Can Carpal Tunnel Syndrome make your whole arm hurt and have upper arm muscle spasms?

My arm has gotten so bad that i can't hardly use it for anything.Due to the pain.
----------

No. Carpal Tunnel only affects the carpals and metacarpals in the wrist and hand.

Chances are that the pain originates higher up, perhaps in your spinal column. You may have a herniated disk or some other problem caused by compression of the spine that is causing nerve compression and/or damage. You should see a neurological specialist for proper diagnosis.

If it does turn out to be spinal problems, your options may include surgery, pain management and physical therapy, or chiropractic treatment. Surgery can have unwanted side effects that only complicate matters, but some swear by it. Pain management and physical therapy can help reduce inflammation and pain, although if the compression continues the nerves may eventually die (which will end or lessen the pain, but also the strength in that arm). Chiropractors can be hit and miss, but some people find them very helpful. I personally give full credit to my chiropractor for completely getting rid of pain similar to that which you are experiencing without having to have surgery.

Good luck.  (+ info)

How can I tell if my hand tingling & pain is from thorasic outlet or carpel tunell syndrome.?

Have hand pain, tingling, lack of feeling in hands for several years
Have rested my hands, done les activity, no perminent solution
One doctor said I have thoracic outlet syndrome
Another doctor said I have carpel tunnel syndrome
they both want to do surgery
I don't know what to do to get the use of my hands back. I used to play tennis now I can't, I even have trouble writing now.
----------

There's some kind of test in which a doctor can give you mild shocks and stick a needle in at certain points on your arm, for instance, and he can read the electric waves from the nerves in the that area. He can tell if it's coming from the neck, back or if it's carpal tunnel. I've had it done and it sounds a lot worse than it is--and I'm a big baby with stuff like this. I wish I knew the name.  (+ info)

Does anyone know what could cause numbness in the hand/arm each morning?

Each morning I wake up, my right hand/arm is numb. It usually takes about 15 minutes for the numbness to go away. It is beginning to freak me out!!!!!
----------

There are several possibilities : carpal tunnel syndrome, sleeping on your arm, or neck problems. Make sure you sleep on your back that's the first and foremost thing you should do.

See your medical doctor and get an evaluation.  (+ info)
