I hate burns. I was out on the boat a few days ago and was using my wind-proof lighter and torched one of my fingers. It turned into a big blister which means it was a second degree burn. My personal treatment for it has been just to keep it clean and leave it alone. I only covered the area with a bandaid once it began to burst.

I use Gold Bond for pain associated with burns. Anything with menthol in it. It has a cooling effect and counteracts the burning sensation. Aloe Vera is also wonderful and helps prevent scarring of the area as well. Take a cutting of the plant, split it down the middle and put the halves right on the burn. I had an ex bf who did this for a massive second degree burn on his arm. He had no scar at all and was still able to continue at his job as a mechanic with the injury. Hope this helps.  (+ info)

Burns?????????????

For the followinf injurie i neeed to find :
Types?
Causes?
Signs?
Symptoms
Treatment or management
plz help, in full sentences plz
----------

Types of burns can include unintentional and intentional.
Unintentional burns happen, for example, when you drink sulfuric acid thinking that it is in fact water.
Intentional burns happen when you drink sulfuric acid knowing that it is in fact sulfuric acid.

Causes can include stupidity and depression.

Signs of burns can include blisters, charring, and loss of life.

The symptoms are typically excruciating pain, and learning the crucial difference between sulfuric acid and water.

The treatment of burns are dependent upon the cause. If the cause is stupidity, a smack across the head is usually sufficient to treat a burn. In the event that it is not, however, proper application of salt must also be considered. In the event of depression, Prozac and/or Zoloft may be prescribed by a qualified psychiatrist.

What kind of exercise burns as many calories as running?

I'm trying to lose weight, and I'm getting tired of running everyday to do so. But running burns so many calories, so I feel guilty just walking because then I'm not burning as much and therefore not losing as much weight. I've tried riding a bike, but I'm bored of that, too. Is there some kind of exercise that burns as many calories as running .. something new I can try?
----------

Billy Blanks' BootCamp Elite cardio videos or look at www.beachbody.com for the turbo jam or any of the cardio workouts. I've used the BootCamp before and burned a LOT. Currently on P90X, the Cardio X video and Plyometrics will burn MORE than just running.  (+ info)

What is the best remedy for burns from splashing oil?

I deep fry snacks often, and sometimes a little oil splashes onto my hands...

Doesn't make a deep burn, but makes a red rash that burns.

What is the best remedy for it?
Or atleast to stop the burning?
Applying oil helps soothe the burning, but I'm afraid it would lock the heat in?
----------

NO! Don't put ice on! Adding ice to your burn WILL cause splinters that burst with blood and liquid.

What do internal burns look like from the exterior of the body?

I am learning how to apply stage makeup for a horror-themed interactive theater group. A character is supposed to have been electrocuted, which can cause internal burning. I know with internal bleeding there are exterior signs on the skin but what about internal burns?
----------

Hmm, hard question. If I'm not mistaken, in electrocution there may be external burns to the skin where the electricity left the body--fingers, maybe? That's a guess.

If you look up "capital punishment" you can probably find a graphic description of what happens when someone is electrocuted, including what the body looks like when it's over.  (+ info)

How do I know how many calories my body burns naturally?

I like to count my calories so that I know how much I ate that day and how much I need to burn off. But I'm not totally sure how many calories my body burns on its own just doing everyday things. This brings me back to my question of how do I know how many calories my body burns and how many I need to burn when I am working out.

When should I start putting Vitamin E on my burns?

I burnt myself a week ago on my arm and the burn is starting to heal. It has the scab on it and the edges are red, hopefully everything is okay so far? I've been cleaning it and putting neosporin on it daily. I want to start using vitamin E eventually because I heard using it on burns helps minimize scarring. When should I start putting vitamin E on? Is it too early?
----------

Girl, sorry to burst your bubble regarding vitamin E oil, but researchers has shown that there are very little to none benefits for using vitamin E Oil for treatment of scars.
Have a look at the links supplied as it will give more understanding on scars and treatment therefore.
One of the best ways to limit burn scars is to prevent infection, keeping them moist and let the body do his thing.

how to avoid burns on the hands while cook with hot chili pepper?

Recently cooked with red hot chili peppers afterward my hands start to feel hot and it burns. Even after i wash my hands with soaps many times, it doesn't work. It's there a way to cook with hot peppers and avoid hands being burns afterward???
----------

I know everyone says gloves, and yes that works fine. But who has rubber gloves always on hand or wants to put them on just to chop up a quick hot pepper to put in the dish.

I have worked out a way to do the pepper without coming in contact with the bad parts.

The heat is in the seeds and the white membrane parts inside.

So if you don't touch those parts you're OK.

Cut the pepper in half lengthwise. Hold it on the outside only. Use a small spoon and scoop out the insides (seeds and membranes). Or for a small pepper, hold with tongs. Place it on your board and chop without touching it.

Wash off the board and knife without touching them. Use lots of soap.

Works every time.

If the vapors in the air bother you (or family), take it outside to perform the same procedure. Then put it in a glass of water when you take it back into the house.  (+ info)
