Could you please help me out on finding an answer I am very very very anxious to know!

If we go into the History of Medicine the hard chancre of the Primary syphilis at the base of the finger was originally described by John Hunter in this manner and hence the name goes as Hunterian chancre!
However contracting of STD by getting fingered is not otherwise known though it may not be totally ruled out!!  (+ info)

I was on a very high dose of prednisolone (steroids) and azathioprine. This has now been reduced and the inner ear infections are reoccurring.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this?
(I'm asking for a referral from my doctors but I'm interested in other people's experiences.)

Mad Cow Study Points To Virus, Not Proteins

Researchers have found more evidence that a virus may cause mad cow disease and a related brain disorder in humans, threatening to overturn 25 years of research focusing on malformed proteins called prions.

Nerve cells infected with the human form of mad cow disease contained a virus-size particle that doesn't appear in uninfected cells, said Laura Manuelidis, a neuropathologist at Yale Medical School. Cells infected with scrapie, a related sheep disorder, contained the same germ.

The findings challenge the idea that the diseases are spread by prions, abnormal proteins that have also been detected in the brains of infected humans and animals. Stanley Prusiner won the Nobel Prize in 1997 for research identifying prions as the infectious agent.

But questions have arisen because people and animals are thought to catch the disease by eating infected meat, and some researchers argue that the stomach and intestines would quickly break down any protein before it reached the blood or brain.

What Type of disease is breast cancer?

What Type of disease is breast cancer?
(dominant, recessive)
what chromosome?
----------

Breast cancer is an aggressive disease, if untreated it can cause death. If cancer is detected early it has a great survival rate. If cancer of any kind is in the family one would need to do self examinations earlier in life. My wife's dad had cancer, her aunt died from breast cancer and her grandpa had cancer. My wife discovered her lump with herself taking a shower.

Not sure if this answers your question, but since nobody else had I thought I'd throw my two cents in the pot.  (+ info)
