----------

chankroid:
After an incubation period of one day to two weeks, chancroid begins with a small bump that becomes an ulcer within a day of its appearance. The ulcer characteristically:

* Ranges in size dramatically from 3 to 50 mm (1/8 inch to two inches) across
* Is painful
* Has sharply defined, undermined borders
* Has irregular or ragged borders
* Has a base that is covered with a gray or yellowish-gray material
* Has a base that bleeds easily if traumatized or scraped

Herpes:
Herpes viruses cycle between periods of active disease—presenting as blisters containing infectious virus particles—that last 2–21 days, followed by a remission period, during which the sores disappear. Genital herpes, however, is often asymptomatic, though viral shedding may still occur. After initial infection, the viruses move to sensory nerves, where they reside as life-long, latent viruses. Causes of recurrence are uncertain, though some potential triggers have been identified. Over time episodes of active disease reduce in frequency.  (+ info)

Can my newborn be affected from my Chancroid?

I would say no unless they are touching your genitals.  (+ info)

How is chancroid spread?

You can get chancroid sores or spread them through skin-to-skin contact with open sores, from hands that have touched a sore, or from sex toys such as a vibrator or dildo that have touched a sore.

Chancroid lesions can look like syphilis or genital herpes, so a doctor needs to analyze the discharge from the sores to get an accurate diagnosis.  (+ info)

What are symptoms of a chancroid?

Painful ulcers on your genitals. They look like syphilis chancres, hence the name chancroid.

Luckily, chancroid is very, very rare. If it does come up, there are antibiotics to kill it.  (+ info)

is Chancroid a sign of HIV infection??
Please help me !!
Is it cureable !!?
How dangerous is Chancroid, compared to other STDs such as Gonorrhea ?
----------

Chancroid is a painful ulcer caused by a gram-negative bacteria, Haemophilus ducreyi. Caused by sexual contact, treated with a Cephalosporin Antibiotic, namely Ceftriaxone (Rocephin). It's not as common as gonorrhea but will probably leave a permanent scar. It is also not a sign of HIV, but if you are able to get an STD, you should probably be checked for HIV since both are STDs and your open sore does increase the risk of transmission.  (+ info)

whats going with me? Chancroid?

Yesterday, I have what I believe to be a Chancroid/solf chancre on my pen*s, it looks like a blaster, or a bag filled with water. It was right on right pen*s head. The color was a lil white-ish.
I checked online, freaked myself out because it could have been Chancroid, Syphilis or Herpes Complex Virus (HSV).
But this morning, its.. gone.. and I dunno how or why ?

If someone have experienced this before, please give me some advice.

P.S. I believe I might have caught STDs from an unprotected BJ and I'm very scared right now, please check my other question for detail
----------

Chancroid is VERY rare. It causes PAINFUL ulcers on your genitals.

Syphilis chancres are painless, and they last for weeks at a time before they progress to secondary syph.

Fluid-filled blisters are more indicative of HERPES infection. You can get them through unprotect oral sex. If you still have blisters, go to the doctor and show him/her so you can get a diagnosis. Blood tests are available for herpes, too. Ask about that.  (+ info)

Chancroid..is he cheating?

So my boyfriend has had symtoms of chancroid (random penile ulcer and elarged lymph nodes) for sometime now. I sent him to the doc at the first sign of this months ago and the doc did the basic STD testing (herpes, chalmydia, gonerreah, ect.) all those test came back negative and basically said to keep an eye on it because he was clueless about what it could be and figured it would go away-well it didnt. The penile ulcer would heal, and another would come. Then the groin lymph nodes enlarged more and cause us to have him seen again. Well, a new doc re-did the same standard STD testing in addition to other swaps he has to send out to a lab (results are days away). His UNOFFCIAL, BUT CONFIDENT DIAGNOSIS is chancroid. I have NEVER had an ulcer or anything funky on me and we dont generally use condoms as I fugure we are in a stable relationship and on birth control. What does this sound like? has he cheated? why have I not had any signs of anything? I like to think that my calm and open talk I had with him after this appt would have made him tell me something if he had cheated...any ideas? Im going crazy wondering.
