i have turned down brightness on my monitor and taped up my wrists.

You have possibly developed these problems because your workstation is not ergonomically safe. I am a professional in this area and most people do not realise the damage they are doing to their bodies. Email me and I will give you some information about it.  (+ info)

If you have White Dot Syndrome, are you going blind?

If you're talking about MEWDS, or multiple evanescent white dot syndrome, the answer is no. Vision usually returns on its own, without treatment, in 1 to 3 months, and recurrences are rare (10%).

However, the term "white dot syndromes" is used to name a group of inflammatory disorders producing yellowish white retinal lesions, of which MEWDS is only one.  (+ info)

Colored Blind?? Shaken Baby Syndrome!!?

When I was 6 months old I was shaken by my baby-sitter and Im blind in my left eye and Im 15 right now and lately every time I go to the eye doctors they tell me something new. Well today i went to the eye doc and she told me that I was colored blind. She said it was caused by the shaken baby syndrome and that some of my nerves in my eye are messed up or something. But how can I be colored blind when I know my colors and can match clothing together without it having mismatched coloring? And another thing the test they give you to see if your colored blind are hard! My brother agrees with me and he's not colored blind.
----------

If there was damage to the nerve in the back of your eye it can affect your color vision. It doesn't mean you're completely color blind, but it might be more difficult to discriminate certain colors or shades. There are many different types of color blindness and color deficiencies. And yes, some of the color tests are difficult.   (+ info)

how often do people go blind from lasik and where can i find the real statistics?

im thinking about getting lasik eye surgery but i am not sure how often people go blind, get dry eye syndrome, etc.
----------

Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

If you were having twins and only one had a birth defect such as spina bifida or downs syndrome would you?

still keep the pregnancy? Even if one of them would be blind or deaf or could not walk for the rest of their lives?
----------

well having spina bifida myself, I know I would not abort. I grew up living a normal life. Yea I have had close to 50 surgeries. Yea I am in a wheelchair. I however, had awesome friends. I was in a regular class all throughout my schooling. I graduated on time. I know if I didn't have it I wouldn't have been able to do some of the awesome things I have done. I worked with the local March of Dimes and Easter Seals. I was the National Ambassador for Shriners Hospital. I wouldn't have met who I met and know today.  (+ info)

can one go blind from drye eyes?

My eye doctor said that you can go blind from dry eye syndrome. But in my case I wont. But I really don't understand how one can go blind from dry eyes.

And anyone using Restasis and if so did you experience any side effects and what were they?

How long did you use Restasis?

Are there any herbs or supplements I can take to increase tear production?
----------

In regard to your first question about going blind from dry eye the answer is yes. In SEVERE cases of dry eye the eye becomes so dry that it loses its structural integrity and actual breaks down and thins so severely that the cornea will perforate.

In regard to Restasis one of the most common side effects is transient stinging upon instillation of drops.

In regard to how long, Restasis is not a cure for dry eye. It is a treatment to control the condition. This means if you discontinue using the drug the inflammatory issues that have caused the dry eye syndrome in the first place may return and therefore cause the syndrome to worsen to pre treatment levels. So, if you decide to use Restasis, you need to realize it is an ongoing course of treatment.

In regard to supplements there is some evidence that taking supplements such as flax seed oil or omega 3 fatty acids can improve the quality of your tear production.  (+ info)

a person with Frazier's syndrome qualifies for disability?

Frazier's syndrome person with hearing impairment and blind in one eye
----------

It is not the disease that qualifies for disablity payments, it is your functional limitations-difficulty walking, unability to perform any essential function of a job. I know many people with hearing loss and visual impairement who work in the community and do not collect SSD. Also many people who apply need to apply several times to collect.  (+ info)
