Does vinegar really help pain of ulcerations of esophagus and stomach?

I have seen advertisements for booklets advertising vinegar cures. One of the supposed remedies for ulcerations of the stomach and esophagus is to drink a little vinegar. Has anyone tried this? If it works, it sure would be a lot healthier than the pills that make osteoporosis worse. Thanks in advance for your answer.
----------

Hi *Granny*, I would steer away from vinegar altogether. I have the same problem. I have totally eliminated all tomato (boo, hoo) products, many dairy products (lactic acid), and anything that has citric acid as an additive. It was really hard to do. But, I don't like taking Prevacid, or any of those meds, for the same reason. I recently read about the olive oil remedy and I'm going to try that. It's a real drag having to deal with acid reflux, isn't it? I miss the foods I now avoid, but, I want to stay healthy. Good luck & God bless.  (+ info)

Is it possible for gallstones to obstruct your esophagus?

I know that in bad cases, it can obstruct your bile duct. Is it possible for the gallstones to spread as high up as your esophagus?
----------

No. "Sludge" may get into your esophagus, but not gall stones. I provided a link, giving the best information I could find on the topic ------quite interesting, factual, and informative.

Some Holland and Barrett only seem to be health stores. Does anyone know if the one in Chester is only a healthstore or does it sell products such as Frys, for vegetarians.

What is this pain in the esophagus that I am having caused from?

I am having pain in my upper esophagus, right in between my ribs. The pain happens randomly or a while after I eat, and this has been happening for a week. It is also swollen and there is a bump where the pain is. I was also having severe heart burns last week, but I haven't had them for a couple of days. I also had an ulcer in the same spot about a year ago that was an inch and a half deep, but it had healed. What is happening?! I am only 16!
----------

Could be another ulcer. Also, possibly a problem with your cardiac sphincter, a muscle that closes off the stomach to prevent acid from getting up into the esophagus. If you are able to feel a bump, I would get to a doc asap. A bump could indicate a problem in the area.  (+ info)

What is a pain in my lower esophagus near my sternum?

I had strep throat and was on antibiotics. That is gone now I have a terrible pain in my esophagus near my sternum. Can't eat or drink without terrible pain. Do you have any idea what this could be or what is causing it?
----------

It sounds like heartburn to me, typical symptoms.

Try Rollaids/Tums or another type of heartburn aid. This should help you out.

Eat/drink slowly, swallowing smaller portions at a time.

As with anything else, if this worsens or you feel it is something more serious, see your Doctor.  (+ info)

What can swallowing difficulties mean in connection to the esophagus?

my mom has been experiencing difficulties in swallowing occasionally these past few days. she told me that she sometimes feel that something's blocking her throat passage whan she swallows normal amounts of food and describes an accompanying sensation of "as if swallowing something very hot". she further describes that this "hot sensation" travels from the back of her tongue through her esophagus and down to her stomach (like it follows the lump of food as it travels from her mouth down to her stomach). whenever this happens, she says that she noticed it to be accompanied by a slight difficulty in breathing and slight sweating. does this indicate any problems with the esopagus? or could it be an indication of any other ailment? she's 51 years old with a blood pressure reading of 120/70.
----------

she needs to see a Dr,a lot of people have swallowing difficulties called achalasia.
older people can develop megaesophagus or another common problem:Barrett's esophagus.
your mom needs an x-ray with barium contrast(its called a barium swallow test)
also, she may need an endoscopy to see the esophagus from the inside.
don't think of cancer right away.
does she have GERD?(acid reflux?)  (+ info)

What herbal medicines/remedies can aid in healing the esophagus?

my esophagus is "raw" due to acid reflux and vomitting because of the acid reflux so id like to know any herbal remedies to help soothe and heal it.
----------

Why are you specifically asking for an "herbal remedy"? Do yourself a favor and go use something that is scientifically validated to be safe and effective. You could try Zantac, but if its really bad, go get some Prilosec OTC.  (+ info)
