is it possible to get syphilis off someone who doesnt have the disease?

and are chancre always painless?
or are they exactly like sores?
----------

You must come into contact with the syphilis-causing bacteria in order to get the infection. However, someone who has syphilis and hasn't been treated could still be contagious, even if they're not currently having any symptoms.

Syphilis chancres are typically described as painless, but there are always exceptions. A sore is also likely to be syphilis if there's only one and its borders are well-defined and "heaped-up" like there's a rim to it.  (+ info)

I realize only a test can tell conclusively and I will be calling my dr in the AM, but if anyone knows if the answers it would help.

Canker sore versus Chancre (Syphilis)... please help?

I got a sore in my mouth last Tuesday, on the inside of my lip.
it started out as a huge bump, if I remember correctly, cause I was complaining that I felt like my entire mouth was swollen up.
it has progressed into a small welt now though, kind of like an ulcer. MAYBE a little bit white in the center, but for the most part, pretty colorless.
it's really irritating me, and I've had it for four days now.

anyhow, I am kind of worried it's Syphilis. my last sexual contact was in June, with my now ex-boyfriend, who has had many partners that I didn't know about. it was just oral sex. I'm still a virgin.

anyhow, could someone tell me the difference between canker sores and chancre (stage one syphilis) sores?

please help. i'm so scared.
----------

If your last sexual encounter (oral sex) was in June, there's a high chance that what you are experiencing is just a typical canker sore. Syphilis sores occur between 2-20 days after being exposed to it and over 90% of the people infected show symptoms of stage 1 (chancre sore).

Have you eaten anything hot? Have you bitten your lip? Do you have a Vitamin B12 deficiency? All of these, plus many more, contribute to getting canker sores. Syphilis is a dying STD, especially in the Northern States (assuming you are in the US). The states that have the most Syphilis infections are Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, which is nooooo where near the amount of people with Chlamydia every where else. So, chances are slim that you had oral sex with someone who has Syphilis.

If you are so incredibly worried about it, then go get tested. It will put your mind at ease. I live in the South and don't know of a single person who has had Syphilis. I know more people living with HIV and AIDS, so there's an extremely good chance that you are safe. However, most states offer free (or low cost) STD testing and treatment to teenagers, so if you are so worried about it, you can call either Planned Parenthood or your county health department and set up an appointment. If you got unlucky in the 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance that you have Syphilis, it is easily curable with antibiotics. Canker sores usually take between 7-14 days to heal completely. Yes, they are annoying, but they are completely harmless! I hope I helped and please stop worrying! =)  (+ info)

is it normal for braces to cause chancres and what not?

like have you ever had a wire stick out of a bracket near your canines, and it basically makes a hole in your cheek?
and have they ever made some veins in your cheeks stick out more, like they're redder and stuff?
whats your experience with the pain of braces?
----------

Those things can definitely happen. If it's just a little wire, try bending it back into place with a tweezers. Sometimes that helps. Also, you should have received dental wax when you got your braces. Don't be afraid to use it when you need it. Finally, warm salt rinses are a godsend to braces wearers! Try one every night before bed, especially if you have an area that's bothering you.  (+ info)

STD, I have a chancre on my...?

I've only had sex with my wife, but I have just developed this painless open wound on my penis. Is this an STD and how did I get this?
----------

Sure sounds like one. It sounds like a syphilus sore. It's easy to treat, but I'm sorry to say that it's 99.9% likely that your wife gave it to you... You can think of the how. Sorry buddy.  (+ info)

I have a chancre sore on the inside of my lip & it doesn’t seem to be getting better..,?

I think I'm also getting one in the back top of my mouth (kind of where your wisdom teeth come in), I have been rather stressed lately but it is affecting the way I eat & do things. HELP!!!

I have had the one since last weekend & I woke up with the new one today...
I tried the old salt trick & it didn't work... So I'm currently using a mouth pain spray - I spray some on a Q-tip & stick it on the spot to numb it, but I look stupid like this - I'm at work :(
----------

gargle with salt water..........or use some mouthwash, something to kill the germs that are collecting on it , a couple of times a day. also use oral gel (like what you would use on a baby when they are teething) to numb it before you eat. the more stressed you are the more you will get and the longer they will stay  (+ info)

Chancre Sores......the non STD type!?

How do I treat them?
----------

My husband has battled these his whole life, so I doubt they were contracted sexually. ;)

We find that if we use an all natural toothpaste like "Tom's of Maine" or "Jason" which don't contain a bunch of chemicals and the soapy foam that can make the sores worse, he doesn't get them at all. We swish with peroxide after brushing and flossing and make sure to get regular cleanings.

Caffeine, tomatoes, citrus, sodas and lots of sugar make them pop up. Stay away from these, don't stress too much and supplement with the amino acid Lysine. It can work miracles. You HAVE to check out the quantum health link. Wow. They have a bunch of info for you! Good luck and God bless you!  (+ info)
