Is there anyway to remove a hypertrophic scar and a keloid?

I had Surgery on July 10, 2007 and it left a uplifted scar that the doctor called hypertrophic and another part of the scar is keliod. It irritates me and tends to burn. I would like to know if anybody has a scar like this and has tried removing it. My scar is also, uplifted and red. Please help.

Is it possible to surgically remove a small hypertrophic scar?

I had a mole removed and it did not heal well - it formed a red ugly hypertrophic scar (about 1 cm across). My doctor recommended topical anti-scar ointements, but they did not help. Neither did Neosporin Scar Solution patches. Would surgery remove it? Would it heal by scaring again?

More surgery is going to cause more scar tissue. There are ways to get scar tissue released that doesn't require surgery--you would have to talk to a holistic chiropractor who uses Dr. Brimhall's chriopractic practices.  (+ info)

Best way to non-surgically remove a hypertrophic (raised) scar?

I have a small (about 1cm diameter) hypertrophic scar that's really bothering me. What's the best way I can try to get it to flatten out or even remove it, non-surgically? I've heard of using things like Mederma skin cream, silicone gel patches, and a couple other treatments. Are there any of these that really work, and where can I get them? Thanks!
Also, I've tried using Bio-Oil and it didn't work, so please don't recommend anything that would use the same method to remove the scar.

MEDERMA!
i have used it for my scars on my FACE from my car wreck a year ago and they were so raised, red and so ugly
but when i started using mederma, you could see results in one week
this stuff is amazing seriously, but its not cheap its like 30 bucks and i suggest you get the cream cause the gel peels, and itches
now my scars are not even noticeable
i ask ppl and they said they never noticed :)  (+ info)

will drinking alcohol aggravate my hypertrophic scars?

I have hypertrophic scars, each about 2 inches long that are purple/pink in some areas, and faded in others. They are about 9 months old. Does the drinking of alcohol aggravate them, slow healing process, or affect them at all?

I have hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, Anyway i can prolong my life ?

I have been Diagnosed with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy , Should i stop sports ? and change my diet ?

What is the best ways to prolong my life as i don't want to die young.
----------

It entirely depends on your just how hypertrophied your heart muscle is. If the problem is mild then it may not impede on your life at all. If your problem is moderate to severe then some people are told to avoid strenuous exercise as much as possible.

With regards to diet, there are no specific foods you need to avoid bit it is important that you do not become too overweight as this will put a strain on your heart. Avoid alcohol too.

The main risk is arrhythmia's which are the most common cause of sudden death in young adults. Are you taking any medication? If you re-edit this question with more detail I can be of more help.  (+ info)

Are heart transplants typically performed on a person with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy?

Have there even been any heart transplants performed on patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy?
----------

Occasionally yes, however, there are some surgical techniques (alcohol ablation or surgical myomectomy) which can treat the condition as well, so transplants are reserved for people who fail/cannot tolerate these procedures.  (+ info)

how can i get rid of hypertrophic scar?

is there a way to get rid of a hypertrophic scar?
----------

Hypertrophic scars

Hypertrophic scars are often confused with keloid scars, since both tend to be thick, red, and raised. Hypertrophic scars, however, remain within the boundaries of the original incision or wound. They often improve on their own-though it may take a year or more-or with the help of steroid applications or injections.

If a conservative approach doesn't appear to be effective, hypertrophic scars can often be improved surgically. The plastic surgeon will remove excess scar tissue, and may reposition the incision so that it heals in a less visible pattern. This surgery may be done under local or general anesthesia, depending on the scar's location and what you and your surgeon decide. You may receive steroid injections during surgery and at intervals for up to two years afterward to prevent the thick scar from reforming.

Contractures

Burns or other injuries resulting in the loss of a large area of skin may form a scar that pulls the edges of the skin together, a process called contraction. The resulting contracture may affect the adjacent muscles and tendons, restricting normal movement.

Correcting a contracture usually involves cutting out the scar and replacing it with a skin graft or a flap. In some cases a procedure known as Z-plasty may be used. And new techniques, such as tissue expansion, are playing an increasingly important role. If the contracture has existed for some time, you may need physical therapy after surgery to restore full function.  (+ info)

Hypertrophic scarring on my cartilage piercing, how do I get rid of it as quickly as possible?

I got 2 cartilage piercings on my right ear 5 weeks ago. I have noticed some strange bumps forming around my bottom one. I did some research and identified it as a hypertropic scar. I'm a bit worried and want to change my earrings as soon as possible. Are there any extra step I can take bedsides hot salt water compressed to help it heal as quickly as possible?
Thank you!
----------

If it's been 5 weeks, you should be okay to change the jewelry. Just be careful and sanitary.
If you were doing some research, you already know that hypertrophic scarring/keloids sometimes go away, sometimes don't. There's no real science to treating them, it's trial and error. If they are extremely bothersome, go back to your piercer and see what s/he thinks, or visit your doc.
Otherwise, I recommend trying different jewelry to see if it gets better or worse and go from there. Since your piercings are so new, it would be best to minimize your efforts until the risk of infection is gone or you might wind up with bigger problems than bumps around your piercings.  (+ info)

your best bet is to use the chamomile tea compresses, do the salt soaks and massage it once dailywith a 1 to 3 drop solution of tea tree oil and a carrier oil  (+ info)
