can it be benign fasciculation syndrome that I have?

I get a spasm once or twice a day on my arm but it goes away as soon as I move my arm...Is been happening for a year but today the spasm was pretty strong.stronger than usual. I dont feel any pain at all.
----------

Benign fasciculation syndrome is not a useful diagnosis, although doctors like to pretend it is. It's actually just a description of symptoms. It's like going to the doctor and saying, "Doc, my head hurts," and the doctor says, "You have a headache." OK, duh, but what is causing it and how can I get rid of it?

I'm sure there can be several causes for the spasms, but a common cause is Lyme disease. Lyme bacteria feed on magnesium, and the resulting lack of magnesium in the body can cause twitching and spasms Try taking daily magnesium supplements and see what happens.

Lyme disease exists just about everywhere, and many people with Lyme never noticed a tick or a rash. It is missed as a diagnosis very frequently because most laboratories produce false negatives the majority of the time (saying you don't have it when you really do). If you want to know if you have Lyme disease, you need to be tested by IGeneX. http://www.igenex.com You can find a Lyme doctor by asking here: http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi  (+ info)

Do you think I have benign fasciculation syndrome?

For almost a year I have been experiencing muscle twitches in different parts of my body, including hands, arms, legs, feet, stomach etc. I also get pain in these areas. sometimes it's an achey pain, other times it feels like cramps. I'm always pretty anxious, but this is really starting to worry me. The pain can be pretty bad. I've booked a docs appt, just curious what people think tho. If it is bfs, is there anything that can be done about it?

Hi,

Sorry you already know the answer to your question: get yourself to your doctor as soon as possible. He/she will probably refer you to a neurologist, who will want to give you an MRI to rule out diseases like Parkinson's, MS, Lou Gehrig's disease, etc. (no you are not too young for any of those.)

Please stop self-diagnosing; hie your heinie to your primary care doctor and call today.  (+ info)

Do I have Benign Fasciculation Syndrome?

I have the following symptoms;
Bilateral tremor of the muscles in the arms, legs, feet, hands
Shaking voice (voice tremor)
Clumsiness
Difficulty in fine movements of hands
Difficulty writing
Anxiety
Nervousness
Sweating
Nausea

I looked up the symptom "tremor" on google and found BFS. Do I have it? And if I do, should I go to the doctor asap, or can it wait?
----------

I would not base a diagnosis on one google search. Go to a neurologist ASAP.  (+ info)

Does anyone know anything about Cramp fasciculation syndrome?

I have been suffering with it for about three years now and I have pretty much had to quit everything i do! I hate it and it hurts badly. My doctor gave me a seizure med. for it but it didnt help any and it just sucked the energy out of me. I have also been temporarily paralized and im not sure if that could have been caused by CFS.
----------

Yep, I have it. I think I have had I for a long time. Carbatrol takes the edge of it, but it does not totally goes away. I have been struggling with back spasms for several weeks. Some days they are bad and some days they are better. Tomorrow they maybe gone and my legs or feet will hurt. That is the way it goes. I have have to quit a few things, but I still am active and try to be engaged with life in general. A positive attitude helps  (+ info)

what is muscle fasciculation? is there any cure?

if i have abdominal muscle fasciculation, thus taking excercise specially on my abs makes it worst?
----------

A fasciculation is a small, local, involuntary muscle contraction (twitching) visible under the skin they have a variety of causes.

The origin of most cases is at present unknown and usually inconclusive, has therefore been given the title benign fasciculation syndrome

Inadequate magnesium intake can cause fasciculations, especially after a magnesium loss due to severe diarrhea. So increased intake of foods rich in magnesium, such as nuts (especially almonds) and bananas may help.

Fasciculation also often occurs during a rest period after sustained stress, such as that brought on by unconsciously tense muscles. Reducing stress and anxiety is therefore another useful treatment.

Intense aerobic exercise has a tendency to cause these benign fasciculations -- once the aerobic exercise is over and you have taken up a restful position, you will start to notice the twitching.

Go easy on the exercise and eat those yummy bananas !  (+ info)

Benign fasciculation syndrome?

does anyone know anything about this and could this be my problem, one thing, i fall, walk like I'm drunk, sever pain in my legs, brain lesion and yes I know they are checking for ms but trying to rule out everything else but i found this today and have the same twitches in my left arm, could this be my problem?
----------

I have recently been experiencing twitches and random pains all over my body. I found a GREAT website which has calmed my fears about ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease, which isn't what you have either since you would have muscle wasting and weakness without the pain). One thing you may want to look at is Fibromyalgia. Both BFS and fibro are possibly diagnoses for your symptoms, yet again I'm not a doctor. However, I am familiar with many illnesses since I am obsessive like that. MS could be a possibility, but I am skeptical. Maybe a pinched nerve in your back? Have the doctors done an MRI? I had sciatica in my right leg for 3 months last year and I know what that pain feels like. And I'm only 18! Best of luck to you.  (+ info)

I'm suspected of having Sjogren's. Minor fasciculation on right cheek, shortness of breath. Not ALS, please?

CTA scan of heart shows minor plaque, but not enough to cause shortness of breath. It came on just a month ago. Dry mouth, dry eyes, symptoms of Sjogren's. Fasciculation right cheek, same spot, less than 10 times over several months. Please someone tell me it isn't ALS.
