Please answer re Choroid Plexus Cyst: They found two small cysts on my baby's?

brain last week when I was 21 weeks pregnant. The doctor said that because my AFP test was great and my ultrasound did not show any abnormalities, all will be ok. Has anyone ever had a bad experience about this or was your baby fine?
----------

I had a friend who had this happen. They told her there were 2 also and 4 or 6 weeks after they were doing another ultrasound and they were completely gone. The doctor told her that was normal. She went on to have a perfectly healthy baby boy. Just try and have faith I'm sure your little one will be fine..  (+ info)

Has anyone been told that their baby has Choroid Plexus Cysts during routine ultrasound?

These are cysts found on the baby's brain. Doctor said there was nothing to worry about. But thats kinda hard to swallow.
----------

As ultrasound technology gets better and obstetricians and radiologists get more experienced with ultrasound, they are starting to describe intricate details of the fetus that are of uncertain significance.

Choroid plexus cysts are one such thing. If found in isolation, it is usually an innocent finding and I would not worry about it. If found in association with other anomalies (e.g., other brain anomalies, cardiac anomalies, renal anomalies, etc), it is more concerning and you should be referred by your obstetrician to a neonatologist/perinatologist for consultation.  (+ info)

Were you told that your baby had/has Choroid Plexus Cysts?

What was the outcome? My dr told me not to worry as 99.9% of the time they disappear, but I can't help but wonder......

So, now I have to have another u/s at 28 weeks to make sure everything is going good!

Thanks to all who answer....I just have this gut wrenching feeling...
I asked on Sat. but I know there are always different people on here during the week.

In most cases it is fine, and you have the right to worry that is the sign of a good mother. Wait and see at your next visit what the doctor says. Hang in there.  (+ info)

Choroid Plexus cysts in first ultrasound?

At my first ultrasound yesterday, the doctor said my baby boy has a choroid plexus cyst in his brain, but he has no other abnormalities, so she called it an "incidental finding". Has anyone else ever experienced this? Most research I have done says they either go away on their own, or cause no developmental problems, but I just thought it would be nice to hear other people's experiences to maybe help lessen my worry.
----------

In my experience with choroid plexus cysts, they usually resolve on their own. I think everytime we have found one without other abnormalities, it is gone on follow up scans. In fact, I can't think of a case when it was still there. And, I can't even try to guess about how many of these cysts I have seen in the past 15 years! The radiologists I work with never get excited about these cysts when they are the only finding. Best to you.....  (+ info)

Look into hydrocephalus. Bigger question is if you will love the child no matter what.  (+ info)

At my 20 week u/s the tech found a 2 mm choroid plexus cyst on my baby's brain- anyone familiar with this?

I was negative for Trisomy 18 & 21 and Down's syndrome and I'm 35. Has anyone had any experience with this? If so what was your outcome?
----------

I am very familiar with this!! I too, found this out at about 20 weeks along with my son. Actually, I was 16 weeks. I was terrified...I tested negative for all the other defects, and by the end of my pregnancy, the cyst had absorbed itself. My son today is a healthy 15 month old boy...no problems whatsoever. Its very scary to hear something is on your baby's brain...but it is actually very common with fetal development. Good luck!!  (+ info)

Choroid Plexus Cysts found on baby's head during ultrasound?

The doctor said it could be nothing or it could be something as bad as trisomy 18 or Down's syndrome...He didn't see any other indicators of something being wrong with my baby, but I am still very worried...Anyone has experienced something similar? What was the baby's outcome? I'm 19 weeks pregnant and my baby has two of these cysts. I will go back in July 15 to see if they are gone or not....(very nervous)
----------

I know how you feel! When I had my u/s at 19 weeks they thought they seen a cyst on my little guy's brain. He didn't have anything wrong with him or any other indicators. They sent me to have another u/s done around 23 or 24 weeks. The u/s tech couldn't find the cyst, and it had disappeared on its own.

I wish you the best of luck with everything. I had actually done research when I was going through it. I was told they are very common to find and they usually disappear on their own. I'm now having my little guy on June 23rd, via csection(b/c he's breech), and he's completely healthy! Try not to worry about it too much!  (+ info)

Any moms out there who had a child that had CHOROID PLEXUS CYST?

If so what eventually happened.???
serious answers only please..
----------

Yes, it was discovered at the 20 week ultrasound. Don't worry, it's completely normal. When the baby's brain is forming/developing, these cysts may occur. The OB told me that in most cases it goes away by itself during pregnancy or at the most within a few weeks after the baby is born. It is important to follow up though and keep track. I had a follow up ultrasound at 32 weeks and it was gone!  (+ info)
