That sounds like the DT's to me mate, calm down and pour yourself a drink, sorry on a serious note, you need to take a few weeks off the booze, get some milk thistle from your local herbalist, that will help to repair some of your liver damage, having a drink can be fun, but only if you are in control of the drink, not the other way round, good luck mate, go steady on the booze.  (+ info)

I think you mean Delirium Tremens. This is the result of a sudden decrease in your alcohol intake following a period of heavy drinking. It can start with a feeling of agitation or anxiety, through to real paranoia and subsequently can involve hallucinations. These are usually frightening and can frequently take the form of small hairy animals or spiders. In the worst cases, people suffering with 'DT' can even have seizures and heart rhythm abnormalities. The best thing to do is not to drinnk heavily in the first place, though of course you are unlikely to suffer with this following a sinlge night out - it more usually applies to people who have been drinking every day for some time, and at a very heavy level. If you feel you are suffering with DT, though, you should consult your doctor. They can give advice and if necessary prescribe sedatives. Don't confuse a bad hangover for the DT's - if you have been on a single heavy night out you should expect to feel sick and anxious the next day.  (+ info)

Can period pains cause delirium?

I get very sick around the time of my period. I go white as a sheet and I break out in cold sweats, and usually I see things that aren't really there.

I've also just got rid of a UTI which I've read can cause it.

Period pains can cause my gf to turn into a meat-eating psychopath, so I'm sure deliriousness is more than likely..

what is the difference between seizure, convulsion & Delirium Tremens & which is the most dangerous/fatal?

Seizure:
a sudden attack (as of disease); especially : the physical manifestations (as convulsions, sensory disturbances, or loss of consciousness) resulting from abnormal electrical discharges in the brain (as in epilepsy) b: an abnormal electrical discharge in the brain

Convulsion:
an abnormal violent and involuntary contraction or series of contractions of the muscles

Delirium:
an acute mental disturbance characterized by confused thinking and disrupted attention usually accompanied by disordered speech and hallucinations

Tremens:
a violent delirium with tremors that is induced by excessive and prolonged use of alcoholic liquors

So, a seizures can cause convulsions and/or delirium like actions. Tremens is what happens when you have too much to drink.

As for which is most dangerous . . . it really depends on the situation. Any one of these could be fatal if you're doing something like driving. Seizures though are often caused by epilepsy, which can't be cured.

Delirium Tremens beer clone homebrew recipe?

Does anyone have a good Delirium Tremens clone recipe?

I found two:
One calls for pilsen DME, and wheat DME, seeds of paradise, ginger, and coriander.

The second calls for Golden Light DME, and seeds of paradise.

What would you add to a DT clone???
It's been a while since I've had DT but I don't recall detecting much of the spicing they mentioned, at least not more than I would attribute a healthy dose of yeast. Wheat also seems out of place, I can see the flavor I just never really knew/expected that it was part of the grain bill so perhaps you can add some.

I'd go for something like this (off the top of my head)...

~8lbs of Pilsener DME
~2lbs of Belgian Candy Sugar, light in color
~1lbs of Cara 20 GRAIN

Steep the Cara 20 for 15 minutes then boil the remaining ingredients per the usual.

1oz Saaz at 45minutes
1/2oz Saaz at 20 minutes
1/2oz Saaz at Knockout

Wyeast 3522 or 1388.  (+ info)
