How do you get stick straight hair to curl on the ends?

I have stick straight dark blonde hair about halfway down my back.
It's thick and heavy. I want it to curl under a little. Anybody have any suggestions?
By the way I don't blow dry my hair to often because it takes forever. The last time I was at the beauty shop they had two people drying my hair and it took about 20 min. So I usually let it air dry.
----------

You'll have to blow it dry with a big round brush. Dry it one chunk at a time by taking some hair with the brush and follow the brush with your hair dryer. Make sure your brush is under your hair and when you get toward the bottom shape it by curling under.

That's your best bet if you want the style to last all day.

Also, when you're done, try using a good quality hair spray. Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play Harder is a good one. It's pricey at around 15 bucks a can, but it will hold your style nicely.  (+ info)

What happens when you stick a fork in a toaster?

What happens when you stick a fork in a toaster? Everyone says it's so dangerous, but what really happens?
----------

Theoretically, nothing if the toaster is not toasting or is not plugged in. However, the switches have been known to fail and there could be voltage across the positive and negative elements. If so, you could get one heck of a shock.  (+ info)

What can i use to stick rice paper to a cake without the rice paper dissolving?

Its my friends birthday coming up and im making her a cake as part of my gift. I have ordered a personalised rice paper topping to put on the iced cake when its finished.
However, i am concerned if i use icing sugar mixed with water that the rice paper will disolve? If so, what can i use to stick the rice paper to the cake with out it dissolving?
Thanks ;)
----------

If it's a flat paper with a design or image, the rice paper is actually supposed to slowly dissolve, but the image stays behind.

If it a 3 dimensional sculpture (such as a flower), it's better to use it on an unfrosted cake. It might dissolve a little and lose its shape.

Here's a good article about it. It has good tips for how to apply the flat rice paper design. http://www.essortment.com/food/decoratecakeri_sdzl.htm  (+ info)

How do you use a stick concealer for blemishes and acne?

So yesterday i bought my first concealer and i bought it in a stick type. But when i put it on spots and stuff, it doesn't cover up the blemish to well to just dab it with my ring finger. Does anyone have any suggestions for what i should do? Thanks!
----------

I use liquid concealer, not the solid kind. what I do is take a white makeup sponge and put it on there and dab it. so i would get makeup sponges and then dab it on the stick and then on your face. I find if I put concealer slightly above a zit, and then blend it down, it covers it best.  (+ info)

How do I get spaghetti noodles to not stick?

I've tried butter in them but they always stick. Is it just inevitable to get them not to stick together?
----------

It depends on when you are having the problem. If they clump together while cooking, you need to cook them in a bigger pot and make sure you keep the water boiling, lots of activity. Also salt the water well this will help as well. Oil in the water actually does not really help with it sticking together.

If your pasta clumps together after you've removed from the water thats different. Drain you pasta, and either add it to your sauce immediately, or at least add some sauce in with the pasta and stir it around to coat. If you don't coat your pasta at that time it will stick together. You can rince your pasta, but in my experience that just removes taste as well as removing the starch and the starch is important as the startch will bind with the sauce to helpit hold to your pasta.  (+ info)

How do I make my electric wok non-stick again?

It used to be non-stick, but now it's not. But it works great except for all the sticking food, and it was very expensive so I would rather not replace something that mostly works. Anything I can do?
----------

You know there is some controversy on the safety of non-stick coatings. It maybe be dangerous to your health if the coating starts to break down and your food begins to stick to the cooking surface. Scratches in the coating may also be hazardous... or any exposure to the under coating that holds the non-stick surface to the metal base of the pan.

1.What makes pasta stick together?
2.How do you help it stop sticking?
3.What are the main ingredients of pasta?
4.What is the italien phrase for undercooked?
5.What wheat is pasta made from? (is it dorum???)
6.What structure is it made from? (is this carbohydrates???)
7.When was spaghetti first made in the UK?
8.What caused the change in attitudes in eating pasta(in the UK - 1940ish i think)?
9.Why does the roux (butter + flour) have to be carefully stirred?
10.How do you know if the sauce is cooked?
Any help would really be appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Wow everyone htank you so much for your help- I really appreciate it:)
----------

1. starches is what makes pasta sticks together
2. Boil in lots of water so the starches are diluted. Try to time the pasta to be ready just before eating. In other words, don't let it sit too long. Also, some people like adding olive oil or butter to the drained pasta.
3. Pasta is flour, egg and water.
4. Italian phrase is Al Dente (to the tooth).
5. Italian pastas and most dried spaghetti type pastas are made from Semolina flour made from Durum Wheat..
6. Structure? Yes, pasta is mainly carbohydrates and a little protien from the wheat and eggs.
7. spaghetti first made in UK? Don't know.
8. In the USA, pasta became popular after WWII after the soldiers came back from Italy. That's when the craze for pizza started too. At least, that's the story the food network shows keep telling us.
9. Roux... carefully stirred? Roux needs to be constantly stirred so it doesn't burn.
10. Tomato sauce is cooked when it all comes to a boil and simmer about 10 minutes. I work with a lot of Italians when they cook a pasta sauce they actually cook it really quick. In the USA, I was under the impression that cooking the sauce all day helped all the flavors blend. In fact I just found out that it's the opposite. Cooking tomatoes a long time can increase the bitterness in tomatoes.  (+ info)

How do you get over an addiction to chap stick?

I use chap stick all the time. When I don't use it, my lips get really dry. I want to get over this dependence on chap stick. Does anyone else have this problem?
----------

Actually, it's only a psychological addition. Your lips are not as dry as you think they are. Your lips are not responding to the chapstick, you just like the way it feels.

For starters, make sure you are drinking enough water. Secondly, try only using chapstick when you're going to be outside in harsh environments (wind, cold, extreme heat).

The ability to put down the chapstick depends on your will power. If you can't put it down, throw them all out.  (+ info)
