Does it effect you differently depending upon what part of the brain gets hit when you get a CONCUSSION?

like does it effect you differently gettin hit on a certain side of the brain
----------

Actually - what happens in a concussion is that the brain "bounces" to the other side of the skull - and bruises or bleeds there as well -- so you end up with two injured areas - and yes - sometimes the certain area effects you differently -
You need an x-ray to diagnose a concussion -- and need to be observed so you do not have a brain bleed (like Natash Richardson did) --  (+ info)

Can you tell is something is wrong long term with your brain/head after a concussion?

Pleaseeee! Don't believe it. Following a concussion in most cases the patient returns to complete normalcy. complications generally only set in if there is some internal bleeding in the brain or swelling. This would show symptoms of extreme dizziness and euphoria. Lack of concentration and weakness.perhaps Even blacking out. After any head trauma it is advisable to have ct scans to look for damage. If all tests are ok , You shouldn't worry.  (+ info)

I know almost everything about the brain, except one thing; Does it effect the thalamus during a concussion?

Concussions and related trauma usually affect the brain matter on the exterior the most. (Getting hit in the forehead badly can really damage the prefrontal cortex) But if the concussion is bad enough, the thalamus may receive some damage. It just depends on the severity of the concussion.  (+ info)

what is a brain concussion that usually happens after one had an accident?

Concussion, or mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), is the most common and least serious type of traumatic brain injury. A milder type of diffuse axonal injury, concussion involves a transient loss of mental function. It can be caused by acceleration or deceleration forces, or by a direct blow. Concussion is generally not associated with penetrating injuries. Or like the lady above said it is like a brain bruise.  (+ info)

How long after concussions do brain hemorrhage occur?

I had concussion about 5 days ago, My head has stopped hurting and I feel fine, the spot on my head is still a bit soft but almost back to normal, I did not go to the hospital. I just want to be safe, none of the hemorrhage symptoms, do you think I'll be fine?
----------

At any point. That's just it there is no way of knowing. A clot could be formed and something like a hit to the head could jog it lose. Head aches are warning signs. Most likly though you'll be fine just you NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR concussions can KILL YOU!  (+ info)

How do you get a concussion and how much does it hurt and affect you?

i heard a concussion gives you brain damage is this true?
can i avoid a concussion when im in WWE?
----------

Concussions ARE damage in the brain. If the brain damage is severe enough, and not treated, you will fall asleep, and will never wake up, in specific words, you die. If its minor, and treated its fine, if not, you'll suffer some pain. WWE is fake, its too painful what you see on T.V, its acting. If you get a severe concussion, YOU NEED HELP IMIDIETALLY!!, if not, you die, and they will most likely do surgery on you whether you like it or not.

Its actually painful, and you get bad, bad headaches, and you can get blacked out, (which means your unconcious for a few seconds), or, you can go into a coma, which is unconcious for a few minutes - to hours.  (+ info)
