How do I deal with a facial blood blister?

I have a blood blister on my face after I tried to pop what looked like a pimple, but apparently wasn't. It is tender and bright red and extremelly big, what should I do to it?
----------

I had a big blood blister and my neighbor told me to get a washcloth...get it wet and squeeze all the water out of it. Then put it into the microwave oven for about a min. When it comes out it will be very hot, but the heat will draw the blood up and out. It opens the pores. But you have to leave it on the blister for a while. Hope that helps.  (+ info)

What will a doctor do to treat an infected blister?

I have a blister on my little toe that is red and oozing. Clearly infected. I'd like to treat it at home but I think it may warrant a doctor's visit. Any idea what they'll do? I'd like the antibiotics, but I'm not real fond of the idea of someone poking at it - it hurts like the dickens! Thanks!
----------

They'll drain it and send a sample to the lab to know what kind of antibiotics to give you.
If you're really worried about it hurting, ask for sedation or a pain blocker and they shouldn't have a problem accommodating you.  (+ info)

How do I treat a painful blister on my foot?

I have a small but very painful blister forming on the sole of my foot. It really hurts though, I can't actually walk on it because it feels like a stone is being lodged into my sole.
How can I get rid of the pain (and the blister) quickly? It's impossible to even walk on it.
----------

Pop that blister. Keeping that blister will prolong the pain... Add alcohol to prevent infection. Blisters mean that part of your foot is forming a callus. Popping it makes the process go on faster. There is no complication in doing this.  (+ info)

How can I cure a feet blister as soon as possible ?

I'm currently doing crosscountry and I just got a blister on my feet. That usually happens when i play do a different sport each season. So how can i cure the feet blister asap, should i put ice soak it up in cold, warm water what should I do ?
----------

1. Clean around the area of the blister with warm water and soap. Consider adding anti-bacterial ointment.

2. Decide if you want to let the blister heal by itself or whether you want to drain it. As a general rule of thumb, if the blister is not making walking painful, then you should let it heal by itself.

3. Drain the blister if it is impractical to let it heal otherwise:

* Sterilize a needle with alcohol and boiling water.

* (Insert the needle at the side and base of the blister and allow all the liquid to drain. , and carefully insert at the edge of the blister and allow it to drain.

* Do not remove the loose skin that covers a blister, as this opens it to infection.

* Cover the blistered area with a plaster, mole skin or other protective cover. Try to avoid placing the cover on any forming new skin which will initially be tender.e

4. Allow the blister to heal in the open air as much as possible.

5. If you continue the exercise which caused the blister apply a donut shaped piece of mole skin to the area. The donut hole should be the area with the healing blister skin. Leaving it uncovered will allow it to heal, while the moleskin around it will prevent other friction.

6. Check daily and Continue keeping it clean.  (+ info)

What could have caused this reddish blister on my baby's hand that has tiny bubbles inside it?

I noticed a welt/blister developed on my baby's left hand two days ago. Originally I thought it was a mosquito bite but it has not yet disappeared. And tiny bubbles or bumps began to form inside this blister. Is it viral? Is it an insect bite? Should I go to the dermatologist or allergist?
----------

Try using some hydrocortisone on it and put a band-aid over it so the baby doesn't get any in it's mouth. It should take the redness and irritation down a few notches. If it doesn't go away after a few more days. Go to the dermatologist.   (+ info)

How do you treat a burn blister on a child?

My son burned his arm on his nightlight and now has a blister that is about the size of two dimes side by side. How do I treat this burn/blister? Should I take him to the doctor for antibiotics or can this be treated at home. He is not complaining of any pain and didnt even cry when it happened.
----------

Even though the area sounds small if it has blistered it is a second degree burn so I would be inclined take him to the doctor and let them take a look at it. You don't mention his age but if he is under 5 years then I would definitely do this as young children's skin is very delicate. He is unlikely to need antibiotics unless there is infection, but they can put the most appropriate dressing on which will protect the blisters and help keep infection out. The doctor may also give him a specialist ointment with silver in it which aids healing - I got that when I had burn blisters and it helped.

A couple of 'Don'ts' - Don't burst the blisters as they are keeping infection out. Don't put anything (butter, ointments etc) other than prescribed on the burn as they both stop the heat escaping and create a environment where germs can develop increasing the risk of infection.

The most surprising thing to me is that he didn't appear to feel pain - I had a scald which blistered and it was very painful particularly at first. So I would definitely mention that point to the doctor, not to worry you - but just in case he has impaired sensitivity. Of course he could just be being brave, you don't mention his age so I don't know whether that is probable or not.

Take care, hope all goes well.  (+ info)

What is the quickest way to get rid of a blister on the lip?

I dont have herpes but I do have a blister on my lip and want to rid of it quickly.
----------

1. Don't pick at it. Don't even touch it if you don't have to. You don't want to bring germs unnecessarily to it.

2. Apply vaseline or your favorite non-flavored chapstick as often as your lips get dry. Burt's Bees is wonderful. KY jelly works in a pinch, too.

3. Stay hydrated. Nothing helps your body like water.  (+ info)

How should I deal with a blood blister?

I happen to have two blood blisters, one on the right big toe and another on the left big toe. I have a parade that I have to march later today; how should I deal with the blood blister? Or should I even be marching in the parade?
----------

Wash the area and let it dry. Lance the blister with a sterile needle and let it drain. Apply a disinfectant like alcohol or peroxide, let it dry, and apply a bandage and Neosporin if possible.

If the blister is from marching, it might be tough going. If it's clean and bandaged you'll be ok. Put your shoes on and see if it hurts... The pain is what is going to be the deciding factor, that is, if you can put up with it long enough to march. Keep your shoes off as much as possible after marching and let your feet breathe.  (+ info)
