What can i do about perioral dermatitis?! PLEASE HELP?

I've had it for about 4-5 days now. I've been given a topical steriod, but only used it once because i've read online I'm not supposed to use it even though the doctor gave it to me. I have very scaly, dry, a little pussy skin on my chin and left cheek. very dry skin around my eyes that its caused me to have winkles and im 17! and only on my right arm where the arm crease is, I have very very red dermatitis.
what can i do as of home remedies to help this dermatitis?
or do i need to just go to the doc and get antibiotics?

The following is from the patient website:

Without treatment, the condition may last months or years. Treatment can usually help.

Firstly, your doctor is likely to advise that you stop using any cream, ointment, cosmetics, etc, on your face, In particular, to stop using any topical steroid. If you have been using a topical steroid, the rash will get worse for several days before it gets any better. You may have to anticipate and accept this. Just wash your face with water only whilst the rash is present. Some doctors advise not to use toothpaste that contains fluoride.

Even when the rash has gone, it is best to not use any cosmetics or creams on the affected area as the rash may re-appear. And use only a bland liquid face cleaner to wash your face rather than bar soap.

Antibiotics
Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic tablet in the tetracycline group. Topical antibiotics are sometimes used in milder cases. The course of treatment is usually 6-12 weeks and you may not notice any improvement for the first few weeks whilst taking treatment. However, there is an improvement in most cases within two months after starting antibiotic treatment. So, do persevere if an antibiotic is prescribed. The way antibiotics work in this condition is not clear. It is not a simple skin infection. However, tetracyclines and some other antibiotics have an action to reduce inflammation in addition to killing bacteria, and this may be why they work.

Do I have perioral dermatitis?

I looked up symtoms for it which seems similar but it doesn't really itch, I think it's a mental thing right now that it is itchy because they said it would be but around my mouth is super dry skin. I looked up pics but they seem much worse than mine. I didn't get a sun burn around my mouth so that can't be a problem but this morning it showed but in another area on the other side of my mouth. Any suggestions?????

Perioral Dermatitis (PD)?

My doctor recently diagnosed me with PD. She said the best thing to do is use an anti-dandruff shampoo. I know many sites have sad to stay clear of make-up (easier said that done with a woman in her early 20's). My question was, does anyone know any good quality face make-up that is gentle enough that it could be used by someone with PD?

HELP! Eczema lead to Perioral dermatitis, what would you do if you were me?

Ok, I know this is going to be the longest question on here but it will only take 15 minutes of your time as I really need advise on this issue. I've just finished typing out my drug medical history and I'm hoping I will get kind souls to help me out with my skin problem.

Old ways
Last time I only washed my face with water, no moisturizer, no toner, and no facial wash. It was just water from the tap. I only started out washing my face with commercial product at the age of 14, Clean and Clear. I didn't have breakouts; I just used it because I heard that you have to take care of your skin especially during puberty. After some time I began to feel my skin was tight after every wash and eventually figured that I have sensitive skin.

The problem started out from 2004.

2004 September (aged 16)
I got chicken pox during June and it lasted for one and a half month. After that, I developed a rash on my left thigh, and an on and off watery blister thing on my face. I went to a polyclinic (government one) and got referred to National Skin Center (NSC is an outpatient specialist dermatological centre with a team of dermatologists who have the experience and expertise to treat every skin condition, the center also belong to government.) because is cheaper. I'll be able to get subsidies for the consultation fee (not including medication), which means gov will pay half for the consultation. But every visit I go will be consult by different dermatologist because mine is subsidies. The dermatologist prescribed me Betamethansone Valerate 0.05% and moisturizer for the rash on my tight, he didn't prescribe anything for my face because he said it's normal to have this after chicken pox. He suggested I should use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser for my face because I have sensitive skin. The rash on my left thigh went off after one week of applying only that Betamethansone Valerate 0.05% cream; I did not apply moisturizer because my guts feeling told me not to. After some time, the watery blister on my face also went off. The rash never comes back. By the way during that time I did not know and was not informed that that cream was a steroid cream.

2004 Nov
I began to have this a bit red and peeling problem going on at both corners beside my lips, so I went back to NSC to treat the problem and was given a cream called Decocort by different dermatologist, and was told to use a kid’s toothpaste. The cream is an antifungal cream with steroid in it. Again, nobody told me it had steroid in it, and I wasn't informed I had eczema. So I stupidly used it 2 times daily for 6 months and it got cleared off so I stopped the cream.

2005 June (age 17)
I went back to NSC to treat my pimples, it wasn't a lot, just a very mild pimples, and was given Stevia-A by another dermatologist. I used it daily for 4 months and it worked wonders.

------I stopped all creams for one year plus-----

2006 December (age 18)
I attended my sister's wedding, I wore a full makeup, and the brand was Clinique's. It was the first time I wore makeup and also the final time. After washing off the makeup, I noticed the corner of my lips became dry. The next day, it started to peel again. I realised the 2004 Nov problem has returned. I tried to use back Decocort for a month but it doesn't seem to be effective anymore. I went back to NSC and told the dermatologist (yes a different one) about this problem and he sent me for a skin patch test. It turned out that I was allergic to a fragrance called "Lyral". Lyral is a fragrance that is present in many cosmetic products. I was prescribed Betamethasone 0.0125% and white soft paraffin for the problem. I was told to apply white soft paraffin after 15 minutes of applying Betamethasone 0.0125% but that white soft paraffin was very greasy and made the condition appeared more obvious, so I took that out and only applied Betamethasone 0.0125%. I wasn't told when to stop so I used it for 4 months daily, and on and off for another 3 months, I finally stopped using the cream because I realised it's giving me pimples. So the total duration of using that cream was 7 months of prolong and on and off use.

2007 August (age 19)
I spent a month time treating my pimple by using back Stevia-A, the result was very slow.

2007 September
I went back to NSC to treat my pimple again, I told the new dermatologist I was on Stevia-A 2 years ago which worked wonder but now it doesn't seem so, and he told me not to use it and prescribed me Panoxyl Benzoyl Peroxide acne gel. But first I decided to let my face rest for 2 months.
2007 October
I began to have a bit of red little itched bump, it didn't come in like a huge rash but it was like one bump on my ankle, the other at somewhere on lower limb. It was very itchy, so I went back to NSC and gotten a new tube of Betamethansone Valerate 0.05%, which I used to treat my left thigh back in 2004. But it doesn't work anymore and I went back to NSC again and another dermatologist gave me the same cream but a stronger dose, Betamethansone Valerate 0.1%, and it worked. But the problems came back regularly, like 1 to 3 little red bumps every month.
2007 Novevember
I finally applied the Panoxyl Benzoyl Peroxide for 2 days, the pimples did go off but it burned and it stung my face like mad. This was a last minute issue so I didn't manage to book an appointment with NSC. I went to see my nearby GP and he prescribed me 5 days of oral steroid, 5 days of oral antihistamine, and Hydrocortisone 1% (the type that you have to store it in a fridge). I applied the Hydrocortisone 1% on my entire face and stayed at home for 2 weeks, it was during school holiday. The problem went off but due to the weather and the sun exposure, I received redness on my cheeks occasionally. I carried an umbrella whenever I go and tried to stay indoor as much as possible.
2007 December to March
I must admit I spent like the following months obsessing with dealing my face, I went to see another GP, and also another dermatologist (private dermatologist, not from nsc, super expensive) for the redness but ended up getting almost the same cream like what my nearby GP gave. So I decided to go back to the nearby GP again and told him my cheeks were painful and he told me to stop all creams, he also told me not to use the creams from NSC anymore, and only eat his antihistamine. He refused to give me oral steroid again because he said I might get possible side effects like weight gaining, fatness to my face, joint/bone problem. So he gave me 10 days of antihistamine tablets. The condition finally got under control, but antihistamine gave me chapped lips, also, the red and peeling at the corners of my lips has not solved yet. Also, I noticed the side of my nose was very dry, peeling, scaly, and red.
2008 April (age 20)
I went back to NSC and I demanded to see a specialist dermatologist, because the previous ones were all different dermatologist during each visit. I wanted one that could concentrate and keep up with my condition. So I was transferred to see a specialist dermatologist, Dr.Mark. I am no longer under the subsidies scheme, because I requested for a specialist, which means I have to pay for the whole consultation. Anyway, I told Dr.Mark about these entire problem that has been bugging me for years, and he used a torch light look-alike kind of thing (I don't know what was that but it was huge and the light was very bright) and finally said I have eczema. He told me it's mild eczema. -_- And he said this,
"First of all I'll have to tell you there is NO CURE FOR ECZEMA. I know this may upset you but I will need to let you know the truth because there really isn't any cure. You can manage your eczema, keeping it under control by using topical steroid cream and moisturizer. But don't worry; your condition is mild eczema, I suspect is Atopic Eczema. Also, you can only treat one problem at a time; you can't treat pimples and eczema at the same time because these two do not go along together."

I was thinking in my heart, "What the, so all along I have eczema and none of the dermatologists in your center has mentioned anything about it?!"

I also told him that steroid cream gives me pimples but he was not convinced. He said that the ones I've been receiving for my face are low dose, it shouldn't give me pimples. He told me it's puberty and I was like, "But I'm already 20, what puberty?!"
In the end he told me to continue and use the Betamethasone 0.0125% for the corners of my lips problem, QV lip balm (something like Vaseline that has petroleum) and also gave me Desonide Desowen Lotion 0.5% to apply once at night around my nose. I only tried the Desonide Desowen Lotion 0.5% once and I really didn't feel good about it so I stick with Betamethasone 0.0125%. I also did not feel good with that QV lip balm because it was greasy.
2008 May
I went to Indonesia and during the trip, I gotten a heat rash kind of thing all over my chest, and a bit of those little red itchy bump appearing on my legs. By then since I was told it's eczema so I just applied that Betamethansone Valerate 0.1% for 3 days, it got cleared off. When I returned from the trip, the heat rash came back to my chest again and by then I was frustrated with steroid creams already. I had a feeling there must be something wrong with steroid cream. So I immediately went to see Dr.Mark, which I had to pay extra charge because it was a last minute appointment -_- I requested for an alternative treatment because I've figured all these steroids have cause my skin sensitive to the sun, giving me pimples, and flushing cheeks etc. He then prescribed me a non-steroid cream called "Elidel". I put it on my chest, the side of my nose, and the corners of my lips and within that 3 days of using Elidel I developed cough.
By the way, I had a long term cough that lasted 1 and 1/2 year from end of 2006 to 2008. I have no asthma and did many tests in the hospital; during that time I was under by a throat and lung specialist but couldn't solve the root of the problem. He just kept putting me on cough syrup, tablets, nose spray, asthma spray nothing seemed to work. I also did an asthma test, throat test, nose test, x-ray, whatever that has connection with cough and it all turned out negative. Then in the end guess what the specialist found out? He said I must be stress with school work. He told me there is nothing wrong with my throat or my lungs; he said my cough is connected to stress. HE WAS WRONG. I was fed up with him and all these western medications so I decided to see a Chinese physician, the physician checked the pulse by placing three fingers on my left wrist, and told me to tip my head up and open my mouth widely so that he could look at the problem in my throat.
The Chinese physician told me the vein in my throat is very red, means it has been burned by something. At first I thought it sounded like a joke but I decided to try it anyway since I've already spent so much money in the hospital. After 3 visits with the physician, within one month of drinking herbs, my cough was cured. I did not cough for 8 months. It only returned when I started using Elidel cream.
Ok back to Elidel, so I stopped the cream and went to see the physician and my cough got cured within 5 days. Later, I went back to use Betamethansone Valerate 0.1% for 2 days. I only applied that Betamethansone Valerate 0.1% on my chest for 2 days and it went off. I know I’ve mentioned I don't feel good whenever I apply steroid but it was really out of no choice.
2008 July
The redness on my cheeks returned and I did not dare to apply the Betamethansone Valerate 0.1% on my face because it was a higher strength than Hydrocortisone 1% in terms of steroid. I went back to the nearby GP's clinic; I didn't see him directly but bought his Hydrocortisone 1% cream and antihistamine tablet again over his counter. I decided to use it for only 3 days but still, it gives me pimples and chapped lips again.
2008 August
The problem beside of my lips got worse and my chin also looked pink. I went back nsc, Dr.Mark, and told him about the Elidel problem and again, he was not convinced that Elidel would cause internal reaction to my body and he prescribed me Fluocinolone 0.003125%, ProTopic and Cetaphil Moisturizer Cream. He told me to use the Fluocinolone 0.003125% for awhile, when my condition gets better switch it to ProTopic. I used Fluocinolone 0.003125% for 3 days and my chin turned from pink to red. So I switched to Protopic and it totally stung my chin badly, very painful. The Cetaphil Moisturizer Cream wasn't helpful because it was very greasy and I found that it has mineral oil in it. I stopped all the creams for 2 weeks and during that 2 weeks I decided to do a research about mineral oil, paraffin, and petrolatum because all these have the greasy feel going on which I find it disgusting.
I found out that all of these ingredients actually form an oily film that sits on top of the skin, preventing moisture from evaporating. It has a drying effect, it actually suck out the moisture of your lips/skin, which is why you have to constantly reapplying it. During that 2 weeks I decided to stop using that lip balm. I drank at least 10 glasses of water a day and continued this routine for 10 days, and the chapped lips went off miraculously. O.O
2008 September
One morning I woke up and realised I suddenly have little scab, white little bumps on my chest and forehead, and a bit on the side of my face, those were not itchy. But there was a triangle shape form of orange scab appeared on the skin that's above my mouth area, it was VERY ITCHY. I quickly opened my fridge and took out the Hydrocortisone 1% cream and applied it on the triangle shape scab for 3 days, and it disappeared. But it came back again after a week so I applied the Hydrocortisone 1% cream again for 3 days and it went off. But it came back AGAIN and AGAIN so I rushed to NSC to see Dr.Mark. At that moment he wasn't in the clinic so I was send to see another dermatologist who told me to use back Elidel despite the cough. His name is Dr.Melvin, he was like Dr.Mark, he does not believe Elidel cream would cause internal reaction to my body. He told me to continue with Elidel. -_- I was like, ok, fine, I’ll give it a try again for 2 weeks and see how it goes.
During that 2 weeks Elidel did stop those itch on my face and reduce the little bumps on my chest BUT LO AND BEHOLD, the cough returned and it came together with flu and dry throat. I went to the website of Elidel and sent and email to them about my situation. Whoever that was in charge replied my email and told me this,
"Thank you for your interest in Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. We received your email and we appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

You asked us a question about the side effects of Elidel. The most common side effect at the skin application site is burning or a feeling of warmth. These side effects are usually mild or moderate, happen during the first 5 days of treatment, and usually clear up in a few days. Call your doctor if the burning feeling is severe or lasts for more than 1 week.

Other side effects include headache, common cold or stuffy nose, sore throat, influenza, fever, viral infection, and cough. Some people may get viral skin infections (like cold sores, chicken pox, shingles, or warts) or swollen lymph nodes (glands). Talk to your doctor if you have a skin infection or if side effects (for example, swollen glands) continue or bother you. These are not all the side effects with Elidel Cream. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information."
I finally stop that cream and went to see my Chinese physician. I told him about this problem and he told me to stop using steroid cream. He told me that he will treat my cough first, after recovering from cough he wants me to come back and he will treat my eczema. He said there is a cure for eczema; it's something to do with our immune system and liver. He told me to stop using those creams. After the visit, I've recovered from cough after drinking the herbs for 3 days but have not return and visit him.
2008 November 18 (last week)
After 10 days of not using any cream, I actually feel good emotionally. BUT the next day after the 10th day, a mild eruption form of little pimple/scab kind of thing appeared on my face, it's a bit itchy. Also, there's a rash at the back of my left knee. I was super paranoid, super frustrated already. I took a half day leave from my part time job, printed out the email that Elidel replied and went to the NSC Dr.Mark and show it to his face, in a polite way of course. Then he told me the only option left for me is to go back to topical steroid. I also told him about the moisturizer that has mineral/oil/petroleum problem and he ended up prescribing me Desonide Desowen Cream 0.5% (previously was lotion), and a moisturizer called Physiogel Al Cream and told me to try it for 4 days and see how it goes. These are the ingredients of the moisturizer.
Aqua, Olea, Europaea, Glycerin, Pentylene, Glycol, Palm Glycerides, Olus, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Squalane, Betaine, Palmitamide MEA, Acetamide MEA, Sarcosine, Hydroxyethyl-cellulose, Sodium Carbomer, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum

But still, I don't feel good about moisturizer. Yes I know moisturizer claim to protect skin from drying but you see it's still made out of chemical, and I can't even pronounce most of those chemical names and only God knows if it's good or bad chemical.
I requested to do have a food allergy test, he agreed. I also asked him what exactly is ths type of eczema I’m having on my face and he decided to send me to another test, which was a IgE test (to determine what type of eczema I have). So total I took 2 tests. The pissed part was that he has NEVER mentioned anything about taking oral antibiotic or oral erythromycin as an alternative treatment to clear the itch and stuff. How I knew about this was because after I came back from the visit I decided to do an extreme research about steroid cream and it lead me to this site,

http://pediatrics.about.com/od/weeklyquestion/a/05_perioral_drm.htm

You don't have to click it, I'll copy the important part here and it says,
"In many situations, a child has a simple rash caused by irritation and is treated with a steroid cream. While that helps the rash get better for a little while, it then gets worse again and eventually doesn't respond to the steroid cream anymore. If you are using a steroid cream and think that she may have perioral dermatitis, then you should stop using it. Be warned that the rash will get worse once you stop using the steroids and will then gradually get better. Sometimes, a topical or oral antibiotic is also needed to help perioral dermatitis go away."
After reading it, I suspect I have perioral dermatitis, like I mentioned I've been depending steroid cream etc and it has now worsen the problem when the moment I stopped and causing me having those itchy scab/bump lookalike thing on my face. So I continued the research and found out that those who people who got perioral dermatitis eventually stopped all cream and got treated by taking oral antibiotic or oral erythromycin (another type of antibiotic) alone from 4 to 12 weeks, and their inflammation got cleared off completely, I found it here, with images

2008 November 22 (Last Saturday)
I've used the Desowen cream for 4 days together with that moisturizer since the last visit. Those mild eruption forms of little pimple/scab kind of thing are not that obvious anymore. I must admit it's the "help" of the Desowen but I have a feeling it will still come back for more. I really feel like stopping the cream because I don't want to see my face from mild eczema turn into moderate eczema or severe. My blood test results will only be out next Thursday. I've read some the side effects of taking oral erythromycin may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting. Do you think it is worth to take the risk? Seriously I'd rather suffer the side effects from oral erythromycin than seeing my face keep getting itch and those rashes. And I printed out the 2 links of information and images of Perioral Dermatitis.
I brought it to the nearby GP to have a look at it. I asked if he could give me the oral erythromycin intake for a month but he said he can only let me to try it for one week. He said that too much of oral erythromycin will cause liver problem. And he went on and said,

"See, I've told you before to stop all creams and just leave the rash alone. I myself also have a bit of rash on my face and I ignored it and it went off itself."

I finally broke down to tears and went silent. I think because of that the GP didn't charge me for the consultation fee. :-/

He told me not to use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, because it still has chemical in it. He told me to wash my face with water and just leave it alone, no more steroids, no cream, means no moisturizer as well. He also told me to come back when I've gotten the blood test results and he would see if he could give me more oral erythromycin.
2008 November 28
The GP visit was on a Saturday but I decided to start the intake on Monday (November 24). I’ve being eating the antibiotic for 5 days now, and have been following his instruction by cleaning my face with only water and leave it alone. And yes, the thing has returned and it’s still itchy, peeling, red, flaky, and experiencing the burning feeling. I know from the perioral dermatitis research it says that the rash will get worse once you stop using the steroids during the first 2 weeks but will then gradually get better. I’ve read many research and found out that the most reliably effective treatment is oral antibiotics, taken in 6 to 12 weeks. If left untreated, perioral dermatitis can persist for months. :(
By the way, I’ve gotten back the IgE blood test and Food Allergy Test. My IgE stated 73 IU/ML. I called up to NSC and asked what does it mean and the person told me any number that’s under than 87 is normal.

The food in the test are Hazelnut, Lobster, Sacharomyes Cerevisiale, Shellfish Mix, Squid, Chicken, Codfish, Corn, Crab, Egg White, Milk, Peanut, Potato, Rice, Shrimp, Soyabean, and Wheat.

The food allergy test on the print-out all stated class 0, which means I’m not allergic to any of those.
I’m not really a verbal person so I’ve printed out these 15 pages out and have both GP and NSC Doctor.Mark to have a read about it. I have an appointment with Dr.Mark on the 2nd December Tuesday, but I’ve already passed this file to him 3 days ago during my lunch break from work; because I don’t think he would read it on the spot. But I don’t know if I should go back to him as I’m afraid he would give me more creams, the consultation is very expensive too, and he always says, “Don’t worry, yours is mild eczema.” -_-
I mean, how can I not worry? It’s like my face has been depending on steroid for prolong and on and off period and when the moment I stop, the problem comes back greater. No wonder they say eczema rash will always come back because the fact is that we are told to use those cream and when we stop, of course the problem will come back because we are too depend on it, doesn’t that make sense? My colleague also told me to stop the steroid cream because she said not just oral steroid would cause fatness to the face but the cream as well, she has a friend who was on steroid cream and her face has turned fat and swelling. I intend to throw away that big bag of steroid creams in my house and I believe whoever that suffers eczema will understand this. :(
2008 November 29 (Saturday, yesterday)
I’ve submitted this file to the nearby GP. This is what I wrote,

Hi Doctor,

This is *********, who came to your clinic last Saturday regarding my skin problem. The following 13 pages are a history of medication I took; and also more research and images on perioral dermatitis. I’ve posted this on an answer and question website but I thought I should show it to you as well. I’ll be coming back to your clinic on Monday; I can’t expect you to read it on the spot so I thought of passing this file to you today instead. I know your time is precious but out of exasperation I hope that you will be able to read it through and help me out with this problem. The antibiotic you have given me is finishing soon and I really don’t know if I should go back to the Dermatologist from National Skin Center on this coming Tuesday.

If you have any question regarding this, please contact me at ********

With Thanks & Best Regards,
******
Also, I measured my weight and found out I’ve lost almost 5 kg. During that saga of creams from 2005 to the end of 2007 my weight increased from 45 to 55kg. I suspect this is due to steroid cream, cough medications, those processed meats and also lack of exercise in fear of sweating might aggravate my condition. But when I started out my college, I began to lose weight and it was also due to stress, I lost from 55kg to 48kg. Then later, the “obsession” with steroid (it’s not like I had a choice) increased my weight to 51kg. But now only after like one week of “detox” diet, from last Saturday to this Saturday, I am weight 46kg. Also, I usually digest only twice a week, but ever since I started out the diet and antibiotic intake I’ve been digesting almost TWICE A DAY. Is it because I ate 3 serves of vegetables and brown rice only? Or is it the help of antibiotic?
And since I’ve gotten back the food allergy result, do you think I should go back and have a balance diet by combining with fish? I don’t intend to eat meat like chicken, pork and beef but I’m thinking about fish because it’s more beneficial. Or should I continue eating 3 serves of vegetables and brown rice only?

I’ve quit my job because of this problem, because the air-conditioning area is disturbing. It’s a part-time job by the way; I’m actually on a long term school holiday. I intend to stay at home for the next 2 months to treat my face problem. I know I sound vain but I really don’t dare to face anyone.

What would you do if you were me? Go back to the GP on Monday to see if he could give me more antibiotic? Or go back to the Dermatologist appointment on Tuesday? Or stop both and go to the Chinese Physician?

And does exercise helps? I used to do a lot of sports but gave up because of this problem, I was afraid that sweat might aggravate my problem. Eczema is ruining my life!
2008 November 30 (TODAY)
I called up my sister and broke down over the phone. Because my right cheek is really painful, and red. My left cheek is flaky, dry and a bit itchy. I really don't know what to do anymore. My sister advised me that if I go back to NSC on Tuesday the dermatologist would continue give me the same old crap advise that I already know. She told me that the nearby GP sounds more professional because he's more a cautious person. She told me that if the GP doesn't want to give me any more oral antibiotic intake then stick back to taking oral antihistamine. She said this,

Would you rather have chapped lips or seeing your cheeks red and flaky? You can only choose one now.

Do you think I should go back and take oral antihistamine? Also, can anyone please tell me if oral antihistamine can reduce the redness, flakiness, and painfulness on my face? I've went cold turkey and very paranoid with applying creams already. Please help!
Also, all I want to know if whether my skin will ever be normal again if I just stick back with taking oral antihistamine and just wash my face with water. I'm really depressed right now.

i've had the telltale rash around my mouth and chin for a few months now and its gotten worse over the past few weeks i assume because of the cold dry weather. i'm so confused with all the things i read online. i have an appt with the derm in a few days but in the meantime i'm not sure if what i'm doing is hurting or helping. i wash with cetaphil and put aveeno lotion on my face to keep it from flaking and feeling like it's going to crack. at night i put my little's brothers excema meds on it (desoximetasone) and aquafor as needed when it's particularly painful. i use hypoallergenic makeup and non oil based makeup...any tips would be helpful! i'm also a little fuzzy on the prognosis for this...is this a chronic condition??

Hi..I think your derm can help the most. However, I found that changing toothpastes helped a lot. I switched to just using baking soda for a while and mine cleared out.
Also, I use mineral oil and find that it's gentle and helps sooth my face.
Best of luck.  (+ info)

Anyone Have Perioral Dermatitis Or Contact Dermatitis?

I believe I have that seen picture's and I keep getting a rash that is only on my face usually starts on my chin right underneath my bottom lip but now it also is around my eyes and a little on my cheeks and forehead. I don't know if its the soap I'm using or could it be my water got really bad water right now since the softer broke, could it be my glasses?? I have had this since last year it comes and goes seems like it comes whenever I have somewhere to go and don't want a rash on my face.

I am wondering what kind of soap can I use? I have tried Neutrogena but it makes my face dry and red as well, I have tried dove, lever, ivory,noxzema none work make me red as well. Any else I can try? Also the rash on my face burns and itches I don't itch my face since I know it will make it worse I also took claritin which didn't help and used benadryl benadryl makes it less itch but also makes me fall asleep. My family doctor thinks it's environmental like pollen or my soap or something I'm eating.

Also can it be my shampoo? Anyone know where I can get a natural shampoo?
Thank you I do wash my hands alot lol family & friends tell me I wash them to much, I don't really have acne but I do have large pores and a oily face which I can never find anything to help that either, I do have vitamin b deficiency what's a good multi-vitamin? I'm 30 yrs old, I called around where I live for a dermatologist but none are taking new patients until the first of the year which is f**king stupid lol. My face was doing so good I thought it was the butter I was using so I stopped it and my face seemed to clear up but once again I have this rash. I do have hydrocortisone cream tried it didn't help, I am hoping maybe it has to do with my water since the water softer is broke I just bought a new one tonight installing it this weekend, my water right now is hard and has so much iron in it so keeping fingers crossed it's that, my luck it won't be.
I just found a site with a natural way to treat dermatitis 24 people recommend it apple cider vinegar might try that.Thanks both u

Shampoo can be bought at Whole Foods, or other natural grocery stores. It could be eczema, psoriasis which can be treated.
Could be from talking on the phone and getting germs. You can use Cetaphil cleanser or just lotion to wash your face and rinse with water. Wash your hands. The doctor should culture it and see what it is so you get the right treatment. They need to quit guessing and saying it's anxiety. What do they go to med school for anyway. If you don't get an answer or get brushed off, go to another doctor or see a dermatologist, please.
You might just need simple cortisone cream over the counter. other causes are vitamin b deficiency, acne, There is benadryl cream, I'm not sure how effective it is, but it won't make you sleepy! try the hydrocortisone cream, you buy it anywhere and the generic will work the same. Please let your doctor know if the rash gets worse or spreads and you get a fever, blistering, or red splotches or it spreads to your arms/legs or it becomes painful as in joint or muscle pains.  (+ info)

How do I rid of Dermatitis on my hand?

I have dermatitis on my hands, it is between my fingers and a little patch on my palm. It is very itchy and red and has what appears to be tiny fluid filled bubbles all over it which sometimes weep after a shower and get itchier. I have a cream called Graphites cream which helps stop itching and gets rid of redness but doesnt seem to get rid of it. I read that dermatitis (i havent always had dermatitis, i was born with eczema and one day had a little dry patch on my finger which turned into dermatitis) is sometimes aggravated by wheat and lactose so should i quit milk and bread for a month see if there is any difference? I'd like to know if anyone has any 'cures' or remedies i can purchase when i go shopping or something homeopathic i can make now so soothe straight away. PLEASE HELP ME!
Ha! yes in a desperate bid last night to get rid of it i put some steroid cream on it, well lets say it quickly got washed of, it BURNED!!! I also heard nickel is a common trigger its in most coins and people always carry coins

I would be careful using E45 cream - I know a lot of people swear by it but I have Ezcema and it does nothing but aggravate me and makes me itch more - i agree to get something non steriod based so it does not thin the skin - try acqueous cream - you can get it without a prescription from a local pharmacy  (+ info)

What can I use for dermatitis instead of Triamcinolone Acetonide?

I have dermatitis that only ever gets better if treated with Triamcinolone Acetonide. Lotions and creams have not helped and sometimes dry out eczema+like areas. Does anyone know of over+the+counter treatments that help? Any secret remedies?
----------

Should we whisper if it's a secret? ; )

OUCH! Stop using that stuff now! Seriously, corticosteroids are one scary medication! Look at this:

Corticosteroids: Research literature, reflecting more than 50 years of studies, note a variety of adverse reactions to topical, oral, and systemic corticosteroids - ranging from mild to life-threatening and life-altering.

A few examples of the side effects include:
* Adrenal suppression
* Allergic reaction to the medication
* Cataracts
* Glaucoma
* Gastrointestinal effects, such as nausea and vomiting -- Peptic ulcers also have been shown to occur.
* Growth retardation
* Hair growth increase
* Hypertension, or high blood pressure
* Hypopigmentation (lightened patches of skin)
* Infection
* Osteoporosis
* Skin conditions including stretch marks, spider veins, thinning of the skin, purpura (purple-colored patches of skin), acne, perioral dermatitis and rosacea-like rashes
* Tachyphylaxis (a decreasing response to corticosteroids)
* Weight gain

Emily, if you wanna get rid of your condition, you must address the issue at the root. Any skin condition is a visible sign of imbalances inside the body. (Skin conditions are actually symptoms of other conditions -- it's your body crying out for help!)

I've had eczema badly on my hands and before I made a few lifestyle changes, I put a million things, natural and chemical, on my hands ... to no avail!  (+ info)
