If you've suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, how long in your pregnancy did it last?

I'm just curious to see the average length of the answers. I suffered from it till i was 17 weeks.
----------

With my first child in 2003 it last the entire 9 months. I know I'm pregnant even before I miss my period, once implantation occurs and that hCG hits my system I'm sick day and night. Same this with this pregnancy. This time around at 8 weeks they decided to give me some meds to help control it. If I forget to take the meds I still get extremely sick. You're lucky that it went away at 17 weeks.  (+ info)

how to deal with hyperemesis gravidarum?

this is my first pregnancy and I have been to the ER 6 times and admitted to the hospital twice for dehydration due to hyperemesis gravidarum. I have been on Reglan, phenergan, and Zofran but it is still out of control. Is there anything else that I can try. I am 16 weeks along and so far my doctor says the baby is fine, so if I just need to suffer through it I will, but is there an end in sight or is this something I will deal with the whole time?
----------

Been there done that...i pretty much had to suffer through. Nothing worked other than the hospital IV's, Zofran and Pepcid AC. Hang in there, it gets better. FYI...mine ended at 18 weeks hopefully your's ends soon too.  (+ info)

Has anyone ever heard of hyperemesis gravidarum?

What is it? What are the causes, what are the symptoms, what can be done?
----------

it's severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.

Causes:

The cause of severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy has not been identified. Hyperemesis may have a genetic component, as sisters and daughters of women with hyperemesis have a higher incidence.

Hyperemesis is also associated with hyperemesis in prior pregnancy, female gestation, multiple gestation, triploidy, trisomy 21, current or prior molar pregnancy, and hydrops fetalis.

Women with history of motion sickness, migraine headaches, psychiatric illness, pregestational diabetes, high or low pregestational weight, hyperthyroidism, pyridoxine deficiency, and gastrointestinal disorders are also at an increased risk.

Some studies have suggested that Helicobacter pylori infection may play a role in hyperemesis, but the data are inconclusive.

there's a list of drugs here http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic479.htm
that they can give.... but i wouldn't take anything without talking to your doctor.  (+ info)

Does this mean I have huntingtons? Does huntingtons chorea mean the disease to?

My hands and legs r always shaking. My hands shake so bad now i can't even do normal things like write barely or put on jewelry. I'm in my early 20s. Does this sound like huntingtons disease or chorea? If it's huntingtons chorea does it mean i have huntingtons disease.?
----------

Chorea is a symptom; jerky, sporadic movements. Huntingtons is a genetic disease, if no one in your family has it then it's very unlikely. See a Dr for a blood test if you're still concerned. There are many reasons for tremors.

Huntingtons chorea is the old name for huntingtons disease.  (+ info)

what are the chances of having Hyperemesis Gravidarum for a 3rd time?

I had it with both my previous pregnancies, im now with a new partner and would love to have another baby, but not sure if i can go through all the sickness agian!!
----------

I can empathise. I projectile vomited 3-5 times everyday for 5 months straight with my daughter. It was awful trying to take care of patients when I kept running out to go vomit. My doctor gave me Zofran and it worked wonders for me. If you are going to brave having another I'd recommend asking your doctor about Zofran. It's a category B drug, so not a high risk for pregnancy, and I had a healthy baby.  (+ info)
