Strangely disproportioned body?

My body is really strange, my legs are average, and have always carried more weight around my waist, but my back and shoulders seem larger than the should be, and make me look bigger than i actually am.
I dont have muscely arms or anything.. so its not that i work out hugely..
Is this just something i have to live with.. or is there any tips ?
----------

You sound like the apple shape. Concentrate your toning excersise on your midsection- and look online for fashion tips for your body type. There are some ways you can dress to de-emphasize your larger upper half (in a similar way to how I have to dress to de-emphasize my larger lower half). There are lots of people like this- there is probably nothing strange about you.  (+ info)

How much more will I grow???

Hi, I am 14 on June 17 and am currently 5"4 roughly. Most of my friends are taller than me and it's getting me down quite a bit, it wouldn't, but personally i think i look quite disproportioned, almost like, my torso has grown but my legs haven't yet. Will I get any taller? Or is this it?
----------

you will continue to grow until you're 25. when i was your age i was 5'6 and am now 5'9 so expect to grow a few more inches at best. although its disheartening being the "short friend" everyone is built differently so embrace it, besides big things come in small packages, just own it  (+ info)

Uneven disproportioned labia?

I'm pretty sure this is normal, and I haven't seen it myself yet, but my gf is absolutely disgusted by her own vagina. She says it isn't even at all. Like one lip is sort of big and folds over you know, and she said the other is very small and hardly there. Is this normal or anything to worry about? I don't know how to convince her that not everyone is even.
Okay, I saw it.

All is normal in the land of vagina. Can't believe she was worried.

She is normal. Girls come in all different shapes and sizes.

There's no way you can force yourself to fit into something. You can try Limited Too and Forever 21 for other bra options, and they might have some pushup/padded bras.  (+ info)

Why do i hate myself so much?

I don't understand why, but i seemed to have always hated myself, i can even remember as a child growing up, having feelings that i just really hate myself sometimes. I feel and am so ugly, and my body is disproportioned and I can never measure up to any girl! I do not understand why I feel like this.. But all I know is that this feeling is real and its not a disorder because i really am ugly...

We always know how to criticize ourselves. When asked all of us can come up with a million things wrong with ourselves. iI's sad really.

The up side is that just how we have learned to put ourselves down, we can also learn how to change our perspective. There are tools and techniques, steps you can take to help you. I am a coach and counselor and work with people just like you everyday. I can assure you that what you experience is real to you because you learned it. And just as you learned it and have gotten into the habit of perpetuating it, you can learn new ways of coping.

I have gone through the experience myself of reformulating myself and now for years have been helping others transform their lives. It is possible. Honestly. No one is perfect but we all have lots of gifts and amazing things about ourselves that no one ever took the time to point out while they were bringing us down.

Contact me if you'd like some help. No obligation. Let's explore what other possibilities there are. I assure you it's a process that doesn't happen overnight but can help you finally feel about yourself the way we were meant to... proud.  (+ info)

what is my body shape?

my waist is 27-28" , my hips are 33" my bust is 36.5" and my ribs are 27". my body feels all disproportioned. what type of body shape do i have? what types of things should i do to flatter that body shape? I am 17 and in high school.
----------

According to studies into human aesthetics, your proportions are close to an "ideal" hourglass shape. You may feel disproportioned, but you probably make everyone around you quite jealous of your figure - only 9% of women have an hourglass figure, and hourglass-shaped women are, according to recent research, likely to live the longest of all the body types.

Wear fitting tops that will show off your figure - even a simple fitted tee-shirt on a well-proportioned person looks fantastic. Don't be self-conscious - you probably look incredible, and don't even know it... :)  (+ info)

Workout for an hourglass figure?

I have a curvy, hourglass figure. However, I'd like to lose some weight around my thighs, hips, and tummy. If possible, I'd like to further define my shape, as well. I don't want bulky muscles, or disproportion in my figure. What's the best workout/diet plan?

My 4 week old has a small red spot on the top of her head...?

It is not raised or a bump. I have read all about these "strawberry patches" but it seems like those spots are raised off the skin. I do not know if this matters, but during delivery I pushed for 2 hours then to be told I had CPD (cephalopelvic dysproportion) and she ended up being a c-section baby. They told me that for those 2 hours when I was pushing her head was hitting my pelvis, I don't know if that would have caused this either.

scoliosis stretches to fix me?

I feel hopeless. I was diagnosed in the 7th grade with mild scoliosis and have just recently been researching it. I became disgusted with my physical unbalance and general disproportion. My left shoulder is higher than my elongated right lower shoulder and my lower back curves toward the left I believe. Which side do I stretch and which do I strengthen?
----------

First the exercising:
Ask your spine doctor to check the status of your scoliosis. Following the appropriate medical work-up, ask for a PT evaluation, so you can be placed on an appropriate PT program.

Phase 1 focuses on education, posture, and flexibility to decrease pain. Phase 2 emphasizes strength and fitness activities to improve function by working on your core muscles. This will help with the soreness.

Yoga can also help to strengthen the muscles of the back. But exercise, PT, and yoga are not a cure for scoliosis and will not be able to correct the abnormal curve.

Now your body image:
You have to have a strong sense of self and not let it mess with your idea of body image. I had a spinal fusion with iliac crest bone graft in 1985 (13 yrs old). I still have a 40 degree curve, a prominent shoulder blade, one shoulder is higher, my hips a little uneven, and rib prominence on one side. But my spine is stable, no breathing or cardiac problems and I carried two pregnancies without a hitch.

The one shoulder that is higher makes it easier to sling a shoulder bag on. And those uneven hips...that one that juts out a little more is a perfect resting spot for an infant.

I have no problem wearing backless things. I think I have a great back scar. The hip scar, not so pretty. But everyone, EVERYONE, has problem areas on their body. I'm an RN, I've seen thousands of naked bodies, no one is perfect. Here are some other famous people who share scoliosis with us: http://www.scoliosis-world.com/famous_people_with_scoliosis.htm

Some concern about one's appearance is normal, but an obsession with one's appearance is not. If you think you might be more than concerned, talk to a professional.

I'm as normally functioning as anyone (are any of us really "normal"?). I never got off schedule with school. Graduated college at 20 and have been an OR nurse for 17 years, one of the most physically demanding areas of nursing (lots of lifting and lots of standing in one place for long periods). I've had 2 children without difficulty (didn't even use an epidural). I love to travel (I don't set off metal detectors), yoga (though the fusion prevents some positions), and SCUBA dive. I can pretty much do anything I want...but don't tell my husband I use the scoliosis to get out of vacuuming :)  (+ info)
