What is the best way to remove unwanted facial hair without causing major pain or losing skin?

This applies to both eyebrows and a "stache" that I was lucky enough to inherit from my Grandma. (Thanks Nana!)
----------

WHAT IS THREADING?

Threading is the hottest, most-talked about method of hair removal. It is a cheap and traditional Indian hair removal technique that uses only a 100 % cotton thread. This can be done to shape the eyebrows or remove unwanted hair from the upper lip area, chin, sides of face, or the whole face etc.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

100% cotton thread is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin. This traps the hair between the cotton threads, which are then lifted out from the root. It is more precise than waxing or tweezing because it can remove as little as one hair or as many as is required.

HOW LONG BEFORE HAIR RETURNS?

Depending on your hair type anywhere between 2 - 8 weeks. Many clients claim that regular threading results in a finer hair growth. This is because the hair is pulled from the root, and in time weakens it. For the hairs to grow back, you don’t have to wait as long as you would for waxing. Before waxing hairs need to be at least 2/8" in length, whereas for threading they need to be about 1/8" in length sometimes even less!

HOW DOES IT AFFECT THE SKIN? IS IT PAINFUL?

Threading is milder than other facial hair removal methods such as waxing or depilatory creams. It is less painful than waxing! The skin might become a little red temporarily but only a slight pinch is felt as a relatively large area is covered quickly each time. Many devotees claim that they hardly feel any pain. Unlike waxing and creams, skin irritation is avoided as the top layer of dead skin is not stripped off or subjected to harsh chemicals in the process. Since the hair is removed from the root during threading, you don’t get ingrown hairs. Facial skin, especially around the eyes is too thin and delicate for waxing and can lead to wrinkles.

THE ORIGINS OF THREADING

Threading is beginning to gain popularity in the USA, however this technique has been around for thousands of years. The history of threading is not clear, with some claiming it began in the Middle East, India, or China. The technique of threading is usually handed down from generation to generation. There are very few places in the USA that offer courses on threading. In the USA salons performing it can be usually found in the Indian neighborhoods.  (+ info)

does wisdom teeth growth cause facial pain as well as headaches?

Does it also cause ur face to be a bit swollen? My whole left side of my face hurts and is swollen. When ever i tough the area where my teeth hurt it hurts even more and when i look inside my mouth the left gums are red and the right side is not. Is this my wisdom teeth growing in? I am 20 yrs old.

Usually once or twice a year, the tooth will crown and cut through the gum only to receed in a day or two. I've let it go for too long and now it's exposed, rotted, cracked, and the nerve is expossed. It infects easily and hurts every day. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD... get this taken care of now before your old and in chronic pain like me. GO NOW and find a dentist. DO IT. DO IT NOW.  (+ info)

temporamdibular disorder, what is the best way to relieve facial pain?

I use a warm compress to the jaw joint area. Ice seems to make my TMJ disorder discomfort worse. Anti-inflammatories help some people (Aleve, Motrin, aspirin) and Tylenol helps others.

I have always had mild TMJ discomfort, then my jaw was broken by an oral surgeon over 10 years ago and did not heal correctly. If I sleep on the affected side, I get dizziness and excruciating ear/face pain.

As another poster mentioned, your dentist can evaluate you for TMJ disorder and make suggestions or referrals. TMJ disorder is different for everyone, as the severity of the displacement can vary greatly.

Looking for pain center for tmj facial and tmj headaches?

I have worn a splint and have been seeing a TMJ Dentist, and I still have chronic pain with migraines. My facial pain is also severe. Does someone have any suggestions about pain centers. I live in Texas, and I would like to use my health insurance as well. I was not able to use insurance with my dentist who specializes in TMJ. I have calcified ligaments and I do not know if there is any solution to my pain except a pain center that specializes in tmj pain.

I have chronic facial pain on my right side starting from my ear like earache, does anyone know what it is?

Had MRI done, no problem as per physician, but could this be a nerve problem? Also got thru dentist and ENT for possible TMJ.
----------

I used to have the same problem. I saw my allergy doctor first, had an MRI, saw a neurologist, too. The final diagnosis was an extremely un-helpful "atypical facial pain" on which there is little documentation available on line. (At least that was the case at the time.) It was similar to pain from sinus pressure and was often accompanied by a strange sensation of heat escaping from my ears. The only hypothesis my ENT could offer is that I may be suffering some nerve damage from recurrent sinus infections. It lasted a couple of years and went away on its own. If you're not satisfied with any of the answers you've been given, I suggest you see another specialist.  (+ info)
