Does anyone know anything about mite infestations, probably black pepper mites?

I have small itchy red bites everywhere that keep increasing despite through cleaning and laundering. Internet searches have lead me to believe that I have a mite infestation brought on (probably) by a furniture move. I ordered a product called Kleen Green which seems to have a good track record eliminating pests of all kinds. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have been battling with the same thing for 5 months. What HAS NOT worked for me was going to the doctors! The dermatologist insisted it was scabies but could never prove it and could not get rid of it despite ivermectin and eliminate! What I discovered came off the Internet. Common flea sop works best. you can use the healthy stuff from the Health food stores or buy 'hearts flea and tick soap' the reason it works is the pyrethrins. Try a small amount somewhere first to see if you have a reaction to it. Leave it on the full 5 minutes, use it twice a day. ( hair too) and then use foggers EVERYWHERE in your home. There is a brand that is over 12% pyrethrin. Dont forget your cars, coats, boots, shoes, purses ect. Also eating a 'candida diet' (thats on the internet as well) helps make you not as 'attractive' to the little stinkers. Take a daily dose of MSM (organic sulfur) you can dilute the powder form and add water 1/4 cup to 3 cups water and spray it on yourself, put it bath water ect. Anything with menthol in it helps with itching. Keep fogging every month (or more if necessary) use the pyrethrin soap and tan. (this toughens the skin against bites) It sounds dreadful I know but the itching and sleepless nites are worse (in my opinion) hope this helps!  (+ info)

tell me about human parasite infestations, what are the symptoms?

What medicines are out there? What is a stool screening?
----------

According to an article in Scientific American, there are 100s of potential parasites possible in the GI tract of an American. Because they rarely cause symptoms, no insurance company will pay for the tests. One estimate I read was that a complete range of tests would total over $30,000.

Some of the more obvious parasites, like tapeworms are easily tested for but there are far more that are likely to be inside everyone.

There are certain foods, once common to our ancestor's diets, which are known and proven to have a potent anti-parasitic affect. They are found in the Colonix product on this site.

What cleaners are availlable to combat fungal infestations, especially clothing and bedding?

We havet wo cats with ringworm which when spread to humans,is also known as Tinea. Quite contageous. Has been confirmed with Vet that this the problem; however, even with expensive treatments,we seem to be continuously reinfecting ! It's as if we can't get rid of it because our cats infect us, and we in turn reinfect them, a vicious circle. We know that the source was a kitten that we added to our family in September, and we have been battling this illness since then
----------

I got ringworm about seven years ago from a cat at a shelter I was visiting. The majority of my clothes are either dark or colorfast, so I washed them in the hottest water possible without ruining them. I changed towels and sheets daily. I used bleach on anything white. I also kept the site of the ringworm covered with a bandage day and night so I wouldn't infect my cats and used an over-the-counter athlete's foot cream (per my doctor).

Good luck.  (+ info)

any natural or herbal treatment for bedbugs infestations in our flat?

somebody brought this pest in our house, how can we get rid of it?
----------

First, break down the entire bed. That means taking the rails out from the headboard and footboard and cleaning ALL surfaces with a strong soap. Encase the mattress, boxspring, and all pillows in these special zippered covers (I will give a link).
Then, wash all baseboards, vacuum baseboards and then apply caulk to any cracks between baseboards and walls or baseboard and floor. This way you can trap them if they are hiding in there. Diatomaceous earth can be used to kill them if you don't want to use boric acid. The Pyrethrins are made from Chrysanthemums..so that is natural too.  (+ info)

I am sick and tired of head lice infestations of my kids and now grand-kids; solutions please? Anyone?

I don't want to use a chemical treatment, i.e. insecticide....can anyone recommend something that is 100% effective?
----------

My kids also had this problem when they was younger. I was told to treat their hair with mayonaise and leave on over night make sure you put a shower cap on their heads and let them sleep with it on their heads. then in the morning go through their heads with a lice comb and then wash hair throughly.treat all beeding and clothes , put their stuffed animals in the dryer on high heat. treat furniture, etc... Then buy some tree tea oil in your pharmacy and put about about 2 teaspoons in a full bottle of your regular shampoo . when ever you run out of shampoo do the same thing to another full bottle and it will keep those pesky and annoying bugs away. i did this and my kids never had them again. i still add tree tea oil to my shampoo and my kids our teenages now. i hope this helps  (+ info)

Head lice and infestations in UK Schools?

Head lice "nits" are endemic in schools does the school have to keep record of occurrence's of head lice and do they have to pay particular attention if a child is continually infested. I feel my child is being singled out as every time i get clear of them they return. I change everything lining etc.

how many cases of anaemia have been detected with parasitic infestations?

does parasitic infestations cause anaemia ?? how??
other major causes of anaemia
----------

Anemia can be caused by parasitic infections, most commonly by malaria (caused in humans by 4 members of the genus Plasmodium.)

Interestingly, in places where malaria is endemic (present in the general population), there are genetic mutations like sickle cell trait, the thalassemias, and G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency that all can cause some degree of anemia. This turns out to be an advantage as the malaria parasite is cleared from the blood better and the numbers of malaria parasites is reduced (although people with both trait genes or both thalassemia genes may have severe anemias).

Some intestinal parasites, for example hookworms and the whipworm feed to some extent on red blood cells (although most whipworm problems come from digging into the gut lining than from feeding). A large infestation of these can also cause an anemia.

There are two ways that you can have an anemia: decreased red cell production and increased red cell destruction. Most parasites work on the second pathway, although anything that limits absorption of key nutrients will also limit red cell production.  (+ info)

is papaya the best alternative medicine for worm infestations?

Papaya is a digestive aid and will do nothing to rid you of the worms. Go to your local health food store and ask them for some worming tincture. This will eliminate your infestation within a few days....... :0)
