How long after a cervical cryo-freeze do you leak fluids?

I had a cryo-freeze procedure last week to kill cervical cancer cells. I know the doctor said to allow my cervix to heal for a month, and not to douche, use tampons, or have intercourse during that time. Has anyone had this done, and how long after wards do you leak the fluid?
----------

Typically patients experience watery discharge and sloughing of cervical tissue for 3-4 weeks after surgery. Be sure to follow all of your doctor's recommendations, due to the high risk of infection during this time. The post-surgical period should not be painful, so call your doctor if anything feels abnormal. Good luck.  (+ info)

What does Cervical Displasia mean if you were born without a cervix?

I have MRKH ,which ,means i was born without a uterus and cervix. And i am in a support group and i was asking everyone if they got the cervical vaccine/hpv shot. Even though i dont have a cervix my doctor wants me to get the shots just in case. My question is how can someone have Cervical Displasia if they dont have a cervix. A girl in my support group said she had this and they caught it early .Can anyone give me some information?
----------

You can still get it because you still have a vagina. Even though you dont have the actual characteristics of a cervix, you still have the spot in your vagina where it SHOULD be, and the fleshy tissues there. So its still possible to get the virus.  (+ info)

What do you think about the cervical cancer jab for girls the Government are discussing?

This would be given to girls aged 12 to 13 in three doses over six months at a cost of £300 a course. The vaccine would help prevent cervical cancer as it protects against the STD, Human Pappillomavirus infection HPV which causes most cases of cervical cancer. The Government have agreed to it in principle but they have to review the costs to the NHS. Personally I think this jab can only be a good thing as so many women die of cervical cancer in this country (over 1000 a year) and if it helps to prevent it then that's great. The innoculations may start in Autumn 2008 and will not be compulsory. The Cervical Smear testing programme will continue as this jab won't protect against all strains of the HPV infection. There are HPV vaccines available now in the UK but haven't been approved for use by the Government. Some people apparently are worried this jab will increase promiscuity in young girls as it's given before they become sexually active. What do you think about this vaccination?
----------

I think it's a shame that people are so hung up on the fact it will help protect the girls from HPV related cervical cancer. I have been immunized against hepatitis as well, and haven't felt the urge to abuse drugs and share needles at all. It's just too bad that people got all hung up on the whole sex issue. Especially seeing as the girls get HPV from a fellow who likely hasn't a clue that he's carrying it, and they can be in a monogamous relationship- married even, when she gets it from him. I have two daughters, in and near the age group, and as soon as I can have them immunized I plan to have it done. I'm for any jab that can keep my babies safe. If they become sexually active, I should hope the worst they suffered was a regret. Regret and broken hearts can be mended. HPV is not so easily fixed.  (+ info)

Is it possible to survive cervical cancer without a hysterectomy? Also, are there any complementary treatments?

Is it possible to survive cervical cancer without a hysterectomy? Also, are there any complementary therapies?
If anyone has any experience with this I would love to hear it!
----------

Depends on how advanced it is. If it is at a stage called "in situ carcinoma" it is just the cervix (the part of your uterus close to your vagina) that is removed (cone biopsy). If it is at a more advanced stage, surgery might have to be more aggressive.

After, you might need radiation therapy or chemotherapy to ensure complete removal of the cancer cells.

Hope I could help.  (+ info)

It depends how far the cancer has spread, if the cancer has spread to other structures, then I'm afraid a hysterectomy (and possibly removal of ovaries and tubes) are needed in order to save your life. If the cancer is contained within the cervix, you might not need a hysterectomy, but often they do advise that you have one in case the ca returns.

And no there are no complementary therapies that will resolve the cancer. You might find something like ginger in a glass of water will help any nausea you get as a result of any chemo, etc, however conventional medicine offers you the best chance of remission.

It is radical surgery. Its' unpleasant, however sometimes that is the only option, wishing for a miracle won't alter this situation. Please listen to the advice of your Doctor. I wish you well for the future.

What is the recovery time for cervical polyp removal?

I had a cervical polyp removed in a doctor's office yesterday. Though I've had this done before, I am bleeding more than I should especially after using the bathroom and standing up. I'm not soaking a pad an hour but it is very worrisome to see more than usual bleeding. Is this normal? What is the recovery time? What should I do in the meantime? Also, I've tried to call this doctor's office back for help but they were not helpful.
----------

You should go to the Emergency room and get a 2nd opinion if you dont trust the doctor you have. Ask a different doctor about recovery options. I'm sorry that this is happeneing to you, I hope you get an answer and get better~  (+ info)

How often do women die from cervical cancer?

I am 11 years old, my mom got cervical cancer she found out yesturday. I am absoloutly heart broken and so is she. I was wondering how often do women die from it and is it possible for the sugery to go wrong or something?
----------

Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.

I am going through radiation for cervical cancer now. I have/had stage IIA. Cervical cancer is very curable because the cervix can be removed. Do you know what stage she is? It is also a very slow growing cancer.

The surgery is very common so it's unlikley she will have any problems. I had both a LEEP and then a radical hysterectomy and was absolutely fine. Your mom will have a team of doctors and nurses taking good care of her.

Take care  (+ info)

How long should you have eggwhite cervical mucus?

I am beginning to think I have a very short window for ovulation. I have it for part of a day and then not again. Can you have eggwhite cervical mucus for longer than a day?
----------

By observing your vaginal secretions, you'll know if you are ovulating. You should notice that there's a changing pattern from vaginal dryness to sticky discharge to slippery discharge. The slippery discharge may last 1-2 days. The accompaniment of swollen vulva will indicate that you are in the peak of your ovulation (i.e., an egg has been realease from one of your ovaries and is ready for fertilization). After the peak day, your vaginal discharge will become sticky or dry.  (+ info)

What types of cervical biopsy are there, do they both hurt?

I have to have a cervical biopsy for HSIL, maybe cervical cancer. I am a wimp. I am reading that there are 2 types of possible biopsies. How do I know which one I need, the doctor didn't specify. Do they both hurt pretty bad?
When you say it hurt, do you mean like REALLY hurt? Intolerable pain? or tolerable?
----------

I don't know what the 2 types are. During my cervical biopsy, the doctor scraped the cervix for skin cells, and then clipped a small piece of the cervix. The scraping didn't hurt, but the clipping did. I took Tylenol and laid around the rest of the day. The next day I felt fine.

EDIT: It's definitely tolerable.  (+ info)

How to tell the difference between cervical mucus and semen?

I had a positive opk test on Wednesday night, however, I have been very stressed and sleep deprived till last night. We had sex last night and this morning and after going for a bowel movement (sorry tmi) there was literally a string of yellowish white stuff hanging out of me. Was this leftover semen from last night or cervical mucus from delayed ovulation?

Thanks
----------

Semen will dilute in water, EWCM will not.  (+ info)
