Dear woodjunkie,

I have a 5 yr. old nephew with neurofibromatosis. It is a bad genetic disorder. His mother recently got him diagnosed with ADHD and is trying to get him labeled an autistic child. I disagree with most of these modern neuro logical disorders but not NFM.

The VA will give disability for diseases caused or aggravated by military service. Your best bet is to get some one who is conversant with the VA appeals system to write up your applications and appeals for disability. Try the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or AMVETS; they have much experience in processing claims and will work with you till you get it resolved. The local chapter of both these organizations can usually be found in your local phone book or use the e-mail links given below.

Good luck, good health, peace and love!

should i be concerned that i have 2 (known) benign tumors this young?

i'm under 18 and i have 2 benign tumors, one in my tibia (non ossifying fibroma) and i have a really large cyst in my breast (possibly caused by taking yaz).

could this turn into something more serious?
could i have more in the future, since i already have a tendency of developing them?
is it dangerous to have more than a few?
----------

Ask your doctor. Your probably fine, but cyst are never really a great thing. Benign is better than malignant for sure, but all cysts require their own blood supply and are technically abnormal cell development. The extent to which yours are bad though can only be determined by examination by a qualified physician. don't be afraid to ask him. He won't think you're stupid.  (+ info)

How much L-Arginine would I have to take to experience an increase in GH production.?

I am a 5'9 male, 19 years old. I have had a bone scan and my growth plates haven't yet ossified meaning I can still experience an increase in height. If I wanted to ameliorate said increase, precisely what dosage of amino acids like L-Arginine would I have to take in order to experience one inch of growth over the next few years. I already engage in hours of strenuous physical exercise every day.

Wouldn't it be wise to ask your Dr this question in stead to some strangers you don't know?
He can tell you what to take and not give you a wild guess

How do I get rid of a fibroma on my leg?

I have what my doctor calls a Fibroma on my shin. It's been there over 2 years, last year,I had it looked at,and he gave me some itch cream for the itching, and he said it might go away without surgery. It still hasn't gone away, and I think it should be removed, even though the doc said I'll have a scar if removed, but I keep opening the skin from scratching it,and I'm gonna have a scar anyways, and I don't want to keep having to get cream for it.I want it removed.I don't care if I have to go to the hospital to have surgery.

i'd have it removed by a plastic surgion caude constant irritation may get you something worse.  (+ info)

should I get a biopsy on a NONOSSIFYING FIBROMA?

they took an MRI and they didn't tell me much at all. They called me and said that they were gonna take more x rays in 6 months and that i was to start physical training for a possible cyst. after several weeks, i got irritated and went up to the doctor's office and requested the MRI report. it said that it was a possible NONOSSIFYING FIBROMA.

okay, my question is: why is everything "possible," and why haven't they done a biopsy or something to PROVE that that is what it is? why do the doctor's call it a cyst, when many science websites call it a tumor?

any help will be most appreciated. please be kind
this is on my distal femur and my proximal tibia (my knee)

In this case you have received a right answer, I suppose.
You are absolutely normal and share this little problem with more

what is fibroma molle?

Fibromas are benign tumors that are composed of fibrous or connective tissue.

A fibroma molle is a soft fibroma with less fibroid tissue than other fibromas. They are mostly seen on the neck, armpit, and groin, but can be found in other areas.

See my source below for a photo of a fibroma molle, and for more information.

Has anyone's infant/child experienced Infantile Digital Fibroma?

My 4 month old was just diagnosed with this. It is a hard bump on end of his finger. The dermatologist has not seen it before so couldn't give me much information but a page from her book (with all that medical lingo I just do not understand) So I googled it and just not too much out there on it. There is no known cause. I would like to know if any have experienced and what they did about it. The Derm told me could biopsy it but since not bothering him and is benign, can just monitor it. Said should go away in first 2 years. If not can surgically remove it. Since she did not know what is was to begin with, wanted to get others thoughts about it. Thanks!!!
----------

What is the treatment for infantile digital fibroma?

Eventually many fibromas resorb and disappear by themselves over 2 to 3 years, so that a conservative wait and see approach is best if they are not causing problems. If desired, they can be removed by a simple surgical procedure in which the lump is shaved off. However, many recur after surgery.  (+ info)
