What is the life expectancy for small cell carcinoma?

Hi. My mom was just diagnosed with small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) and it is in the early stages THANKFULLY! however, i am only 17 and she is hesitant about giving me info and telling me what the future holds for our family, especially since she is a single parent. If you could please give me some info to help me better understand and how to help my mom beat this disease i would forever grateful!!! Life expectancy, treatment, and any encouragement techniques as she is very depressed. thank you all!!!!!!
----------

Small cell grows quickly, much quicker than non small cell. but small cell responds better to chemo treatments. Your mom may be advised to also have WBR (whole brain radiation) as often lung cancer travels to the brain. Since caught very early, she has a good chance of ridding herself of cancer, but will have to have regular scans as recurrence is almost always. Attached is a yahoo lung cancer group, there you will find people that have beaten small cell and are still surviving and are N.E.D. (no evidence of disease) after a couple of years of treatment.  (+ info)

How old is old enough to put my child in a walker?

My son is 4 and a half months, weighs 12 lbs. He is holding up his head on his own, and moves his feet like he wants to walk. He can stand with my help. Could I put him in a walker yet, or should I wait a couple more months?
----------

I would wait a couple more months. Your baby may seem to be able to hold his head up on his own, but for what length of time, and will you be watching him continually? Also, early walking, especially this early, is hard on bone development in infants. It can cause deformation in bone structure due to premature weight being applied to bones that are not formed well enough to hold up the body. Though the walker helps distribute this weight, infants under 6 months are generally too small to sit properly in a walker, which makes weight distribution extremely difficult to achieve.

One more reason to reconsider this move is that walkers tend to give parents a bit of freedom, which can cause them to leave the child unattended for too long. One minute away from your baby is too long for a 4 month old infant in a walker.  (+ info)

Is it true that baby walker help children walk sooner?

My girl is 9 mth and now she can hold on object and stand up by her own. May I know is it true that baby walker help children walk sooner?
Thanks.

No. My kids both walked at 10 months and neither ever had a walker. I am wary of products that have a baby supported by their crotch.
Humans have learned to walk with out gadgets for many many many years.  (+ info)

What does the number that is printed into a bottle of Johnnie Walker gold label mean?

My friend 'accidently' drank his sons bottle of johnnie walker gold label and then found out how much they cost and that his son was saving it for a special occassion. We have been looking around to replace this bottle but are concerned that this bottle has an 02 imprinted into the glass at the bottom of the bottle. The son specifically wants an 02 bottle, is this a batch number or year number or something else? So far I have found 12s and 08s but no 02s! All help appreciated!
----------

If it's imprinted into the bottle, it's just a batch numba of the bottle, or when it was made. If it's a gold label bottle of J.W., it'll be a certain year batch, or in lay-mans terms how many years its been brewed.  (+ info)

How do you open a Johnny Walker bottle?

Any idea how you open a Johnny Walker bottle that has a plastic dispenser in it? When I remove the metal cap there's this plastic dispenser and it doesn't pour out. I've tried pushing it in, twisting it, and nothings working.

How old is my bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch?

I have a bottle of Johnnie Walker Scotch and I am trying to figure out how old it is. There are some numbers and letters on the back.

LKML22582125

What do they mean? And how can I tell how old it is?
Thanks!
----------

if there isn't a date on it, you will have to contact the company and give that code to the company and they might be able to give you that info

just for your information: it really doesn't matter... if its a 12 year scotch that was bottled yesterday, its worth the same as a 12 year scotch that was bottled 100 years ago... spirits don't improve once bottled, so other than a "cool" factor, that may impress some friends/family, its worth no more.  (+ info)

Is my 9 month old ready for the push type of walker?

Thinking of buying her the V-tech push walker. She has been standing on her own for up to 5 seconds, but no steps yet. I'm wondering if she'll really be able to use this and walk? Anybody have experience with these types of walkers? Could your baby get it going and push it to walk while they just started standing on own? Is it too early to buy? Thanks.
