Hello, Question: Is your cross bite on the left or right and is the occlusial contact central groove to buccal cusp or central groove to lingual cusp?? And about the Diastema, where is it located exactly and how many millimeters is it? Also, is the cross bite mandible to maxillary or maxillary to mandible ? With the requested information I can better give you an opinion. I'll await your response.  (+ info)

How can I create a gap in my two front teeth?

When I was younger I had a Diastema (gap) between my two front teeth. I thought it was the greatest thing but during puberty the gap naturally closed and I was left heartbroken. I want it back, how can I train my teeth to form a Diastema? Are there braces or rubber band techniques? PLEASE HELP
----------

Well if thats what you really want then you could use a tooth pick and for about 10-15 minutes everyday wedge it between your teeth. My nephew is starting to show some signs of crowding and he has to do that to create some space. It might work to create a gap for you.  (+ info)

Has anybody removed diastema?

was it painful? Did you face any problems later? And did your teeth become sensitive..If so, for how long??
you can remove by surgery. They remove that small piece of gum between the teeth and that generally closes the gap.Only some people need braces after the surgery

depends how much gap u have btw the tooth..it can b closed easily ..but with out seeing u r teeth pic its hard to advice which sort of of treatment suits u more  (+ info)

How long does it take for...?

How long does it take for your front teeth to grow together after having your frenum (connecting your upper lip to your gums) cut off? I'm talking about when you have a diastema between your two front teeth, and getting the frenum cut? How long will it take for the 2 front teeth to grow together?
*Please don't just make up a random answer, I want real answers (and website links would be very helpful)
THANKS!
----------

Usually, the frenectomy is done as procedure before braces are put on. If your dentist did this w/out planning on braces, maybe he/she is waiting to see if they move together when your other teeth come in - that is if there are anymore teeth due to come in. This could take months if not a year or so. If you have all your adult teeth, you need to call the office and ask the dentist what the next step is.  (+ info)

Can i use braces when im in this situation.?

i have incomplete tooth right now like only 2 more until its complete (without wisdom though)
and i have diastema. can i use braces to close the diastema or should i wait until the other teeth grow? im so concerned about my diastema because i cant smile nicely because of it
----------

No, you don't need to have all your permanent teeth to get braces. Some orthos treat kids as young as 7 or 8.  (+ info)

i need advice if i should extract my "baby" canines?

i still have milk teeth for both my canines. xray shows that there are no more permanent teeth that would replace it so im stuck with these "baby" canines. im conscious about them because they are small compared to my other teeth.

im planning to get braces to correct my diastema 2 yrs from now. im thinking if i could just extract them then have the spaces closed by braces. is this the best thing to do? can you pls give me advice? i really need help deciding..

also:
if i did extract it and have it closed, would it be obvious that i have no canines? im doing this primarily for aesthetic reasons..
----------

If you want them extracted, go to a professional to get them done because anything could happen.
Call an oral surgeon.  (+ info)

Have you kept - or closed - a gap in your front teeth and why?

(The technical term for the gap I'm thinking of is a diastema).
----------

You can count me in the gap toothed club! I have a large space between my front teeth. Some people tell me its cute, while others think I need to have it fixed. My parents choose not to fix it when I was young because they felt the space would close up when I got my adult teeth, well it never closed up.Their is a superstition that a gap in your teeth coincides with a fun loving and adventurous nature...if you look at Madonna you can see why that is true. Now that I'm in my mid twenties I'm really self-conscious about it,I might have it closed one day,but for now its just part of me....  (+ info)
