What is the relationship of gallbladder disease specifically with treated Celiac Disease?

I've looked for references on this subject and the literature indicates studies done on untreated Celiacs. I am a proven Celiac and I have followed a strict Gluten free diet for the last nearly 6 years. I also have been having symptoms only in the middle of the night identical to that represented by the term "biliary colic." Ulstrasound is negative. Any suggestions about how to proceed from here?
----------

Taking care of Celiac Disease doesn't preclude you from having another problem that may be unrelated to celiac disease. I would approach this on two fronts I think. First, get blood work to see if you are having any gluten antibodies that would indicate that you are getting some hidden gluten from somewhere and it is time to check all of your "safe" foods for changes in ingredients etc. The other things to check is cholesterol levels. I historically had low cholesterol and in the last year have seen it go up(maybe due to better digestion). So if your cholesterol is high, go on a low fat diet as much as possible and try a cholesterol lowering medicine just like a non celiac. There are some more tests in the reference I put in. Good luck and hope you find the culprit.  (+ info)

Does anyone know how I can get my diseased gallbladder out?

Been in incredible pain for 4 weeks. Been to the ER and doctor. ER just gave me pain pills and told me it would need to come out. Doctor ordered blood test today. Can't eat, lay on back or side and in constant pain. Biggest problem no insurance or up front money for a surgeon. Any suggestions on how I can get the gallbladder out would be appreciated.
----------

This is so why we need health care in the United States. So many many people do not have health care.
Has your surgeon asked to be paid up front. Usually they will go ahead and operate and you sign for the operation and pay for it over a period of time, pay what you can each month.
Have you applied for medicare? Are you near a County hospital? One suggestion is to go to a teaching hospital and have the operation done by a student intern under the direction of a resident surgeon. I wish you luck.  (+ info)

What will my second opinion say after I've had all the tests run on my gallbladder?

I have a family history of gallbladder disease. My great-grandmother passed away last year from gallbladder cancer. I've had pains in that area for the last few weeks. I've had an ultrasound, ct scan and a hida scan. I'm going for a 2nd opinion on Tuesday with a surgeron. Could he suggest surgery even though my tests are coming out negative?
----------

people can have gallstones or cancer of the gallbladder and not have any symptoms. although cancer can cause jaundice. removal of the gallbladder even if you have gallstones isn't always needed. only when they dislodge from the gallbladder and block the duct or problems such as intense pain, nausea or vomiting, indigestion and sometimes infection. women are 2 to 3 times more likely to get gallstones and 20% of women never even know they have them. women who are overwieght, have had children, and take oral contraceptives are at greater risk. My Doctor said women who are fair, fat. and 40!!!
I had gallstones and when I ate certain foods high in fat I sometimes had an attack. The pain was unbearable and it would last anywhere from 10 min to a few hours. if you are having gallbladder problems the pain is triggered by something you ate. if the stones are small often medication will treat them, and lithotripsy is used to shatter the stones. there are also other tests to see if you have them and blood tests can be done to rule out cancer.. and the Dr. may ask you to keep a diary of what you eat and when you have pain. If your ultrasound is negative I doubt you have cancer as it would show up. A second opinion is good and a surgeon that specializes in gastroenterology is the your best choice.  (+ info)

When you have a Hida Scan done for the gallbladder and your functioning percentage is 66 can theresti?

ll be something wrong with the gallbladder with your number that high?i have had an ultra sound and blood work and they came back normal.i have been sick for 2 months with nausea and severe pain on my upper right side i feel sick and tired.my doctor said i had all the side effects for gallbladder disease.i was wondering if anyone has been through this and what did you have done for it?
----------

The symptoms you have described do sound like a gallbladder problem. The doctors use ultra sound and that is basically to determine if you have any gallstones that are large enough to cause this problem. Doctors, however, treat symptoms, not root causes and do not understand how the body works in relation to nutrition. They are not trained in this.

The gallbladder is basically a "storage tank" for bile. The bile is made in the liver and sent to the gallbladder for storage to be used when needed to digest fats that you eat. The bile can become viscous from eating bad oils and also if the liver has a problem, it won't produce good bile. The LOW fat diets being promoted in America today are very destructive. It seems that in all their wisdom, the so called "food experts" recommend not eating fat because they say it will make you fat. This is very bad advice and the medical industry seems to have bought into this insanity as well.

Your body needs fat and is designed to use fat in many ways. If you eat low fat diets, your gallbladder is not used as it should be and the bile sits there becoming viscous (thick). When you finally do eat fat, the bile is sent down the bile duct to your small intestine, but if the bile is viscous, it won't move down the duct easily and cause you pain.

Eating fried foods, hydrogenated oils, vegetable oils, etc. will cause your liver to produce BAD BILE. You can clean your gallbladder with herbs and also your liver. Once you do this, you need to change your diet to promote good bile production. Eliminate all the bad oils and fats from your diet and make sure you get plenty of fat in your diet of the good fats.

The best cooking oil to use is: 1/3 olive oil (found in cans imported from Italy), 1/3 Sesame Seed Oil (organic), 1/3 Coconut oil (from extra virgin, cold pressed, organic). Mix these three oils together and use them for cooking. Eat lots of real butter made from raw cream. Go to: www.organicpastures.com and get their butter. It is made from raw cream that is produced from cows that feed on grass only. Butter and coconut oils are the only fats that do not require bile to break them down. These medium chain fatty acids nourish the body.

Avoid ALL margarines, ANY soy, canola, cottonseed, or corn oils, especially the ones that are hydrogenated. All these oils are very unstable and typically rancid when you buy them. They oxidize easily and promote inflammation in the body, especially the arteries.

To flush your gallbladder, go to the following: (800) 370 - 3447 and order the Gallbladder Nano and take 2 tsp. per day for 3 weeks and also take Gallbladder Complex for the same period of time. These two natural herbs will make the bile very watery and also open the throat of the gallbladder that allows the bile to flow easily. Once you have done this, you can do what is called "coffee enemas" to completely clean the liver and gallbladder. There is a direct connection from the sigmoid colon and the liver & gallbladder. You can order the coffee enemas from the same people. Do 3 per week for about 13 weeks and this should really clean the organs. You will be amazed at how your skin looks when you do this.

The term "gallbladder disease" is strange language. A dirty gallbladder is not a disease, it is a result of bad diet.

99% of ALL gallbladder removals are unnecessary. When the gallbladder is removed, it just simply moves the problem from one organ to another and doesn't solve the root problem. It makes you feel better for a short while and then you have a life sentence for bad fat digestion for the rest of your life.

good luck to you  (+ info)

Can an endoscopy pick up gallbladder problems?

I have an endoscopy coming up for some tummy troubles I have been having. The doctor thinks its either my Crohn's Disease flaring up or gallbladder problems. Just curious if the gallbladder problems would show up on an endoscopy.
----------

Endoscopy...no, ERCP...yes

In an endoscopy, they send a scope to go through the esophagus,
stomach, and the first part of the intestines (duodenum).
Your throat is numb and you are sedated and ask to swallow
the scope.
http://www.gihealth.com/html/test/gastroscopy.html

In an ERCP, they go through just like a
regular endoscopy but further....over to where
the bile ducts come down to meet the first part of
the intestines (duodenum). They usually shoot dye
up into the bile ducts, then and it will show up on
the screen. They can see if the bile ducts are
malformed, twisted, obstructed, have a stone or
growth in them, etc. If they see a stone, they can
remove it. If the bile ducts are narrow, they can
use a balloon catheter to expand them. And more.
http://www.gihealth.com/html/education/ercp.html

Usually, for a gallbladder problem...an Ultrasound
is done. They can see stones in the gallbladder,
and the bile ducts and if there is a stone that has
moved into the bile ducts. The can also see
how the blood is flowing through the liver, if
necessary.

Gallbladder attack after removal from eating a banana?

I had half a banana with my son and an hour later it feels like I am having a gallbladder attack. I don't have a gallbladder it was removed in March this year at the age of 25 it was diseased with stones. Is this even possible? Can bananas cause these attacks, are they ok to eat for people who have gallbladder disease or a removed gallbladder?
----------

Consuming the right food is crucial for your health. You can try supplementing your diet with acai berry, it's not only a widely tested and acknowledged weight loss product, it's a superfood too. There's a risk free trial available at http://rikump.fatfreestore.info I've been using it for two weeks now and it is certainly working!!  (+ info)

Gallbladder disease,i have to get my Gallbladder taken out. do you or someone you know have had that surgery?

im 21 yr old female(me in the pic) and i have been having pain so i went to the my Doctor and she said it has to come out. the pain right now it TERRIBLE!!! and im just wondering if you or someone you know have gotten theres taken out? and if so how did you or they do during and after the surgery?
Thanx :)
is it a out patient surgery?
----------

MIne was taken out last year and I have a whole new lease on life! I had been in agony. It turned out the inside of my gall bladder was completely calcified and chunks were breaking off and getting stuck in the duct from my liver. I had laproscopic surgery and felt next to no surgical pain. The next day I was out at the mall and had dinner with friends...I was just a little tired and just slightly sore for a couple days. YOu do have to keep in mind that regardless of how great you feel, you're supposed to go easy on heavy lifting and anything really strenuous for a couple weeks so everything heals.

Coincidentally, someone else I know had hers taken out the same week. They couldn't get hers out laproscopically, and she spent one night in the hospital. She was pretty sore for several weeks, but she wasn't miserable. It's still a much easier surgery than they used to do 15 or 20 years ago.  (+ info)

IS surgery the only option for gallbladder disease?

I have had it since feb of 08 and I am horrified of getting surgery but the "attacks" are becoming more frequent and lasting longer.
----------

Yes, it's the only option you have. But the surgery is so easy nowadays. A couple of tiny incisions and they get it right out. My mom had the surgery done before it went laser and was cut open about 5 inches, that's the old fashioned method. Now it's even an outpatient surgery. Listen, I've been through some horrible surgeries, very large and extensive ones and I assure you that this will be nothing. Once that painful thing is out of you you will be so grateful. The attacks are only going to get worse from here on out. Get the surgery, you'll be thankful you did.  (+ info)
