What are the clinical findings of a person that has pulmonary edema?

I know what it is....PLEASE don't cut and paste long article. Please. just wondering if anyone knows some of the things you would look for. someone could develop pulmonary edema pretty fast, huh? you would hear crackles/rales and hear a lub-dub-dub (3 sounds) heart beat. am i right? what r some of the other things you might find-if they were developing it fast?
or if you suspected it? what would make u suspect it?
Shortness of breath. , Drop in 02 sats.
Some patients become disoriented from the lack of oxygen,, combative if you can believe it.
Your would hear rales (crackles) in ALL lung fields.
A gurgling sound at the back of the throat.
Decreased 02 sats. nails beds would take on a blue to purple tint,
extremities become mottled. Progresses to pink frothy secretions from the mouth and sometimes the nose. Confirmed on a CXR ( but lets face it any healthcare professional will know without it)

Immediate administration of lasix, foley catheter to monitor output.
Intubation is seriously considered at this point.  (+ info)

the child is now 7 years old having pulmonary tuberculosis and with three years of home oxygen therapy. please tell is there any treatment that can cure this disease or tell me any alternate solution for this as quick as possible. waiting for answers.
Tuberculosis can be treated with antibiotics (several types at the same time) and the child will probably need a short stint in hospital to start with. After the treatment is working and some improve has started to come through, the child can then be returned home to continue with the medication. How bad is a pulmonary embolism?

So my dad has just been admitted to the hospital for a pulmonary embolism, which is a blood clot in his lung. Can anyone tell me how bad these are? He had open heart surgery about a year ago because he had a leaking heart valve. He had a seizure about a year ago but they were never actually sure if it was a seizure or a stroke. He takes blood thinners everyday since his heart surgery. Thanks in advance for your help.

Pulmonary embolisms are potentially life threatening - the seriousness is almost pure chance. If a clot is big enough or lasts longs enough to block the blood flow in the pulmonary artery, it usually triggers a severe or fatal heart attack. The blood thinners probably saved your dad's life, or at least kept the embolism from causing any additional problems.

An embolism doesn't have any lasting effects - whatever damage it did, if any, occurs within a few minutes. Otherwise, the only lasting danger is the risk of having another embolism in the future.   (+ info)

my mom has just been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. im a nurse and i have never heard of this disorder. ive been looking for it in my nursing books and have found nothing. ive tried searching the internet and found some info about it. my question is...if gone untreated what could really happen.. and if treated will it eventually go away or will she always have it? also what is the lifespan of someone with pulmonary hypertension?
Pulmonary Hypertension if left untreated will eventually lead to heart failure. It causes a back up of pressure back into the right side of the heart causing increased work for the heart eventually leading to hypertrophy of the heart muscle and ineffective contraction.

I recently had a chest x-ray to look at my lungs. Would a pulmonary embolism have shown up?
PE is not seen on chest x-ray. PE is a clot in the blood vessels of the lungs. The best imaging is CT angiogram which involves injecting contrast dye into the veins and doing a CT, if there is a blockage the dye will not be in the blocked vessel and it can be diagnosed.  (+ info)

I have a blood clot in my aorta veins and the doctors were so concerned that I might have a pulmonary embolism already had a cat scan of my chest and everything was fine I just got off lovenox shots and take coumadin once a day.
