It is very difficult, when you don't know what to expect. New symptoms are showing up every day. It is always traumatic when they develop. If I knew what was coming, it wouldn't be so difficult.

Gliomas can be cancerous or benign. Both needing radiation to try to keep it from coming back. Unless he did a biopsy, he had no way of knowing what cells were involved in the tumor growth. Is she going to have chemo also or just the radiation?

Sorry I know what I'm talking about. I just had a brain tumor resection less than 4 months ago. Dr had no way of knowing if it was benign or cancerous, what cells were involved and what grade the tumor was. After my surgery, tumor was sent off to be tested. Gliomas almost ALWAYS come back at a higher grade.  (+ info)

It doesn't matter. A brain tumor that is a Glioblastoma or a Brain Stem Glioma is bad. Doesn't matter if you are a child or an adult.

My friend part of your answer is asking questions. You are well on your way to healing/accepting the loss of your friend. I lost my father within minutes of He and I having arguments over my responsibilities. We were both yelling and he died within a few minutes of having a massive heart attack. I think about him often and wish I could take back everything I said that day. Talk with your friends and your parents and let them know how much this has affected you. Let them know you are worried and want help in learning how to cope with this. I can't imagine how much pain you are going through but I wish you the best and hope it all works out for you.  (+ info)

What are odds of beating a brain tumor that is a glioma?

The type of glioma and the staging are what would give you enough info to be able to make an accurate guess. I had a friend die of an aggressive type so I thought that they were always terminal. Since then I have met a man who was diagnosed with a glioma. After his surgery during which they removed about 98% of the tumor the pathology report came back and determined that his glioma was an indolent or slow growing type. This happened about 2 yrs ago and his scans since then have shown no significant new tumor growth. He is back at work so he must feel pretty good. So until they do a biopsy and get the pathology report back you do not know what you are dealing with unless scans show a rapidily growing neoplasm in which case the prognosis would obviously be guarded.
