treated for the sores.  (+ info)

two year old niece suffering with reactive arthritis in foot is there any oils to use to help pain?swelling?

Arthritis treatment using Potato Juice -
The raw potato juice therapy is considered one of the most successful biological treatments for rheumatic and arthritic conditions. It has been used in folk medicine for centuries. The traditional method of preparing potato juice is to cut a medium-sized potato into thin slices, without peeling the skin, and place the slices overnight in a large glass filled with cold water. The water should be drunk in the morning on an empty stomach. Fresh juice can also be extracted from potatoes. A medium-sized potato should be diluted with a cup of water and drunk first thing in the morning.

Arthritis treatment using Other Raw Juices -
One cup of green juice, extracted from any green leafy vegetable, mixed in equal proportions with carrot, celery, and red beet juices is good for arthritis. The alkaline action of raw juices dissolves the accumulation of deposits around the joints and in other tissues. A cup of fresh pineapple juice is also valuable, as the enzyme bromelain in fresh pineapple juice reduces swelling and inflammation in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Arthritis treatment using Sesame Seeds -
A teaspoon of black sesame seeds, soaked in a quarter cup of water and kept overnight, has been found to be effective in preventing frequent joint pains. The water in which the seeds are soaked should also be taken along with the seeds first thing in the morning.

Arthritis treatment using Copper -
Drinking water kept overnight in a copper container accumulates traces of copper, which is said to strengthen the muscular system. A copper ring or bracelet is worn for the same reason.

Arthritis treatment using Calcium -
Studies have shown that calcium can help arthritis. Several patients have discovered that joint pains have either been relieved or have disappeared entirely after taking calcium. This mineral should be taken in the form of calcium lactate. Two teaspoons of calcium lactate, each teaspoon providing 400 mg of absorbable calcium, may be taken three times daily in water, before meals for at least four months.

Arthritis treatment using Garlic -
Garlic is another effective remedy for arthritis. It contains an anti-inflammatory property which accounts for its effectiveness in the treatment of this disease. Garlic may be taken raw or cooked according to individual preference.

Arthritis treatment using Bananas -
Bananas, being a rich source of vitamin B6, have proved useful in the treatment of arthritis. A diet of only bananas for three or four days is advised in treating this condition. The patient may eat eight or nine bananas daily during this period and nothing else.

Arthritis treatment using Lime -
Lime has also been found beneficial as a home remedy for arthritis. The citric acid found in lime is a solvent of uric acid which is the primary cause of some types of arthritis. The juice of one lime, diluted with water, may be taken once a day, preferably first thing in the morning.

Arthritis treatment using Alfalfa -
A tea made from the herb alfalfa, especially from its seeds, has shown beneficial results in the treatment of arthritis. One teaspoon of alfalfa seeds may be added to one cup of water. Three to four cups of this tea should be taken daily by arthritics for at least two weeks.

Arthritis treatment using Green Gram Soup -
Another home remedy found useful in relieving pains in the joints is the use of green gram soup. This soup should be prepared by mixing a tablespoon of green gram in a cup of water, with two crushed garlic cloves. It should be taken twice a day.

Arthritis treatment using Castor Oil -
Treatment with castor oil has been found beneficial in arthritis. The procedure, as prescribed by a Spanish doctor, is to boil two tablespoons of castor oil over a stove burner. The oil should then be poured into a glass of fresh orange juice and taken before breakfast daily till the disease is cured. It was advised to patients to take it for three weeks, wait for another three weeks and then repeat it again for another three weeks. It is, however, essential that the patient must take an alkaline diet while adopting this mode of treatment otherwise the value of the treatment will be lost.

Arthritis treatment using Coconut or Mustard Oil -
Warm coconut oil or mustard oil, mixed with two or three pieces of camphor should be massaged on stiff and aching joints. It will increase blood supply, and reduce inflammation and stiffness with the gentle warmth produced while massaging. Camphorated oil is an ancient rubefacient used for the purpose.  (+ info)

Reiter's disease / reactive arthritis?

Does anyone have experience with the disease, and know of any alternative treatments to accompany NSAIDS.
----------

Two forms of reactive arthritis are common: sexually transmitted and dysenteric. The sexually transmitted form occurs primarily in men aged 20 to 40. Genital infections with Chlamydia trachomatis are most often implicated. Men or women can acquire the dysenteric form after enteric infections, primarily Shigella, Salmonella, Yersinia, or Campylobacter. Reactive arthritis probably results from joint infection or postinfectious inflammation. Although there is evidence of microbial antigens in the synovium, organisms cannot be cultured from joint fluid.

I need help finding a good doctor for reactive arthritis.?

For the past 8 years I have been dealing with doctors in a certain HMO here in California that seem to be masking symptoms, not dealing with the root of the problem. I am not satisfied with all the different diagnosis I have been given and would like to know if there is a certain type of doctor I can see that will actually dig deep into my condition and find out the real problem. Things are only getting worse and I am not getting any relief. If anyone knows of a website I can refer to, a specialist, research programs, universities, or any kind of help it would be so appreciated. I will be willing to go outside of my HMO.

For any medical doctors on Yahoo.. What is the impact of C-Reactive Protein Cardiac?

I was tested through a blood test. These are the results
c-reactive protein, cardiac,
rheumatoid arthritis factor,
relative risk for future cardiovascular event.

well, I am a heart patient from birth until I die. What does this mean? In layman words please?
----------

You do not give the complete results, only, apparently, the test names and a risk statement. I will endeavour to explain the relative tests-
The CRP test is sometimes used in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and some forms of arthritis and autoimmune diseases to assess how active the inflammation is and to monitor the treatment. The CRP test is also used to monitor patients after surgery or other invasive procedures to detect the presence of an infection during the recovery period. CRP tests are not specific enough to diagnose a particular disease. Rather, CRP is a general marker of infection and inflammation that alerts medical professionals that further testing and treatment may be necessary. C-reactive protein (CRP) is one of the acute phase proteins that increase during systemic inflammation. It’s been suggested that testing CRP levels in the blood may be an additional way to assess cardiovascular disease risk. A more sensitive CRP test, called a highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) assay, is available to determine heart disease risk.
Rheumatoid factor is an immunoglobulin (antibody) which can bind to other antibodies. Antibodies are normal proteins found in the blood which function within the immune system. Rheumatoid factor though is not normally found in the general population (only found in about 1-2% of healthy people). The incidence of rheumatoid factor increases with age and about 20% of people over 65 years old have an elevated rheumatoid factor. A blood test is used to detect the presence of rheumatoid factor. The blood test is commonly ordered to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid factor is present in 80% of adults who have rheumatoid arthritis but there is a much lower prevalence in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
It would appear, from your statement, that the test results have led the specialist to believe that, I quote what you write in the result , there is a “relative risk for future cardiovascular event.”
You would be advised to consult the relative specialists, or your doctor, for an explanation of these findings and the treatment and lifestyle that you would be expected to pursue in the future.
I add a link for both these tests

Has anyone ever gotten over reiter's syndrome or reactive arthritis completely?

26 year old male.
From my research, it takes 6-12 months for most people to achieve remission. It's been about 14 months straight for me. I've tried to make it with no medications, betting on this being true. Now not feeling better, I'm searching and having trouble finding a story of someone who has gotten better.? In fact, the only two stories I have heard of anyone getting better is Daniel Johns from the band Silverchair and Pat Buchanan (R). Has anyone even achieved remission with medication? If so, what did or do you use?
...Also HLA-B27 posotive.

There needs to be more awareness about this and other autoimmune disorders, respectfully...

Thank you
----------

Typically reiter's syndrome/reactive arthritis should get better over time (within 1-2 years), and in fact if it doesn't you need to see your doctor, as persistent arthritis may be a misdiagnosis for something else (like rheumatoid or seronegative arthritis).

I've seen a few patients (young males mainly) who've done pretty well with no complications. Most did take an antiinflammatory for a couple months but afterwards seemed to settle down without it.  (+ info)
