is thier is a way to recver from reflux esophagitis?

Nexium medican not recover me
----------

I have been seeing a good doctor for about three years for IBS and acid reflux problems. The medications have helped tremendously. The IBS hardly bothers me at all as long as I take the medicine and I have been able to reduce the medication. The acid reflux has been more manageable also, but sometimes my throat still burns at night . I have heard that the acid reflux is inheritable. Don't know if it is true or not but others in my family do have the same problem. Maybe we should both talk to our doctors. I would like to annihilate the IBS and acid reflux.

Also, recently we raised the head part of our bed by inserting two inch thick concrete blocks under two of the bed posts. The slant is barely recognizable, but helps to keep the stomach acid from
backing up into the esophagus.

I also try to watch my diet. It's tough. Caffiene is a culprit and I just love coffee. Also try to eliminate spicy foods.  (+ info)

Do milk allergies disqualify you from military service?

I have a milk allergy and Eosinophilic Esophagitis. It's not life threating and I don't need an epipen.
----------

No, a milk allergy will not keep you from joining the military. I spent 24 years in the U.S. Army and there are many soldiers in the military with some type of allergy. You will most likely be put on a special diet relating to milk, but that should not stop you from performing your job. Also, being an adult, you should be a responsible person to know what you can eat and not eat. The military has numerous menus that does not consist of milk and it also, have various beverages for you to drink without having to drink milk. Now I hope you at least take some type of calcium vitamin to keep your bones healthy, because in the military you must be fit in order to accomplish the mission and to be effective.  (+ info)

Ulcerative Esophagitis/ Gastritis?

Hello!
I recently went in for a gastroscopy, and the doc diagnosed me with mild ulcerative esophagitis and mild gastritis. She put me on protonix once per day, at least for the next three months.
I am wondering what I can do with regards to my diet that might help this go away, and hopefully get off the meds after three months or so (she tells me thats about how long it takes to heal/ break the cycle).
I know that losing weight (as I am overweight) as well as low fat and high fiber foods will help. Examples, or recipes (or places where I can get some) would be a huge help to me!
Any suggestions you have, diet, exercize, foods, meds, thoughts, would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you!
----------

I suffered from erosive esophagitis as a result of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease, which you have) some years ago. Protonix is a proton-pump inhibitor that works by blocking the enzyme in the wall of the stomach that produces acid. This allows your ulcers and inflammation time to heal. You must allow the medication at least 8 weeks for noticeable relief of your symptoms.

You may have some success in searching for "GERD diet". My favorite sources are http://www.gicare.com/pated/edtgs03.htm and http://www.midwestgastro.com/diet_nutrition/GERD.html

A very good source of information on GERD is http://www.medicinenet.com/gastroesophageal_reflux_disease_gerd/article.htm.

This article does mention that GERD is considered a lifelong disease, but many people are able to successfully control their GERD by weight loss, exercise, and diet.  (+ info)

How long until I get over my gastritis?

Actually I have esophagitis-gastritis-duodenitis, so basically my entire GI tract is inflamed. I've been on Aciphex for almost two weeks and it's only slightly better. (I've been sick for months; I only just started treatment.) I need to do things other than lay in bed all day (such as, oh, get a job), but I can't when I still become acutely nauseous for no apparent reason. How long until this goes away?
it cut me off there. It should say "esphagitis gastritis duodenitis," with hyphens.

My son was prescribed 5mg/ml prednisolone for 10 weeks. What are the possible complications?

He is only 15 months old and was diagnosed with Eosinophillic esophagitis. On his Second endoscopy, they saw that the eosinophilia has moved down to the small intestines.
----------

The lowest possible dose of corticosteroid should be used to control the condition under treatment, and when reduction in dosage is possible, the reduction should be gradual.

Since complications of treatment with glucocorticoids are dependent on the size of the dose and the duration of treatment, a risk/benefit decision must be made in each individual case as to dose and duration of treatment and as to whether daily or intermittent therapy should be used.

This is an excerpt from a drugs.com (from the FDA) under precautions. It's a long list and probably will help answer your question. Just scroll down to where it says precautions or you may want to read the entire article. Hope your baby does better soon.  (+ info)
