ECG : How would the electrical axis of the heart change during branch bundle (left and right) block?

What factors affect the orientation of the mean electrical axis of the heart?

How would the electrical axis of the heart change during branch bundle (left and right) block?

Explain the physiological reason(s) for any differences in the mean electrical axis under the following conditions.
a. lying down versus sitting up.
b. inspiration versus expiration.
----------

LEFT BUNDLE BRANCH BLOCK..electrical axis moves to the left because the current stays longer in the left ventricle as it is trudging slowly cell by cell to depolarize the left ventricle
RIGHT BUNDLE BRANCH BLOCK.. electrical axis moves to the right for the same reason. you get an extra R wave called R prime with this kinda block. your qrs will be RsR'  (+ info)

when reading the EKG of someone with right ventricular hypertrophy and right bundle branch block on the V1?

lead why is the t wave inverted ? does anyone have any explanation for the inversion of the T wave
----------

T wave inversion in V1 to V3 could be due to right bundle branch block or previous anterior wall myocardial infarction. T-wave inversion (what shows up in the three "abnormal" leads) can be caused by anything from hyperventilation to potassium depletion to positioning of the leads. It can, of course, also signify some non-specific heart disease, but in the absence of symptoms this is extremely difficult to know. I would move forward with a stress echo...  (+ info)

Can i die from smoking weed if i have right bundle branch block?

please no morals just honest answers..

thanks
I've been smoking cannabis for 2 years. 8 monthes ago i had a cocaine overdose and quit drugs completely. the doctors said i have absolutely no signs of permenant damage but after several tests (the initial hospital visit didnt pick this up) they said i have RBBB. said i might have had it since birth it was very minor. life is precious to me and i dont want to put myself at danger but the one drug i really miss-- is weed.

If your heart is healthy, a RBBB is nothing. Smoking on the other hand, cigs or weed, is bad for your heart. Congrats on quitting, stay strong.  (+ info)

Should Complete Right Bundle Branch Block be a concern for me? 26 year old healthy male?

ECG shows I have complete RBBB. Quite a surprise. I'm very healthy and fit. Can someone please help me by explaining what this means for my health? Thanks
----------

Bundle branch block (BBB) is a relatively frequent finding on electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG). Sometimes BBB can be an indication of a significant underlying cardiac disease that needs to be treated and sometimes it has so little significance that no treatment is necessary at all. There are two types of BBB: Right bundle branch block (RBBB) effecting the right side of the heart and left bundle branch block (LBBB) effecting the left side of the heart. RBBB commonly occurs in normal, healthy individuals, but with findings of RBBB on the ECG you should be further checked for conditions that could affect the right side of the heart or the lungs. Conditions like blood clots to the lung (pulmonary embolus), chronic lung disease, cardiomyopathy, and atrial and ventricular septal defects. Your physician needs to be sure that your RBBB has no other medical significance. If the screening exams turn up no medical problems, and they frequently are negative, it can be written off as a “normal variant,” and safely ignored. LBBB is usually more serious, but it too can appear in normal healthy people.

Considering your age it is more likely to be just a "normal variant" and have no medical significance with no effect on your health unless something else shows up with further screenings. Talk to your physician about how it will effect your health. He knows your medical history and is better qualified to answer your questions.  (+ info)

I have Bundle Branch Block, Right what is it?

I have Bundle Branch Block, Right im 16 years old. My docter told me a while back but now im curious what does it do? can it turn into something serious? do i need to worry about it or anything? ANything will help thanks =D

A bundle branch block refers to a defect of the heart's electrical conduction system. In all cases, right ventricle and left ventricle will contract simultaneously. But in right bundle branch block, the left ventricle will contract first followed by the right ventricle. In other words, there is a fraction of a second's delay in the contraction of the right ventricle. This is due to the defect of the electrical conduction system on the lower right side of the heart.
The only treatment required for isolated right bundle branch block (RBBB) is periodic follow-up and evaluation.  (+ info)

How does a bundle branch block show up on an EKG?

A QRS complex of sinus node origination, but greater that 0.12 seconds (3 little boxes). Of course clinical diagnosis, including whether an LBBB or RBBB can only be acheived via a full 12 lead EKG  (+ info)

Is Left Ventricular Hypertrophy's reversible.....and is Right Bundle Branch Block reversible...?

Is Left Ventricular Hyperthrophy reversible.....and is Right Bundle Branch Block reversible .If blood pressure is lowered and controlled can the above condition be reversed. Pulmonary Embolism has been ruled out. Also want to know of suggestions about how to lower blood pressure without blood pressure pills.
----------

As the nurse above said, no and no. The toast is burnt...no real undoing it, surgery or not. As far as blood pressure control without medication...there are rare individuals who loose a great deal of weight and start vigorously exercising daily and eat a strict diet that can affect enough of a change to make a difference. I emphasize this is the very rare individual...I've seen it twice out of thousands of patients.

Blood pressure control is key to helping the circumstances you describe - so now is not the time to get resistant about taking medication. Take the medication and if you can make the changes...the medications can be stopped, then.

Other things can contribute to LVH
-arrhythmia
-CAD
-Obstructive sleep apnea
-valvular malfunction
-poorly controlled blood pressure

Fixing any secondary cause will help substanially too.

Good luck.  (+ info)

Right bundle branch block pattern shown in EKG?

Last night i had a ekg it showed a right bundle block branch pattern
I'm not really too sure what it means and having a hard time finding any information that makes any sence online..
----------

As electrical impulses come down the middle wall of the heart from the heart's pacemaker cells, they divide into 2 parts: right and left bundles of fibers that carry electrical impulses to the muscles of the right side of the heart and the left side of the heart. When you have right bundle branch block, it means that the bundle of nerves that would ordinarily carry electrical impulses to the right ventricle to make it beat have something that blocks or delays the transmission of that electrical energy. It can be caused by several things. It can be significant or mild. It can have a fairly large impact on your health or almost none at all. In order to know what it means for you and your heart and health, you have to talk to your particular cardiologist, who knows your particular health history, what might have caused this bundle branch block you have, and how serious it is for you and your life. Your own doctor knows all of that better about you than anyone on line ever will, and never ever hesitate to ask these kinds of questions before you leave the doctor's office. You should not have to go on line to learn about something on your ekg. You should understand it before you walk out of the doctor's office. It is good to go on line to get information, but if you're in the doctor's office having an ekg, that's the place to ask and get information until you understand it fully, since that's the person who can always relate it to you and your health. Good luck to you, and good health to you!  (+ info)

what is the sequence of repolarization causing the t-wave inversion in bundle branch block?

In the normal heart, depolarization is from subendocardial region to epicardial region (inner to outer) and repolarization is from epicardium to subendocardial region. That is why both depolarization wave (QRS) and repolarisation wave (T wave) are both upright.

When depolarization is abnormal as in bundle branch block or WPW syndrome, repolarization is from subendocardial region to epicardial region. That is why T waves get inverted.  (+ info)

Anyone have Cardiomyopathy, bundle branch block, rentinopathy, poor muscle tone, and a form of autism?

These are all my symptons and its so frustrating because no one can tell me what is causing it all. Its thought to be Mitochonrial disease possibly but still no one knows and I'm 32 now...., but does ANYONE out there share these problems with me???? Please, Please help me.
----------

I have Cardiomyopathy...got it from a fluke virus, I have bundle block branch, I have a leaking valve, I now have a heart murmur and enlarged heart. I have been on Atenolol, digoxin, furosemide, lisinopril, Simvastatin for several years now. My condition did improve some from these drugs. I have been living a normal life. Just make sure you have a good cardiologist and go for your check ups.  (+ info)
